[ Squall had left the meeting shortly after the dismissal. He'd had nothing to say, nothing to really contribute. Only his thoughts, which he kept mostly to himself. It was pretty obvious what he thought of some of the new faces; they might last the week, they might last the month. Who really knew about the new cadets.

He was a little relieved that Cid hadn't asked him to make a speech of some sort, what with his position as Commander of Garden. Besides, Cid had said it all.
]

(--still need to figure out how these guys ended up here. One right after the other, it doesn't make any sense.)

[ If any of the new cadets needed something, Squall would stop and do his best to answer whatever questions they had. That was why he'd hopped the elevator down to the main level of Garden. Although ... a little part of him was hoping they wouldn't approach him and left him to his own affairs.

Which, currently, was walking back to the elevator to take up to his dorm room after he'd done a brief walk around.

[ It's a bright, fresh day in the small island country of Balamb, such fine weather a certain sign of auspice. Sounds of gulls crying and waves crashing, and the liveliness of a sea-side town not even a few miles away, can be heard by the students and occupants of Balamb Garden.

Most students are dutifully busy with their regular schedules, paying little heed to climate or clamor, but today is not merely the same as any other. Confronting the continuous flow of curious new arrivals, Headmaster Cid has taken it upon himself to hold an initiation ceremony for the misplaced.

At exactly 1930 hours, these special cadets are to be present in his [3F] office, dressed in their brand new uniforms. It goes without saying that any of the new arrivals not present will be subject to disciplinary action.

Headmaster Cid stands to the fore, his position prominent yet his appearance much more homely and welcoming than one would expect from a military academy's chief. As the invited cadets enter the room, he has a nod for each and every one of them.

At 1930 hours on the minute, he begins his speech.
]

--At ease, Cadets.

First of all, welcome. I assume you must all be very confused, no? Don't worry, we are all in this boat with you. The long and short of it is, due to catastrophic events in our own world, you've been drawn here from your own. It is unknown how, or if, this may be reversed, and unfortunately some nations aren't readily accepting of foreigners. They may, in fact, be terrified of you.

That isn't the case here. We understand your situation and sympathize, and are offering safe lodging to cadets and civilians alike until such a time as your situations have been sorted out.

However... Garden isn't independently wealthy, and can only support so many people on its own. That's where you come in, our promising new SeeD cadets.

From now on, as a member of the SeeD training program, each of you will engage in strenuous training courses and exercises as part of a daily regimen designed to develop and hone your skills. Because all present were accepted to the program, I assume you've read through all of the information manuals?

We are proud to accept you as SeeD cadets, Balamb Garden's mercenary soldiers in training. SeeD soldiers are combat specialists. But that is only one aspect of SeeD. When the time comes...

[ Headmaster Cid clears his throat and continues speaking. ]

That is all. This ends the SeeD Cadet initiation ceremony. Dismissed!

[ The Garden chime sounds at exactly 2000 hours, marking the end of the ceremony and the beginning of the Cadets' new lives in Balamb. Faculty members show the Cadets out of the office. Dinner is now being served in the cafeteria, and Cadets have the rest of the day to themselves, where they may partake in private tours of the Garden, get to know each other or simply relax. ]

*...he's not exactly comfortable in the uniform. Oh, it fits fine, he can move perfectly well in it, it's even a little bit stylish. But the fact remains that this is a uniform for a SeeD, or at least somebody who wants to be a SeeD... along with everything that implies, although he doesn't much know what it implies yet, considering how little he's familiar with the workings of this crazy place.

But it's for a SeeD. And Murasame Tsukumo isn't really a SeeD, or anyone who wants to be. He is a Zweilt. And it's more than a little disorienting that that means nothing here.

He's wandering around the Quad right now after dinner, listening to the murmur of mental voices around the Garden and continuing to try and get his bearings. It might be hard to believe he's really in a different world from where he was before, except... not only is nobody around him speaking Japanese, he can't sense his sister's voice anywhere. He's never been so far away from Touko that he couldn't still hear her before, and it's a little scary. Not knowing anyone, not hearing anyone familiar.

.....clearly the solution is candy. So don't mind him as he stops right in the middle of the courtyard to dig around his pockets before producing a package of gummies.*

...hmm.

*staring at it mournfully, mumbling to himself in Japanese*

Wonder if they have gummies here... I hope this isn't my last package.

((Hello :D If you care to tag with Tsukumo, he's a psychic, so I'd appreciate your filling out this permissions form so I don't overstep my bounds with your chara. Also, his spoken English is not that great, but if he can hear your thoughts then he can understand you regardless of language.))

Good evening, cadets. My name is SeeD Quistis Trepe, and I would like to take a moment to welcome you all to Garden.

I have no doubts that many of you may be a bit overwhelmed with your current situation. My own presence was brought forth to the present as a result of the Time Compression, though I am not foreign to this world-- I'm merely pulled from a different time. Therefore, I'd like to offer my aid to any cadets who need help in making a smooth transition to life on Garden.

Please, feel free to contact me if you have any questions; I'd be more than happy to help.

[ Ashe is currently sitting outside the dining hall, empty plate and tray beside her. She's got her hands clasped to her chest, and seems lost in thought.. Obviously not happy about being here, and even more upset that she had no choice but to become a SeeD cadet. Her legs are crossed at the ankles, and she's still in her uniform, no less, having not opted to return to her dorm just yet.

