[There is a guy sitting in the middle of the quad. He looks incredibly happy to be there and he's not hiding it. He's got his legs crossed, a can of soda in his hands and he's smiling to himself.

He hums a tune as he pours the rest of his soda into his mouth, swishes it around before swallowing. With his continued beaming, he crushes the can in his fist and throws it diagonally cut across the entire quad, before it bounces off of one of the walls and lands into the trash can.

He pumps his fist before standing up, If you saw him standing, you may see a fairly faint trail of sparkles. If you watch him walk towards the cafeteria, with a particular spring in his step, you may notice some definite glittery sparkles as he half-skips to the door.]

((OOC: With a wee bit of backdating.))

[Mitsuru takes to the first day of school as if she was born to it, and getting up at 6:00 AM and learning about military strategy and para-magic was all part of a normal day. She moves through the morning classes without faltering, pen in hand and book bag close by. Notes are taken, material is absorbed, and through it all she keeps a steady, composed mask on.

That mask stays in place up until lunch break. Specifically, about fifteen minutes past noon. Lunch is eaten quickly, to the point that she barely tastes any of it, and then it's a straight line out of the cafeteria and to another spoke off the wheel. That tour of the Garden stays fresh in her mind, and she makes good time, wasting very little of the break with trying to find her way to the library. Once there, she's quick to pick out where all the books on Guardian Forces and Para-Magic have been placed. And makes record time in putting half of them on a study table, and frowning over the material.

Most of the lectures, she was able to take in stride. But getting into the theory of what a Guardian Force was…It still makes her feel restless, and causes an odd sense of deja vu to wash over her. Penthesilea isn't helping much in that regard, either. The Persona had been quiet during the daylight hours, but now is insistent on pressing up against her thoughts…And making it that much harder to process the material in front of her.

Mitsuru frowns again, and sets back into reading with a will.]

[Well...this is odd. Nunnally certainly doesn't recognize where she is. Certainly not the academy, home, or anywhere near. The scents are all wrong, and the sounds are a lot quieter than home has ever been. First, she had tried to wave her hand forward, to see if anything is before her. Nope.]

Ah. Excuse me?

[What happened after that was doubly strange. She was apparently now enrolled in this academy (truly?) and would have to take classes and abide by rules. Well that was...disconcerting, but she can certainly handle it! Yes!]

Excuse me...

[There is only a bit of an issue...]

Hello?

[She does not know this place inside and out and seeing as she can't see, she's somewhat of a lost kitten, seated in her wheelchair, shoulders turned inward in defeat.]

[Garden's favorite group of vicious girls are at it again. This time, they're sitting at a table near the lunch line in the cafeteria, and they're not at all trying to be discrete with what they're saying; in fact, their "whispers" are quite staged as they lean in close to speak with one another:]

Just when I thought they'd be gone for good, they keep coming back!

Seriously! They're worst than bite bugs. Can't they just stay gone?

What's worse is I think that there are more of them than ever. They just keep multiplying and multiplying!

[There is something very, very wrong. Or not maybe wrong, but definitely something weird.

Upon arriving to whatever place this was, Xiaoyu had immediately sought to find her companion, Panda. With her letter and course catalog clutched in hand, even the misery of having to attend a strange school was pushed aside in favor of searching for her best friend. She had searched the entire first floor, calling out for Panda over and over again-- and while she always received a faint yet familiar growl in response, after a half hour of looking the black and white bear was still nowhere to be found. A little strange, considering how Panda wasn't exactly the easiest pet to hide...

She is now sitting on the edge of the fountain in the lobby area, brows furrowed in concentration when she hears Panda's growl again, this time sounding a bit annoyed. That in itself was irritated Xiaoyu as well, and if Panda could somehow hear her, she would let it be known!]

It's not like I'm not trying to look for you, Panda! Don't get annoyed at me!

[OOC: So basically Xiaoyu is talking to herself because she has no idea that her panda had been transformed into a GF by Time Compression. This post is based on the assumption that people can communicate with their GFs mentally, which doesn't seem that far fetched, but if that's not allowed then let me know!]

[For once, Alistair had it together. He'd dropped his bags off in his room, and had decided to people watch. Hands resting over his stomach--those hot dogs had been even better with cheese--one can find him waving as students pass, as if he were a king making a public appearance to his beloved subjects.

In some realities, it might even be true. But today, he's only a SeeD back from assignment.]

Hey! How have you been? Lovely day we're having, isn't it?

[Unlike most of the cadets and staff who have been suffering the side effects of Time Compression, Quistis hasn't been swept away to another world or time during the last couple of weeks. She has noticed, however, a certain Commander's disappearance. At first she dismissed it as part of the wave of disappearances and reappearances that have been happening since the start of the month, but now that practically three weeks have passed and there has been no signs of Squall's return... she can't help but worry.

Trying to appear as calm as possible, she's making a round around Garden now, looking into every possible nook and cranny to see if she can find the Commander. Best to be absolutely sure he isn't seeking solitude somewhere than to assume the worse...]

[Not wanting to suck the life out of the quad and not feeling up to training, Snow had found himself a seat on one of the raised planters that held a few small trees and some decorative plants, out past the ID checkpoint in the landscaped area. There he sat, hands on his knees, head bowed, and thought.]

[In his right hand, he held a crystal.]

[Sent before Shadow leaves for Winhill]

Greetings,

I'll just get right to the point.

The punishments in place here at Balamb Garden are laughable. A lot of cadets, and yes, even SeeDs, break or have broken serious rules set in place for their protection. However, there is no discrimination on the severity of the misconduct and the default punishments are detention or punishment tours.

I doubt either would suffice to actually teach a lesson that rules are in place for a reason.

I've come up with a list of possible other punishments suitable for cadets, and possibly SeeDs.

