[A long-term patient within the Infirmary is waking up from a very, very long sleep. He stares up at the ceiling for a moment, one hand pressed to his forehead as he tries to figure out why he's here and not fighting in the training center.]

...Ngh. [He sits up slowly, green eyes hazy as he comes to his senses. How did he get here? Is there anyone around?] Hello...?

[Several hours later, a new message is posted on the BBS:]

To my instructors,

I'm sorry for my prolonged absence. Dr. Kadowaki let me leave the infirmary today.

Is catching up... still possible?

- Hassan, Gupta M.

(ooc: Say hi at the infirmary, or on the BBS, or even catch him walking around anywhere inbetween!)

[at least the letter was fairly self-explanatory. If you could call that self-explanatory. whatever. At this present moment, you can find Germany wandering around. Well, not like he's lost but let's say like he's just trying to get the lay of the land. Learn his way around.

Okay, and yeah, he's lost.

Anyway feel free to run into him wherever is convenient! If your character is doing anything really unapt of a cadet feel free to assume you're being judged. A little. Maybe a lot. Your discretion.]

[He had hardly been at the school for no more than two weeks, and it was already far, far too long. He hated the garden, hated practically every person in the garden, hated the classes and most of all hated being away from any sort of action. He was the son of Batman and the heir to the empire of Ra's Al Ghul, the concept of being trapped had never entered his mind prior to arriving here. Granted, he had been trapped physically before, but this was an entirely different beast. Should he choose not to attend this giant waste of time, he would lose whatever little resources he now had available to him and be thrust into an entirely unfamiliar world.

This wasn't Gotham, with it's tall skyscrapers, costumed psychos, and citizens insane enough to still live in the city after all those years of dealing with Gotham's particular brand of costumed psychos. It wasn't like any of the places he had visited in his well-traveled young life, and though Damian had once considered himself a traveler, he doubted that if when he got home, it would be quite some time before he traveled again. Most importantly, this wasn't where Grayson was.

And so, with nothing better to do, he found himself reading The Art of War on the far side of the quad, trying to get some peace and quiet. Though he had read the book countless times before, there was something comforting in something so familiar...]

[Did you have any kind of pottery in your room? You know... plant pots, vases, anything like that? Well, whatever you had, you quite probably don't have it anymore. Someone has systematically gone through the dorms and hurled a not insignificant amount of pottery out into the corridor outside, smashing it into teensy pieces.

...completely unrelated to this, or not, Link's on his way back to his dorm. He has found 326 gil, a small wind-up toy, a stick, and a magazine where, for some reason that's entirely beyond his understanding, all the women forgot their clothes. Rather a modest haul, really...

[...well, this is lucky. Greece hadn't actually been expecting Time Compression to send him back home, even with all the strangeness of arriving back in both his old home at the Palace and two other lands that were distinctly unfamiliar.

He did have some hope.

So he's firmly decided not to mind that Time Compression has sent him back to the middle of 2009.

In the middle of Ifaisteia, too, and before he was forced into budgeting.

Now he sits in a cafe facing the Caldera, sipping some real coffee (finally!) and snacking on real food. It's the quieter side of town, and while he's glad to be back, he wants to think for a while. Feel free to interrupt him.]

[Garden's favorite group of vicious girls are at it again. This time, they're sitting at a table near the lunch line in the cafeteria, and they're not at all trying to be discrete with what they're saying; in fact, their "whispers" are quite staged as they lean in close to speak with one another:]

Just when I thought they'd be gone for good, they keep coming back!

Seriously! They're worst than bite bugs. Can't they just stay gone?

What's worse is I think that there are more of them than ever. They just keep multiplying and multiplying!

[The training centre, 8am, and there's this kid in green - he's thirteen, but somehow looks younger - facing off against a monster many times his size. You'd think he be scared, but nope. The way he's acting, anyone would think it was routine.

C'mon, he's beat Molgera. THIS THING IS NOTHING.

He doesn't speak - he's completely focused on this fight. Just hacking away at it doesn't seem to be doing the trick, though... he wonders what else he can try.

If anyone is interested, I have prepared some snacks and tea. I will have them set up in the Quad, so please feel free to stop by.

- Japan

[And he will be in the Quad in his black military uniform, snacks set out on display. They are all as Japanese as he could possibly get with stuff from town. They definitely look nice! And if Japanese cuisine is something you enjoy, it should be a nice change from the selection in the cafeteria. You might spot him passing some out, or offering some with a bow, or enjoying a cup of tea himself.]

[It's Time Compression fun again. Aang isn't really surprised to feel it happening this time, having already been through it twice. He is, however, surprised to find himself hiding behind a rock with Katara, Sokka, and Toph, staring at some Fire Nation family's drying laundry. He remembers this day; it was actually pretty good. So he grins and runs out from behind the rock to claim the clothes.]

I call the suit!

((ooc: Okay guys, you've all seen the episode, so this is pretty much a free-for-all. Aang knows everyone already, so if you want to thread something from later on, we'll assume he talked the Gaang into accepting them.))

[Returning to Garden after the Ottoman Empire had been a blessing. Damian'd been able to get his bearings, focus on getting his school life back into gear, and maybe being grateful that Garden was actually somewhat modern and... not as bad as he made it out to be.

So when he feels that time hiccup and that dizzy feeling again? Damian can't help feeling ill--especially moreso when he stares at his surroundings. A fancy party? Immediately, he rushes to the window - ignoring the fancy suit he's in - and presses his hands to the windows. Neo-Gotham. It'd be ridiculous to mistake it for anywhere else.