Going there would, basically, mean that this was reality and that she wasn't getting home any time soon. ]

[She stands there, simply squinting at the scenery. She's standing right in the Lobby, not quite sure if she wants to venture further in or not. She looks rather uncomfortable about the whole thing, really, but you'd never be able to easily tell.

She lets out a small breath.]

I would really rather find a way back home.

SEIFER 001.

[ Little of what Headmaster Cid had said came as news to him. Seifer basically lived in Balamb Garden and though he had a slight... detour from his uprising as a SeeD, he's familiar with the Garden's grounds. So familiar that he once again took up the task of being the Head of the Disciplinary Committee - a job that he would continue to assume as his for as long as necessary. He had stood in the far back, listening to the speech with his head tilted and his arms crossed. His eyes had been scanning the crowd of newbies. He wondered where the hell Fujin and Raijin were, but didn't exactly worry too much, for having learned about the mess Ultemicia caused to his world led him to believe that perhaps they had been caught up in those jolts of time - like himself had.

At the dispatch, Seifer was the first to leave. He had simply attended to the ceremony because he wanted to see new faces. Not because Seifer had some kind of welcoming strike, but because he had to now who would be added to the famous list of his.

And at the moment he was patrolling the corridors of the Garden to ensure that no newbie tried to overstep his rules, the only rules he followed (not that it was a very common occurrence either).

[Humming softly to herself as she toured the Garden in her lonesome, Aerith came to an abrupt stop once she spotted the foyer up ahead. Gazing at the empty corridor with a slightly curious expression, Aerith continued cautiously along the hallway with a little smile upon her lips. Unlike many of the newcomers here today, the girl opted to take things with stride after hearing the Headmaster's words. There was no need for panic here, at least not yet. Judging by the attitude of the SeeD cadets here, they seemed nice enough to let a much of strangers live within their facilities, and that was good enough for Aerith.]

I wonder what caused this...[She muttered to herself quietly as she stalked along aimlessly.]

Everything feels so surreal! I almost can't believe this is a different world. It's kind of eerie.

[Hoping that Cloud and the others were okay, Aerith let out a deep sigh once she came across the cafeteria nearby. There were so many people there, too many to count but most of them were newcomers like her. Wondering if she would spot a familiar face within the crowd, Aerith continued with her little adventure through the Garden.]

I had better be careful~! I don't want to get lost.

[So far, not so good. Espio was, understandably, really rather frustrated with the whole situation. There were plenty of bigger problems to be worried about, but at this point, he was far more focused on the trivial problems, of which there was a rather long list. He was trying to just get on with it, but he was indeniably in a poor mood.

Right now, the subject of his frustration was the uniform. He'd had to forgo parts of it, specifically the trousers, and the rest of it was uncomfortable to say the least. He'd been very tempted to just throw the whole thing away and attend the initiation without, but figured he could at least make the effort.

The jacket had come straight off when he'd got off the elevator. Espio headed straight for the directory, wondering where he could go to burn off some stress, and proceeded to talk to himself.
]

Right, this thing. Training centre - and hah! I'd probably get "disciplinary action" for "training" without any training! Could go have a look, though. The library might have something worth looking at, too. Or...

[Taking a moment to find it, he pulls a sheet of paper out of the uniform jacket's interior pocket and surveys his schedule.]

I could go find out where the classrooms are, since I don't think I can get out of this. Like I need half of these classes anyway...

[ Zell had been more than surprised to find out he'd somehow traveled forward through time - twenty years? That's longer than he's been alive, okay? - and was doubly surprised when he realized so many people had gotten mixed up in the time compression as well. He was glad to hear a lot of them were going into the SeeD program, though everyone looked so confused he couldn't tell whether they were happy about it or not. ]

Yo, new people. I don't know why you came here or anything, but if anyone's lost or confused or whatever, you can talk to me! The name's Zell. I'm a SeeD here, so if you're a cadet, I can help you out with that too. Don't be afraid to come up to me, either. I don't bite, I swear!

[ After that little spiel, he pauses, frowning as a faint grumbling noise catches him off guard. ]

...uh, heh. I'll be in the cafeteria if you need me. MAN, I'm starving.

[ Aaand he runs off. Chow time, aw yeah. ]

[ While this strange new place had at least given her someone that readily explained the situation, that still didn't make Lightning feel wholly at ease. She still has many questions, but given her upbringing, Lightning knows an order to dismiss and readily follows it. Besides, she didn't want to start trouble in a place she doesn't know. Amidst new faces in a new environment, it was best to go with the flow.

[ And so... here she is, on her way to the Training Center. After giving a thorough tour of the Garden and grabbing a bite to eat, Lightning feels that this part of the Garden would serve her well... for various purposes. That, and she's yet to find any of her comrades amongst the hustle and bustle of the Garden. Perhaps the nature of this Time Compression somehow swallowed her up first, and the rest were soon to follow? Lightning frowns at the idea, eyes idly glancing down at her schedule in hand. ]

A "Cadet," huh...

[Kamui was the epitome of unhappiness at the situation, no matter how ironic it was. He ended up in a military school, of all places! Plus, he had to wear a weird uniform. He was eternally grateful that there was an explanation and someone to let him know what was going on.

He somehow managed to get outdoors, only to encounter a massive flock of new faces. He took out his paperwork, noting his dorm number, cadet number, and classes. So far, he didn't need to panic...much.]

Everything is so confusing! [Looks around.] And this place is huge. [He lets out a frustrated sigh and looks at a map he took out.] So, I'm here, and I need to go there...