Suggestions )
**Notes will be added as suggestions come along**

Again, these are only suggestions. Constructive criticism and opinions would be appreciated. As a note, while this post is aimed for the Headmaster, Commander Leonhart, faculty, instructors, and SeeDs, it is not limited to just them. All input will be welcomed.

[Oh hey! New/Returning Instructor!

Botan just returned from a long mission and is out about during breakfast, stretching her legs around the Lobby, noting the unchanged surroundings. There's something to be said about the feeling of being home. Even if it's not technically her home. She is humming softly, a folded piece of paper clutched in her hands.

After a few minutes, she leans up against the wall and unfolds the paper. If one looks carefully, they'll see that it's been opened and refolded several times. She seems to be lost in thought.]

More new cadets, hmm?

You know, Esthar's history is a lot more interesting than the city itself. You'd think a place this big would have more variety, but it's all the same - clean, shiny and blue. And everything seems to be run by computers.

Where's all the life in this place?

The feeling of flying, would that I could describe it to you.
The rush of air,
The wind flowing through hair,
Truly nothing else can ever compare
And I would give it away for you.

The ocean waves breaking their tide endless time and time again
The roaring crash
The feel of a briny splash
The salty depths that eternally clash
For you, you only need ask, and I'll forget all about the ocean

For every beautiful flower that ever would or could be
Painted red or blue
A different flower for every hue
But I'm sure by now, you know what I'd do
I'd grow you a garden and burn it all down, if ever you asked of me

And that is how you do ABBBA format. Am I the only one to prefer it to ABBA? Maybe it's because it's closer to a limerick with five lines.

There are a lot of new faces here (a big HELLO to you all!) at the Garden, which has been our home, for most of us, for almost year now. Why not point out all the great things we discovered, so the new cadets can start exploring and feeling at home? If there are things to look forward to, being in a totally new environment can seem less daunting!

Lets all share one thing we appreciate about the Garden. If there's more than one thing, then don't be afraid of making a list!

For me, I'm grateful for a severe lack of eggplants, and all the wonderful events!

[Guess who's finally doing his proper rounds as a member of the Disciplinary Committee? After probably weeks of avoiding Seifer - and it was hard, considering that no-good zift was pretty much everywhere - he'd finally been coerced into doing said rounds.

Of course, Robin didn't really like being out in costume. It'd been one of the stupidest decisions of his life, especially since he had no idea if he was still fooling people with his mathlete secret identity. (He doubted it, if Aang'd managed to figure it out so quickly.) Nevermind that it's break! He's a kid with a mission: to make sure those crazy kids get back into their rooms by curfew.

... This being Damian, of course, he might be patrolling a little too early. As in, by the time he starts patrolling the Quad and the lobby, it's still (barely) daylight. Overachiever much?]

[Sazh is currently making his way through the lobby when his little chocobo jumps out of his hair and lands in his hand. He stops and looks at the little bird.]

You feel like looking at the scenery, don't you? Can't blame you. It's a nice day out. [Sazh pauses in thought.] You know, now that I think about it, you haven't grown much. [The chocobo tilts its head at Sazh's observation and, before Sazh can react, it lifts itself out of Sazh's hand and flies out of reach.]

Hey now! Where do you think you're going? [The chocobo ignores anything Sazh does to get its attention and instead flies toward anyone close by.]

Guessing by all the BBS posts up today, I think most of you have seen the new issue of the newsletter. With that said, I'd like to state a formal apology addressed to the Cadets, SeeDs and Faculty in Garden.

I was the one that was caught waterbending by a native down at the beach in Dollet. I know, I know-- It was a stupid thing for me to do. I was overeager at the chance of being surrounded by my element and I made a bad judgment call. I should have been more mindful of my actions, as now my carelessness has caused for the natives to become wary of Garden.

But at the same time, I don't regret having exposed this sort of prejudice that the natives hold against us off-worlders. We're here because we don't have a choice-- if I had my way, I would be home where I wouldn't be ostracized for a natural ability that isn't viewed as a curse by the people of my world. Bending is an art form, a rare gift that only the few and proud possess. I shouldn't have to be ashamed of it or live in fear because of my ability.

Even if I do have the gift to manipulate water, I know better than to use it against innocent people. What's to say that everyone who has a unique ability immediately has ill intentions? Their ignorance isn't going to make our lives any easier during our stay in this world. There has to be a way to make them see us in a different light.

[ Enter the lobby and you'll find yourself a redhead, rubbing the back of her neck as she looks at the directory. What was she doing here? Amy was blaming this on the Doctor; somehow this had to be his fault. One way or another. How else would she end up back in school? Ugh. Wasn't she done with this?

Don't get her wrong. She was all about new planets, but she was promised Rio. Or at least some beachy, Rio-like planet. ]

I won't get marked off too much if I skip my first day, yeah? Probably just give me a warning - since, you know, I'm new and all.

[ She's debating with herself because she really doesn't feel like going anywhere. Especially class. But, she wouldn't mind seeing what other sort of places there were besides classrooms. Just a bit of research in case she wants to play hooky gets lost later. ]

I should get myself sorted first anyway. Hang on. What's a... Quad?

[He'd come away from the cafeteria with four hamburgers, that had been his first order of business.  Next Sora had found somewhere to eat them, and he'd found the Quad.  One of the meat patties had been taken out  and crumpled up and placed down in reach of an orange tabby cat who ate it up pretty quickly.  He let his eyes drift up to the sky.  The real, blue sky.]

So, whaddya think of this place?  It could be a trick, something to throw us off.  Except...  [Sora paused, letting his eyes drift close.  Feeling the fresh air, the warmth of the sun on his skin.]  It feels so real.

[Nothing more was said as he started in on the first hamburger.]
