BBS; Russell Drake's ID: A message from the GFC (backdated to last week)
Hi everyone!
As co-leader of the GFC, I'd like to ask you all what kinds of things you would like to see in our end of year Garden Festival, be it a specific tradition from your world or something broader like a concert. This festival will be a three day celebration, so go nuts on suggestions! (We may use them in future GFC events if we can't cram them into this one.)
What we natives have planned so far is, per a local holiday honoring Shiva, mostly built around being warm and friendly to your fellow man and woman - or pony or chameleon or whatever - by giving time and money to those less fortunate or in need of a little extra help, and giving presents to our loved ones. There will be a school fair for students and staff to sell arts, crafts, and food of their own making which would make wonderful gifts, volunteer work, a feast, and a traditional release of candles on the ocean. More details will be released closer to the time! [Ongoing poll for the dates here. We're leaning towards the 26th to the 28th as suggested outside the thread but still on that post, but can be swayed if this doesn't work for a lot of people.]
We would love to include traditions from other worlds in our festival and have a truly united celebration, so please help us help you celebrate!

- A Winter Ball
- Ice Sculpting Contest (seriously, creativity with GF's anyone?)
Just to name a couple.

Maybe instead of a winter ball, maybe a winter sports competition in the name of good fun?

[She wants to check up on her friends that survived the missile attack, obviously. Ulterior motives for the win.]

[You figure stuff like that would be entered into History and all that jazz. She's not going to mention the devastation she felt that day. It's a pain that still lingers in her and still has her wishing that she could've done more to prevent Trabia's destruction.]

Whoa, you had me scared for a moment that something had happened.

Did I? Sorry about that! I didn't mean to.

Oh my god, you're a GFC legend. The GFC still talks about the Garden Festival you held in FH!
I'm Russell Drake, and my co-leader Zainah Coppell and I would love to meet you.

More candles are placed the next new moon or overcast night to light up the night, stories are told and talents are shared. It is during that night that children are named and lovers often come together. Weddings are often performed within the following week for those who wish Shiva's blessing upon their union.
Instead of gifts, carved ice with candles within them are given to those you admire. They are also floated on water for those who have departed.
