[With only a day to go before classes started, Gavril thought it would be a good idea for the instructors to get together and try to enjoy themselves before the stress of the start of the school year got to all of them. But more than that, it was a chance for them to all get together and get to better know one another, as there weren't many instructor activities where they could come together and mingle without having to chaperone.

Or at least, that was the theory.

Though he had sent PMs to all the instructors inviting them out, he was beginning to wonder if maybe no one would show up, or that only the few people he was friendly with would show up, or any other number of things as the minutes counted down to the time he had given everyone. He'd even gone so far to move the location to a bar in Balamb after learning at least one of the instructors was underage, as he'd managed to convince the owner of this particular bar to allow underaged instructors in tonight, but only if they got their hand stamped to prevent them from obtaining alcohol. Also, by moving it off Garden, it lessened the chances of bumping into any students.

Not one to be a pessimist, though, Gavril quickly pushed such thoughts from his mind and started drinking a little early, nursing a beer while he hoped for a large turnout.]

((OOC: For the sake of my sanity, I'm handwaving the fact that Gavril sent out PMs inviting every instructor to a night out before the new semester starts. Feel free to mingle with one another and otherwise do what you like! Though Gavril started it this is very much an open post for everyone to get to know each other better, and relax before the start of classes, so tag around! And if your character feels so inclined, drink away. We'll figure out who has to pay the tab in the morning :D

Also, I apologize for any typos there may be as it's 2am, and I will fix it in the morning >>; ))

[Multiple choice time for Instructor Sunarrow! Either you can find the blood elf sitting in the sun and going over some notes in Thalassian, enjoying some 'quiet time' in the quad (any time away from every pet she owns is quiet time, seriously, even if the Quad itself is not necessarily a quiet place).

Alternately, you can find her in her classroom with the training dummies set up, going at a little target practice, because--well. Kat enjoys shooting things, really, but also it doesn't pay to get rusty. She does have an image to keep up, after all!

Anyone care to join her?]\

(ooc: I have been so fail, sob. Life just keeps trying to eat me, but I keep trying...I love you guys!)

Seriously?! I thought we were done with this Time Compression stuff! Well, the letter said the scientists are tryin' to find a way to send us all back, so I guess I'm not gonna be stuck here forever. I can go right back to where I left off, right?

So, what's different in the future? Do we have any cool new technology, like those tunnels and hovering platforms in Esthar? Or maybe TELEPORTERS?! Is Squall still the commander? Oh man, all my friends are gonna be so OLD, and I'm still just 17! That's gonna be so weird. Hey! Is there some kind of future-me runnin' around here?! After 20 years of missions and training, I bet I'm AWESOME!!

And oh! That letter said something about, uh... off-worlders? Like ALIENS?!! That's so cool! What kind of powers do they have? I wanna meet one!!!

Soooo, Balamb Garden. The name's Axel- you might want to write that down somewhere. Now, I've got a very pressing question for you all concerning this military deal- where's option B?

[Yeah, he's serious. Well, probably, it's hard to tell.]

How do you get rid of animals?

[Today you will find Squall sitting outside in the Quad. Why? It might have something to do with the crowd of animals gathering around him. Birds, deer, mice, cockroaches, there's even a few grats from the Training Center. None of them seem violent, pressing in around Squall like a cat looking for a good pet. Speaking of which all those illegal cats in B-Garden? Yeah you might see a few of those too.

Squall looks like he's reaching his limit though. Standing up he slashes his arm through the air.]

GO HOME!!

[...Nothing happens. In fact the animals press in closer. Sitting back down on a bench he just puts his head in his hands. What'd he do to deserve this...]

((ooc: For the super power event Squall's power is animal magnetism. Good luck dragging those cats away.))

[Katsura, having a number of pets anyway, thought nothing of taking care of some of Greece's kittens--besides her own two--while the cadets were trying to find homes for them.

What she should have expected was mischief. As in, while she tries to come in with an armful of food and her bow case and Kitsune on her heels, one of the kittens--a Russian Blue, by the looks of it--rushes between her legs and darts off down the hallway.

She can't call after it, and so she shoves food, fox, and other kittens in through the door and shuts it, running after the swift little feline.

Kat is fast enough to see a tail disappear up the stairs to the second floor, and with a groan, tracks it, all the way down the second floor hallway, where for some reason it's decided to paw at a door.]

Just what do you think you're doing? [That's asked in a murmur, to try not to bother the room's occupant, and yet, by the shadow moving under the door, it may already be too late...]

[The solid walls and thick ceilings are a bit much for someone unused to them; even windows aren't much help, especially when they're glazed.

So Vol'jin's in the quad, sitting with his back to the wall of the building, a couple official-looking papers strewn around him, weighed down with a few small rocks. He's poking at a course catalog with a pen and noting things down on yet another scrap - really the sort of thing that looks like it'd be better done inside at a desk.

The blue skin, tusks, and strange hands and feet make it pretty clear he's not human from a good ways away... and the way he keeps taking surreptitious looks around his papers at people going by in the distance suggests he's not used to humans any more than they might be to him.

Sighing, he drops his pen and scratches his head, then pushes his hair back into its rough spikes.]

Dey got classes for everyting... and rules for everyting, too.

[This has been a profitable afternoon.

If by profitable you mean 'full of cats and catching them'.

Greece and Nepeta are returning to the Garden from their raid on town, cats and kittens alike either stowed away in huge cloth shopping-bags or under their clothes -- Greece's pockets especially are full of them.

But now they have to deal with the problem of hiding them all. Neither Greece nor Nepeta want to put them back where they came from, nor do they have the living space necessary to keep all the kitties happy.

Help a cat-lover out, would you?]

