[A long-term patient within the Infirmary is waking up from a very, very long sleep. He stares up at the ceiling for a moment, one hand pressed to his forehead as he tries to figure out why he's here and not fighting in the training center.]

...Ngh. [He sits up slowly, green eyes hazy as he comes to his senses. How did he get here? Is there anyone around?] Hello...?

[Several hours later, a new message is posted on the BBS:]

To my instructors, I'm sorry for my prolonged absence. Dr. Kadowaki let me leave the infirmary today. Is catching up... still possible? - Hassan, Gupta M.

(ooc: Say hi at the infirmary, or on the BBS, or even catch him walking around anywhere inbetween!)

[Allah_(swt) is the greatest! Damian doesn't think twice before immediately latching onto his babá. Wrapping his arms around his dad's waist, he sighs with so so much relief:]

Alhamdulillah. I was wondering when you'd wake up.

[Whoa, surprise wake-up call. Egypt looks down at him, blinking, initially surprised.] Ah — Damian.

[He hugs the kid back eventually, but fails to match Damian's energy. Nope, pretty much clueless.]

[He's not crying, he's really not. He swears!] You don't remember a damn thing, do you?

[O-oh god, no crying, please. What did Egypt mess up this time?]

...Kiku and Herakles. [He mumbles their names as he watches Damian, still holding him. And then it hits him, this surge of concern for his friends rather than himself.] They okay?

[Shit, what happened in the training center? Was he hurt there? Did the others get hurt, too?]

[Damian pulls away - somehow, in the mess of the hugging and crying, he'd drifted to sitting on his father's lap - and nods.] Yeah, they've been fine.

The only one "hurt", I guess, was you... they brought you in a few weeks ago and we didn't know when you'd wake up.

Weeks?

[Egypt definitely looks taken aback. He wants to swear, but refrains from doing so in front of Damian.]

[Not like Damian'd mind, considering he's got the tongue of a sailor. Still, he can't help biting his lip and trying to manage a smile for Babá's sake.]

At least you're awake now? Come on, Babá, it's not that bad...

[Egypt just returns the attempted smile with a vague one of his own. Damian gets a kiss on the forehead, too.]

[Holy freaking crap, what did he wake up to... At least he didn't wake up alone. He's glad for that.]

[He missed this so much. So very much.]

You didn't miss a lot, I don't think... and I can help you catch up. Promise.

[If he could feel the weeks-long absence himself, Egypt would have missed it greatly, too.]

Might fail without you. [A soft, playful tone masks his real anxiety. If he's missed this much class time... oh man. He's so screwed.]

Don't say that! I'm sure you'll be fine this Quarter. [He's pretty confident about it too, especially since his dad's pretty schway at everything.

He pauses after a moment, before grinning even wider:] One of my friends from back home's here now. You should meet her when we get out.

[Danny was situated in a bed not very far from Egypt. At first, when he came to the infirmary, he wondered who this sleeping stranger was and what had happened to him. But since then days had passed and Danny simply came to accept him there, almost as a fixture or a statue in the ward.

Which is why, when Egypt finally wakes and sits up, Danny catches the sight in his peripheral vision and has to stare for a few moments before speaking.]

Uh--hi!

You--you're awake.

[Words: he's good at them.]

[Egypt turns to the kid, blinking for a second before nodding his head in greeting. Glad to know he's not waking up completely alone.]

...What happened?

[Random infirmary patient, you are currently his only hope!]

[Random infirmary patient used EXPLANATION!]

Uhh...I don't actually know. You were kind of...already here when I came in.

[It wasn't very effective...]

Oh. [Blinkblink. The honesty is appreciated, at least. Maybe a doctor will come in eventually to fill him in on the details.]

[Egypt thinks for a moment, watching Danny before asking,] You okay? [You know, since the kid must be in bed for a reason.]

What?

Oh. Yeah. Feeling better right now, I think it's the medicine they've been giving me.

That's good... [He smiles, just barely. At least one of them knows that they're okay.]

...What about you? Are you feeling okay, now that you're, you know. Awake and all?

[Egypt presses his fingers to his temples and closes his eyes momentarily before looking back to Danny.]

Slight headache... 's fine. [He'll deal with it. This beats waking up to being mauled by a T-rexaur.]

Are you sure? Because, um, the nurses could give you some painkillers or something for that?

[Greece doesn't spend quite as much time in the Infirmary as Damian does, but he still checks in at least once a day or so just to see how Egypt's doing. Their kind doesn't... get knocked out like that. Not unless something's really wrong. So it's a great relief to see Egypt finally sitting up when he wanders in, a couple of books under his arm and a mug of coffee in hand.]

How was your nap?

[Egypt turns his head to watch Greece enter, a small smile gracing his features as he does so.]

Too long...

[He takes the seat beside Egypt's bed, rests his forearms on his knees.]

I think you've actually outdone me this time.

Feeling better. Really? Thank you. I missed you, too. [Well, not quite the same. For him it feels like he saw Vanille just a couple days ago.]

[Botan has been hanging around the Infirmary as of late, being so many sick cadets in there recently. She was just checking up on them once again, when she hears Hassan. She heads over and gives him a small smile.]

Hey there. You're awake.

There's no reason to assume catching up isn't possible, considering the circumstances were out of your control. Please come see me either tonight or before class on Monday. - Instructor Claire Farron

[He is just stepping into the room, ready for his usual visit, when he notices movement and a sound from the bed. His eyes widen before he rushes over.]

...you're awake...

[Wh-what's the rushing for? Gakupo looks so freaked out... whereas Egypt seems relatively chill as always.]

Mhm. [He just kind of. Nods. Yeah. Everyone's been pointing it out to him, but he can't blame them.]

[Gakupo frowns at him. Deeply.]

How can you be so calm after being in a coma for a MONTH?!

[After the incident, Japan had been visiting Egypt at least once a day. There was a lot of guilt and worry, after all...

He was surprised to see him awake, though!]

Egypt-san!

[N-no guilt is necessary. Well, that's what he'd say if he knew what happened exactly.]

Ah... al-Yābān? [Egypt sits up a bit straighter, blinking in surprise before nodding hello. Good to see you.]

Are you alright? Ah, you just... [trailing off]

I am glad to see you are awake.