... And there's his family at a table near Mr. Wayne and McGinnis. All of these people are familiar and yet not--Hajie, his kid sister, seems older than when he last saw her. Did Time Compression lie about "bringing you back to the moment in which you came?" Sure seems like it.]

This wasn't the homecoming I expected.

[ Matthew hadn't been back long. He was still dressed in his SeeD uniform from the mission and was pacing somewhat nervously down the halls.

He had a note in his hand, the one from the headmaster about the disappearing offworlders. That never boded well. There was little to be done about Time Compression but he would at least keep his eyes open for anything suspicious.

And hopefully he could give a hand to any new cadets without them flipping out over these apparent disappearings. Nothing like a school full of panic.

At least he had some time to get his lesson plans together for the new term. He'd been super late getting back. (He fell asleep on the way back and somehow wound up across the continent oops.) and so he had to take these small silver linings where he could. ]

[The arrival and the letter had been strange enough to deal with. But Japan adapted. Classes? He could try this sort of thing while being wary of any danger. Of course he wondered what was happening back home, but the present always held a certain importance. He was perfectly fine with looking around the garden in order to learn more about this place.

...But, where was he, exactly?

WELL. Japan is lost. Wherever your character might be, feel free to have him be there, looking utterly confused and trying to figure out just where he is on his own. Maybe he stumbles into your character, quite literally, or just winds up where he really shouldn't be... Anything's fine!

[ Hands over his eyes, forehead pressed against a high stone wall, a boy counts out loud, pace slow to buy more time for those out of sight. For the moment, he's alone, and he should be, given the game he's playing. ]

Bes. Alti. Yedi. Sekiz...

[ On twenty, the boy uncovers his eyes, turns around, and walks away from the wall. A familiar face from a much younger time, he has the looks (as deceiving as they are) of one in his mid-teens. Different pieces here and there — more metal, more red, and not a speck of green, save for his eyes — but the overall look hasn't strayed too far from what's been seen. Gold bangles around his ankles clink together as he turns in place; aside from the light breeze and occasional songbird, it's the only sound to be heard in the small courtyard.

After a long pause there's a quiet gasp. He's taking in the afternoon scenery more than actively thinking of where to look for those in hiding.

My God. This place is... ]

[The acceptance letter's still in a crumbled heap in his left hand as he storms into the lobby. Damian had read it about four times and had memorized every word. And rather than quell him, it had the opposite effect. In fact, the reason he was in the lobby at all was to bash some heads in until someone gave some real answers--answers he wanted to hear.

As if he would actually attend this glorified boarding school.

The mere thought that someone thought he would simply roll over on the issue sent him into another fit of rage. He raises the crowbar he'd been clutching in his right hand and strikes the air with it. Several drops of the Joker's blood, which the tool is coated in, hits the floor. But hitting air didn't satisfy him in the slightest.]

Send me home immediately! I refuse to have any part in this foolishness!

[OOC Note: Since Damian was taken from Gotham as he was beating the crap out of the Joker with a crowbar, the Joker's blood is all over that bad boy. Though Damian is blissfully unaware, the blood on the crowbar has actually been mixed with Joker toxin, which in effect does this to its unsuspecting victim.

So basically if you choose to have your character approach Damian, know that your character has the potential to get hit with this toxin. It only effects skin contact, so if the blood hits clothing there won't be any effect (Damian's costume has splatters of it too, for that matter). You can totally have your character be unaffected by it if you so choose (either by staying a safe distance from the crazy ninja child with the crowbar or by assuming the blood will only hit their clothes, or however you want to do it), but if you want to have them be affected I thought that might lead to some interesting CR. Damian has the antidote on him in his utility belt and he will use it on anyone who winds up being affected (unless you piss him off first then it might take some guilting by a third party before he does it).]

[This will forever be unsigned.

Actually - Zuko can't believe he's posting this to the BBS, but who the hell is he going to go to for this sort of advice? Aang? Yeah right. And Sokka's not around-- wait, no, that might actually be a bad idea considering it's about uh Katara.

It takes Zuko a good ten minutes before he finally decides what to do and hits the POST button, frowning and shutting down the computer system before he can go back and delete it.

I need some advice.

I'll just get right to the point.

The punishments in place here at Balamb Garden are laughable. A lot of cadets, and yes, even SeeDs, break or have broken serious rules set in place for their protection. However, there is no discrimination on the severity of the misconduct and the default punishments are detention or punishment tours.

I doubt either would suffice to actually teach a lesson that rules are in place for a reason.

I've come up with a list of possible other punishments suitable for cadets, and possibly SeeDs.

Suggestions )
**Notes will be added as suggestions come along**

Again, these are only suggestions. Constructive criticism and opinions would be appreciated. As a note, while this post is aimed for the Headmaster, Commander Leonhart, faculty, instructors, and SeeDs, it is not limited to just them. All input will be welcomed.

There are a lot of new faces here (a big HELLO to you all!) at the Garden, which has been our home, for most of us, for almost year now. Why not point out all the great things we discovered, so the new cadets can start exploring and feeling at home? If there are things to look forward to, being in a totally new environment can seem less daunting!

Lets all share one thing we appreciate about the Garden. If there's more than one thing, then don't be afraid of making a list!

For me, I'm grateful for a severe lack of eggplants, and all the wonderful events!

Garden Festival Committee Leader

The GFC is always looking for school spirit amongst our peers! Please feel free to join up so we can make your experience here fun and memorable! Meeting time and places will be announced for the new quarter soon!