(OOC: Exactly what it sounds like. You can run into either Greece or Nepeta around campus, looking for spare rooms, and they'll try to give you a cat or three! Instructor-types will be distracted by Nepeta foaming at the mouth or something while Greece gets the fuck out of there with the payload.

Instructors who are trustworthy and want cats will only get foamed at for a couple of minutes :Db)

[He had no idea how long he'd been trapped in there, but thank god he was allowed out now. He had no idea what had caused him to get such an icky and debilitating disease but he was just praying and hoping he'd never have to deal with that ever again.

He reveled in the fresh air swamping around his nostrils. He moved towards his room, not that he could really call it that after not really spending much time there. He wanted to see everyone too.

He moves through the quad, he took his time, taking in the scenery again after such a long time. He smiles to himself and sits down on the bench he had the first time he'd come to the quad. He sighs and looks out over the quad.]

I should probably go and see Snow and Vanille and Serah... they were probably worried.

[He spoke aloud, not really taking much action on his words except to swing his feet lightly.]

If anyone is interested, I have prepared some snacks and tea. I will have them set up in the Quad, so please feel free to stop by.

- Japan

[And he will be in the Quad in his black military uniform, snacks set out on display. They are all as Japanese as he could possibly get with stuff from town. They definitely look nice! And if Japanese cuisine is something you enjoy, it should be a nice change from the selection in the cafeteria. You might spot him passing some out, or offering some with a bow, or enjoying a cup of tea himself.]

[Quite hectic it's been, this month. Katsura has had to do quite a bit of planning for future classes, and to that end had been in her classroom. But as she steps out, the air takes on a stark chill, so much so that she can see her breath as she exhales.

And it's cold.

Looking around in horror, Kat realizes that she's not in Garden any more. And that she realizes just where she is.]

Icecrown...

[She turns to look behind her, and it's as she feared. In all his dubious glory. Arthas Menethil, better known as The Lich King, sits on his frozen throne.]

[The Calm Lands.]

[A verdant green plain stretching off as far as the eye can see. Tall mountains shrouded in clouds border it on one end; on the other, the Macalania Woods block any sight past their imposing trees.]

[The air is quiet and pregnant with tension today, thick and still and stifling with an edge. No animals make noise, no sight and sound of people, save for the two standing in the center of the plains: High Summoner Braska and his guardian, Auron.]

[Across the length of the plains, the monolithic form of the monstrous Sin stalks slowly towards them.]

Actually - Zuko can't believe he's posting this to the BBS, but who the hell is he going to go to for this sort of advice? Aang? Yeah right. And Sokka's not around-- wait, no, that might actually be a bad idea considering it's about uh Katara.

It takes Zuko a good ten minutes before he finally decides what to do and hits the POST button, frowning and shutting down the computer system before he can go back and delete it.

[Sent before Shadow leaves for Winhill]

Greetings,

I'll just get right to the point.

The punishments in place here at Balamb Garden are laughable. A lot of cadets, and yes, even SeeDs, break or have broken serious rules set in place for their protection. However, there is no discrimination on the severity of the misconduct and the default punishments are detention or punishment tours.

I doubt either would suffice to actually teach a lesson that rules are in place for a reason.

I've come up with a list of possible other punishments suitable for cadets, and possibly SeeDs.

Suggestions )
**Notes will be added as suggestions come along**

Again, these are only suggestions. Constructive criticism and opinions would be appreciated. As a note, while this post is aimed for the Headmaster, Commander Leonhart, faculty, instructors, and SeeDs, it is not limited to just them. All input will be welcomed.

[It's Eiko's birthday! And she's certainly not going to wait for someone else to throw her a party - nope! She's going to host her own party, in her dorm room, and be the perfect hostess. As much as a seven year old can be, of course.

So far, this has basically involved Eiko baking and decorating cupcakes (or, trying to - there's definitely a good batch and a rather burnt batch, and one where she put salt in by mistake), and obtaining a teapot and tea from... somewhere. These are all laid out on a paper tablecloth in her dorm's common area.

In the afternoon of March 14th, little handwritten signs can be found taped to the dorm corridor walls.

EIKO'S BIRTHDAY TEA PARTY!
Everyone is invited. Come to B113, this way!

[It might be odd to see the blood elf practicing with a Blaster Edge, but for tonight, that was the weapon she had chosen. Why? Because her single student had that as her weapon preference, and truthfully? It was not Katsura's first choice for a projectile weapon. She had always been most familiar with bows. Almost to the point where she might call herself biased.

So she had decided that it was probably best for her to brush up and reacquaint herself with one. And so she was.

She'll be here for a while...]

[It's not all that surprising that Espio can actually use handguns. When it comes to class, after all, he is a very hard worker even on subjects he doesn't like, and the training he's taken has at least covered basic firearm usage and safety.

He's not entirely confident with them, however, which is why he waited until a time the training centre had few - if any - people training there before giving it a go, and does so while checking his surroundings frequently. So, while nobody's around, he takes on a few grats, trying to keep as much distance as he could between him and them...

For about fifteen minutes.

After which he gives up and hurls the small gun at a grat in a complete lapse of sense. These things were slow - yes, he had range, but!

And that's the sound of a gun going off, and Espio throwing himself to the ground as he realises what a stupid move hurling a firearm at a monster is. He swivels to see if it hit anything, and is thankful that it's only hit another grat, but... that was still extremely stupid. And a very near miss, at that - it could have easily hit him.
]

What kind of stupid move was that?! Anyone'd think I'm a complete moron!

[Well, that's enough of that for the day! His patience with Mikuru's pistol has failed - he'd better quit for the day, before he causes a real accident. He retrieves the pistol, and decides that now's the time to leave, hoping that nobody got to hear that. He'd rather leave without a curious someone questioning him.]

This was a stupid idea, anyway...
