[BBS] What's in an Ace?

You all may be wondering, "What's the deal with that Ace and Marco guy and why does Ace hate his guts?" So here is a handy reference guide!

"My" Ace was a pirate in my crew. He started off trying to kill my Pops, but because he protected his friends and sacrificed himself to save them, my Pops liked his style and asked him to join. Ace refused and spent the better part of half of a year still trying to kill him. Eventually he started to realize killing Pops wouldn't get Ace what he wanted and he agreed to join us instead. "My" Ace became one of my best friends even before he joined the crew and his fire logia and mad skills at pirating quickly made him a commander like me. He was not actually a pirate because he's a lawless scoundrel, he was a pirate because he valued freedom, his friends, and despite offers to join the marines as a legalized pirate (shichibukai) he knew they would want him dead if they know the whole story. That is one of the things I valued most about him. He was smart, loyal, brave, and he accepted people for who they really are even if he often thought others wouldn't accept him like that in return.

The Ace you see here insists he's from a different world than mine, even though he looks and primarily acts just like my Ace, he's sick of me explaining it individually (apparently). Without giving away any Ace-secrets; he's still loyal, friendly (to everyone who isn't a pirate apparently), helpful, cheerful, driven, and with his own code of justice. He would rather I gave up on him entirely, but that is something I'll never do because it would be like giving up on my best friend, no matter how much the Ace here would rather just cut my heart out to eat it. That said, I'm not going to force friendship on you Ace Commodore, but neither will I ever give up. If you want my space, I'll attempt to give it. As for why Ace hates me, personally I think you're better off asking him, but really it's just because he's a marine and I have this spiffy tattoo of which he's secretly jealous because all he's got is a justice hat and cap. Is there anything else you'd like me to cover Sparky?

Yours was a lot more elaborate since you had it done the same way as Pops and across your back. Only yours was purple because you had some obsession with colors.

No, as I said in the post, he kept trying to kill Pops. He joined because Pops loved him like a son.

It's a powerful thing to try to keep resisting Commodore.

So I'm told. Certain key events don't seem to have happened in his world; but it's debatable whether they happened and they're just keeping him in the dark. I keep myself far better informed than most marine commodores.

... I'd rather not think of the infinite possibilities. If my old man shows up as a Fleet Admiral who wants me dead I'll seriously just run away from the Garden. Although actually, if that happened, I think everyone would run.

Well the ones I brought up with him aren't common knowledge, and given that it's him they probably just hid it from him.

I can't think of too many good ones regarding alternate worlds.

I'm flattered, even if he would be insulted. Normally I'd say it was because we're from the same crew. With this Freckles, I can only guess he met someone like me in the marines or something. It's a strange supposition.
