[ While today is a free period and there were possible better things to do with her time, Minako's in class anyway, soft music playing in the room through her headphones and MP3 set in a empty spot on the table.

The table she's at is filled with all kinds of ingredients, from raisins to chocolate to peanuts -- it's probably obvious from the cutters and the dough she's working on that she's planning to make cookies, the same as Monday's class, only far more adventurous now. ]

Guessing by all the BBS posts up today, I think most of you have seen the new issue of the newsletter. With that said, I'd like to state a formal apology addressed to the Cadets, SeeDs and Faculty in Garden.

I was the one that was caught waterbending by a native down at the beach in Dollet. I know, I know-- It was a stupid thing for me to do. I was overeager at the chance of being surrounded by my element and I made a bad judgment call. I should have been more mindful of my actions, as now my carelessness has caused for the natives to become wary of Garden.

But at the same time, I don't regret having exposed this sort of prejudice that the natives hold against us off-worlders. We're here because we don't have a choice-- if I had my way, I would be home where I wouldn't be ostracized for a natural ability that isn't viewed as a curse by the people of my world. Bending is an art form, a rare gift that only the few and proud possess. I shouldn't have to be ashamed of it or live in fear because of my ability.

Even if I do have the gift to manipulate water, I know better than to use it against innocent people. What's to say that everyone who has a unique ability immediately has ill intentions? Their ignorance isn't going to make our lives any easier during our stay in this world. There has to be a way to make them see us in a different light.

Obligatory Newsletter Reaction Post

A new newsletter is published (there may be a couple of posts mentioning it in this BBS) and on a much more somber note than the last one - Miss Delacreaux's column notwithstanding that is.

First, of course, come the accusations of Garden harboring sorceresses, following a fellow cadet's carelessness. Honestly, this was going to happen sooner or later - suspicions of sorceresses hiding among the stream of offworlders have been rampant from almost the start, as some of us may have noticed. At least this slip-up happened early on, instead of in a crucial time, like say, in the middle of a mission in front of a paranoid client. Not that it won't still cause some tense times here - for all of us.

Yes, all of us. Don't pretend this doesn't concern you just because you're a native, or because you're preparing some special project that will take you back to your homeworld.

Which brings me to the other newspiece: the rising tensions between this world's two super powers. I hope it won't come to actual warfare, but if worse comes to worse our SeeDs will have to face the dangers they've trained for, and there's the possibility that SeeD candidates may be deployed for field exams.

Curiously enough, it seems there are few offworlders who aren't familiar with conflict.

Well, I hope you'll forgive my rambling. My congratulations to the Garden Festival Committee for a well-written edition - particularly Miss Delacreaux, who seems to have learned a little restraint since last time (though really, I know the paper was starved for news on Commander Leonhart, but we don't need to know what he does on his down time).

[Irvine is in the Cafeteria, crouched over a newsletter laid upon the table he's occupying. For the most part he's keeping a straight face as he combs through the issues, which doesn't take very long. (There's a slight tug at the corner of his lips towards the end, however.) When he appears to finish he sets the newsletter aside and leans back against the chair.

There's a lot begging to be discussed, though he isn't thinking too deeply on them. In fact, as per his habit he's also taking the time to eye a female cadet or two whenever she comes into view.]

[ Back in Garden, while listening to music from her MP3, Minako is semi-lost but enjoying the experience as she takes a stroll around the first level.

In fact, it's the second time she's circling the ring of the the first level, peering curiously at but not entering any of the sections just yet.

And if nobody stops her, it seems like she's starting to circle around a third time.

[ Enter the lobby and you'll find yourself a redhead, rubbing the back of her neck as she looks at the directory. What was she doing here? Amy was blaming this on the Doctor; somehow this had to be his fault. One way or another. How else would she end up back in school? Ugh. Wasn't she done with this?

Don't get her wrong. She was all about new planets, but she was promised Rio. Or at least some beachy, Rio-like planet. ]

I won't get marked off too much if I skip my first day, yeah? Probably just give me a warning - since, you know, I'm new and all.

[ She's debating with herself because she really doesn't feel like going anywhere. Especially class. But, she wouldn't mind seeing what other sort of places there were besides classrooms. Just a bit of research in case she wants to play hooky gets lost later. ]

I should get myself sorted first anyway. Hang on. What's a... Quad?

[After studying for ungodly amounts of hours, Ken finally decided to take a break from the books and go out and do something. One thing led to another and Ken found himself in the Training Center where he met up with a T-Rexaur or the T-Rexaur met up with him... Either way, he's battling it now.

It doesn't appear that he needs any help but feel free to barge in and aid him if you feel like it. ...or, you now, you can watch the kid own the dino.]

Not bad.

{ooc; here's a very short clip of how he fights. You can watch this one too, but it's very spoiler-rific. 2:10 to 5:00 is pretty much all you need to see;;}

[It's the quad again. This fine evening Irvine can be seen lying against the bottom leftmost side of the stairs. One leg is crossed over the other and both arms are bent, hands folded under his head for support. His face is deliberately obstructed by the hat from when he pulled it forward earlier. By his side are a rifle and a book, presumably study material for the upcoming exam week.

All things considered he appears fairly relaxed. Perhaps he's sleeping, even. Care to find out?]

Does anyone know the world record for not sleeping here? I think it might actually be close to a couple weeks in my world. That, or two of my friends set it by fighting five days solid. Either way, I think I'm as strong as Jinbei and the other one. So I'm just going to stop sleeping for now. And live off tea's caffeine. So if you see me nodding off while studying for tests? Just poke me.

How's everyone else holding up?

[Apparently, some poor soul Luki annoyed the living daylights out of decided that a silk screening kit would be a good way to distract her. And distract her it did. All of Luki's favorite targets to pester have gotten several hours of blissful quiet while Luki worked dilligently and waited for the fabric paint on her newly designed t-shirt to dry.

Now that it has dried, she's proudly wearing it, a little black skirt, her striped stockings, and her black and pink shoes.

The shirt looks a little something like this:

Hey, what's with the long (seriously, they're getting long with those dark circles) faces? A star needs a bright and cheery fanbase and you're all so--

Not cheery.

[Ken's little tired from his nightmare from last night. Logically, spending a night in a strange room in a strange place would do that to him...probably. However, that's not what he's really bothered by it much, he's just dragging his feet a little more on his way to class.]
