[Night has fallen on Balamb Garden; the halls of Garden are mostly deserted besides the stray student walking about, and even the usual faculty members are missing from their posts around the school. There's a certain festive energy through the air, the source coming from the Ballroom cheerily decorated located on the second floor.

At exactly 2100, as soon as the dinner rush ends, the Garden chime sounds and the intercom clicks on. The Headmaster speaks to the Garden.]

The Graduation Ball is now beginning. Your attendance is requested at [2F] Ballroom.

I repeat, the Graduation Ball is now beginning. Your attendance is requested at [2F] Ballroom. The dance will run until 2400. Students leaving the ball after curfew are to return to their dorms immediately.


[After the announcement, the intercom falls silent. The faint sound of music can be heard from the second floor of the building.]

The dance isn't mandatory, so students that choose not to attend won't be punished. The Headmaster, Garden faculty and even some of the instructors are all present at the dance, so troublemakers are free to roam until 2400. The dance itself will last from 2100-2400 in the second floor ballroom and the music will be the same kind of upbeat peppy orchestrated pieces that the game used. Caterers will roam offering drinks and refreshments to attendants, as well a stationary stand for punch and food is offered.

Newly graduated SeeDs are required to wear their uniforms. Otherwise, the occasion is black tie. All inhabitants of Garden are welcome to the festivities.

[Raine hasn't been to something so fancy. It had taken some time, but she'd found something to wear eventually, and then she had gone. Why not? she needs a break, too, even if Laguna isn't here to be her dance partner. Might as well mingle. And she looks quite lovely (http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=38044992), it seems. Currently, she can be found mingling.]

Love the dress! [Though Sharpay thinks it a bit matronly for her to ever wear herself, she does think it suits Raine, and she's fascinated by the shawly drapey element to it.

[Sharpay herself is a little toned down for Sharpay: Black dress with a red belt and gold heels, nothing particularly sparkly; the colors are a nod to the new SeeDs without taking attention away from them.]

[Ugh...these uniforms are ugly! But Grell goes with the flow. She wears her hair in a high ponytail with her newest SeeD uniform is a huge step up from the cadet one, though. She spruced it up with a pair of red pumps.

Finally becoming a SeeD, she looks at the doors to the ballroom, flattening invisible wrinkles. Yes, the Grell Sutcliff is a bit nervous, but she's not surprised she passed!

The doors are pushed open by slender hands with red painted nails as she makes her grand entrance.]

[Bulla arrives a couple of minutes after Grell. She strolls over to greet her friend, sporting her SeeD uniform. The uniform itself is all standard regulation but she's accessorized with some jewelry and a matching clutch purse.]

We did it!

[Don't worry Grell, Rinoa took a few liberties with the uniform too. She's wearing a cute pair of black boots that look both pretty but they're practical too. Practical footwear just seems sensible with a uniform in her mind. That and boots are like her signature look.]

Well, we made it. Feels kind of weird doesn't it?

[He really couldn't believe that he made it. An actual SeeD! All the hard work he put into really did pay off. As happy as Gakupo is, he's still concerned about the future of the GFC. Will Mikuru take his spot? He really hopes so. There is so much potential in her that could really benefit everyone there.

As he pours himself some punch, he's lost in his thoughts. Thus, the punch is overflowing from his cup and over his hand. He doesn't notice.]

[Mikuru watches him from a distance for a moment, then approaches and takes the punch from him, smiling kindly at him.]

[Zephyr sidles into the ballroom, looking terribly uncomfortable in his black-tie attire, and when he spots Rikku, he wanders over, hands in his pockets. He greets her with a slight tilt of the chin.]

[Her second ever SeeD ball and this time it's partially in her honor. Who would have seen that coming? It's a great feeling though to know that she's come so far and achieved so much. Anyone watching her walk might notice that it practically looks like someone had used float on her when she wasn't paying attention. That's right, she's practically on Cloud Nine at the moment.]

