Hi everyone!
As co-leader of the GFC, I'd like to ask you all what kinds of things you would like to see in our end of year Garden Festival, be it a specific tradition from your world or something broader like a concert. This festival will be a three day celebration, so go nuts on suggestions! (We may use them in future GFC events if we can't cram them into this one.)
What we natives have planned so far is, per a local holiday honoring Shiva, mostly built around being warm and friendly to your fellow man and woman - or pony or chameleon or whatever - by giving time and money to those less fortunate or in need of a little extra help, and giving presents to our loved ones. There will be a school fair for students and staff to sell arts, crafts, and food of their own making which would make wonderful gifts, volunteer work, a feast, and a traditional release of candles on the ocean. More details will be released closer to the time! [Ongoing poll for the dates here. We're leaning towards the 26th to the 28th as suggested outside the thread but still on that post, but can be swayed if this doesn't work for a lot of people.]
We would love to include traditions from other worlds in our festival and have a truly united celebration, so please help us help you celebrate!
