[02] action, closed, dorms/Katsura's room
[Katsura, having a number of pets anyway, thought nothing of taking care of some of Greece's kittens--besides her own two--while the cadets were trying to find homes for them.
What she should have expected was mischief. As in, while she tries to come in with an armful of food and her bow case and Kitsune on her heels, one of the kittens--a Russian Blue, by the looks of it--rushes between her legs and darts off down the hallway.
She can't call after it, and so she shoves food, fox, and other kittens in through the door and shuts it, running after the swift little feline.
Kat is fast enough to see a tail disappear up the stairs to the second floor, and with a groan, tracks it, all the way down the second floor hallway, where for some reason it's decided to paw at a door.]
Just what do you think you're doing? [That's asked in a murmur, to try not to bother the room's occupant, and yet, by the shadow moving under the door, it may already be too late...]

A paw. Well then. That's... different.
Rising slowly, he heads toward the door and opens it carefully. Cid's gaze is first on the owner of the paw, but it quickly flicks upwards when he finds out that there's someone standing outside his door as well.
There's a brief pause from him.]
Hello.
no subject
Hello. Seems...someone wanted to be your guest. I'm sorry if we disturbed you.
[Katsura has a pet dispensation anyway...it just isn't for kittens, but she's going to bluff!]
no subject
[He glances at the kitten before looking back at Katsura.]
Though, I do wonder what brought it all the way to my door.
[Cid turns briefly to look at his room. There doesn't seem to be anything that would attract a cat...]
no subject
[She arches a brow, tilting her head and observing Cid a moment.]
Unless you'd like to keep this one?
no subject
Cid's quiet for a moment as he just looks from Katsura to the cat in her arms and then back to his fellow instructor.]
But isn't it your pet?
[His tone isn't accusatory or anything--more politely puzzled than anything else. After all, Cid's under the impression that Katsura is the owner of this kitten, so why in the world would she want to give it up?]
no subject
So, if you'd like this one--clearly it seems to like you--it seems to me like it'd be a good match. Don't you think?
no subject
Let's see this little one then.

Meanwhile, said kitten, once handed over, starts licking Cid's fingers.]

I have never been one to keep pets, but... [He returns his attention to Katsura.] You are sure of this?
no subject
[And likely if she didn't just have a dorm room to herself, it's fairly clear Kat would probably have a half dozen kittens just for herself.]
But it's not wise to overburden myself, and I really am close.
no subject
[He scratches the kitty behind the ears, earning him a purr.]
As for food... I will buy some of my own soon, but a little to start off with for now would be wonderful. [Cid dips his head in thanks.] Thank you.
Shall I assist you with getting them? I shouldn't have you do all the work.
no subject
[She gives a quiet chuckle at that.
I can only imagine the state of my room now. There might be cat food all over the floor, between the kittens and my fox.
[She sighs.]
no subject
[He offers Katsura a smile. Cid then turns and sets the kitten down on the bed; he gives it one last set of pettings before heading out the door.]
Shall we?
no subject
[So she leads him down to her room. It's a struggle to push her way in with critters crowding the door, but eventually she does get it open wide enough to allow them entry.
The disaster is not quite as bad as she feared, though the other kittens have chewed a hole in the bag to get at their dinner, and are circled around the spill. The rest of her menagerie is mostly silent; though Kitsune lets out a few welcoming barks. Her room is fairly spartan, and save for the spill of food, surprisingly clean.]
Humble but mine own. Here, I can get you a container. [Which she sets about doing, refilling the larger container she used as food storage for the kittens while she was at it.]
I'll have to come visit. Or bring my two for a play date, maybe.
no subject
Please feel free to. I'm sure the little one would enjoy the company.
[He looks at her from his spot by the door.]
Is there anything I can help you with?
no subject
[Even if this means that one of her kittens--and actually her kitten, a brown mackerel tabby--has decided that Cid's shoe makes an awesome place to fall asleep.]
...well, at least she has good taste in people
[Kat offers Cid his container of food, and then bends over to pick up the sleepy kitty.]
Sorry about that.
no subject
No need to apologize. And thank you again for the food.
Where do you normally get this? [He pauses briefly and chuckles.] And do you have any general advice on kitten care?
no subject
[Then again, with a rock spider normally at her heels, who doesn't know you, Kat?]
In a pinch you can probably use newspaper as litter. And I like giving them kitten chow when they're this young, still. He might be a little troublemaker while you're away at class but if you take the time to play with him, he should be all right. Beyond that...I can't think of anything immediately. But you can always come knock on my door if you need to!
no subject
[Cid listens quietly as Katsura gives him some pointers before dipping his head in thanks.]
I'm relieved that I have someone as knowledgeable as yourself here to ask. I'm just sorry that I have no way to return the favor at this time though.
no subject
[Kat offers up a smile, chuckling at Cid's next words.]
Oh, I'm not doing it because I want a favor from you! Clearly you want to take good care of your kitten, and I'm always behind that sort of thing. It's my pleasure, trust me!
no subject
[And then he shakes his head, the smile still present.]
Even if that is the case, I feel that I should thank you.
