This is my first day in your world, and that's why it's my birthday.

And like any birthday, we have to do it right! I don't know where everything is, so just decorate the lobby with banners and stuff, bring in some party hats and snacks, and make sure there's enough cake for everyone in the Garden by 7pm tonight.

What makes someone a good leader? Is it caring about the people they're in charge of? Or is it more making sure they can all get out of an impossible situation alive? During those times do numbers count, or is any single loss an unacceptable failure?

And when it comes down to it, how do you know if you're a good leader until something directly happens?

I've always considered my Pops the best leader there ever was, but he was the strongest man in the world on top of caring about all of us. So I guess he had both qualifications covered.

Just curious as to thoughts on it, if you will.

[ two and a half months ago, and einiona canning is setting her maths textbook on her chest and closing her eyes for a short rest, expecting to be woken by some passing instructor shouting at her for oversleeping close to curfew or some odd nonsense like that. she closes her eyes on the warm glow of a midday sun.

[ two and a half months later, einiona canning opens her eyes and it's still midday and she is suddenly very aware that something unnatural has just happened, although she can't explain why or what causes her to think this except the color of the sunlight above her face. she doesn't see anything missing, so -

[ it's just a feeling. but it's a bloody pissing persistent one and it won't go away, not for all the repeated attempts at sleeping again einiona makes in the whole wide world.

[ so she begins investigating her surroundings. as you do, when you're a right and truly obnoxious utterly manic welsh problem child from a family of problem children with a marked tendency towards obsessively picking and pulling apart everything you can get your hands on to find out what makes it tick so as to make it all a little less intimidating and upsetting to deal with. nothing immediately leaps out and screams "I AM WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOUR SIGNAL" until ...

... aw, now that's not humanly possible.

Very hard. She's practically slumped over the table in a dead faint. You might even think she's sleeping... if it weren't for the tiny fact that she seems to be talking to herself.]

... inally I need you morons and you're not around. You know what this reminds me of? That one time we were in Ballista and Refie and Drazen decided it'd be hilarious not to pull through with the pincer attack. That was a saaaad day for San d'Oria. Most of the credit goes to him though! SO YOU BETTER THANK HIM! We're going to have a C E L E B R A T I O N! Brought to you by the Garden Festival Committee! It will be in the theme of INDEPENDENCE! This means that there's going to be a lot of food, fun, and games, all outside! In order to pull this off the GFC will be spending our time setting up games and acquiring the needed things for seating! But we can't do this alone! OFFICIALLY! [ So there's another new face in Balamb garden, Leanne had found herself here in this world way early in the morning. She's had some time to let the information settle in her brain but she's still not sure what to make of it, or even what to make of this place. It's big, the single building probably as big as Ebel City. So she's wandering around, a little bit lost. She looks down at the paper she's holding once in a while, mumbling to herself. ]

...guess it's a good thing I got here on the weekend.

[ She stops by the directory eventually trying to figure out where everything is, where she'll have to go for classes, lunch, her room, all of it. Just focusing on what she can do right now. ]

[Here comes Ace, wandering down the corridor, map in hand. He's heading to the Infirmary between breakfast and the first lesson, for a quick talk with the Doctor, but you might catch him on the way there (or in the Infirmary, even. Sick already, huh?). Forgive his grumbling.]

Past the quad... at least the map's the right way up, now... Stupid early wake-ups...

[ At the sound of the morning 'wake-up' bell, Squall finds himself awake and staring at the ceiling of his room. It's still odd - to be twenty years into the future and yet still be the Commander of Garden as well as only seventeen. Time Compression was a peculiar thing. No- it was just plain messed up.

So he pushes himself out of bed and goes to shower. He's ready by 0630, punctual as ever, which probably can't be saying the same for some of the new cadets.

Grabbing up Lion Heart, he makes his way to his office to tie up any loose ends before then heading down to the main level at around 0700 where he'll be walking around in case there are any cadets lost and in need of information or direction for their morning classes. ]

[Kamui was the epitome of unhappiness at the situation, no matter how ironic it was. He ended up in a military school, of all places! Plus, he had to wear a weird uniform. He was eternally grateful that there was an explanation and someone to let him know what was going on.

He somehow managed to get outdoors, only to encounter a massive flock of new faces. He took out his paperwork, noting his dorm number, cadet number, and classes. So far, he didn't need to panic...much.]

Everything is so confusing! [Looks around.] And this place is huge. [He lets out a frustrated sigh and looks at a map he took out.] So, I'm here, and I need to go there...