[Over social girl that she is, those who know her will bee surprised to find that she's currently playing wallflower with a flute of celebratory punch in one hand. Maybe it's silly, but it feels right to stand where Squall was standing the night she met him. She'll probably wander off later, but for now she's going to bask in her accomplishments and people watch. All while subtly trying to find her friends.]

[Bulla may be a freshly graduated SeeD, but that doesn't mean she's going to let herself become so professional that she forgets to have fun. Although she's not as fond of her new uniform as Rinoa is, she does like it much better than the cadet uniform. It's more elegant, at least. As long as she doesn't have to take on missions while wearing it. A skirt like this one is less than ideal for a martial arts specialist.

She sneaks up behind Rinoa and puts her hands over her friend's eyes. At first she doesn't speak, to see if Rinoa will guess who it is. Not that the height won't be a very strong hint. There aren't many people who are noticably shorter than Rinoa who would also be wearing the SeeD uniform.]

[There's no way Lea's skipping out on a a party. Come on! And it's the last night of freedom before classes start. Maybe it'll cheer him up a bit; he's not admitting it because it's stupid, but it's been almost a couple of weeks now, and he's, well, homesick. Missing his best friend. Hoping he doesn't end up in combat class with that one guy who explodes dinosaurs by kicking them. Whenever he makes it home they won't miss him, but this ball's all about people who've been stuck here for years. What if he doesn't get out all that time? What if he changes?

He's hanging out near the buffet stand, cheering himself up by sampling the snacks. He looks pretty uncomfortable in the cadet uniform -- he didn't have any fancier clothes, and a suit is just not happening -- but he's gonna have to get used to it sooner or later, so he's keeping his chin up.]

[Bulla's in a great mood, having freshly graduated. She's sporting her brand new SeeD uniform proudly. It feels like she finally really worked at something and earned it. It's very different than the lap of luxury she was born into, but it's not a bad thing. If anything, it's given her more confidence in herself and motivation to get stronger and become even more competent. Until she has the chance to go home, she can do some good here.

[Gamzee completely didn't even take the SeeD exam for two reasons. One, he was still relatively new, so graduating so fast after enrolling would just be a no-no. Second of all, he had no clue it was going on. Must have hardcore spaced or something.

He's in the corner of the ballroom now, pies all around him, not even wearing anything formal. He's just curled up and taking a nice nap, slime dripping from his mouth and fingertips.

[It took a hugely embarrassing amount of derping for several days, but eventually, Data Riku found himself in the ballroom -- the world's most awkward digital pet-site turtle, in a cadet uniform as he had seen one of the other guys doing, at the SeeD graduation ball. It was more than slightly daunting to think that in less than a year, he would be one of the people for which this party was being thrown -- and by the looks of the SeeDs he was seeing (they were the ones with the different uniforms, right?), he didn't think he was ever going to be able to take part in that kind of activity...]

[He's sitting on the sidelines somewhere, tugging at his uniform. Maybe if he just watched the others for half an hour or two, he would be able to get out there and do... erm... something. Whatever they were doing.]

[Nepeta isn't attending the ball, but she can still faintly hear the music from the place she had perched herself in the Quads. Even though she had ended up enjoying going to the Homecoming dance, she still preferred to avoid big, formal parties like the one going on now.

Besides it was sort of nice to have the first floor so deserted! All the teachers and staff were attending which meant that she could walk around with her cats without having to worry about being caught.

She was sitting down near the garden in the Quads, two cats curled up on her lap, a third one on her head and the fourth running around the flowers.]

[Rose had no interest in the ball as well - she wasn't in the mood for social gatherings at the moment, and the people it was celebrating weren't particularly close to her. and yet she was too full of restless energy to remain in her dorm.

so she did what any troubled young girl would do in the circumstances - take her kitten (Duchess Madeline le Mewfus, thank you very much) out for a walk in the deserted halls. there's a jingle from a cat toy as it rolls into the first floor, with the Duchess following close behind. Rose is slower to emerge, taking several minutes to appear behind her charge.]

He's mostly going to play wallflower, occasionally grabbing a snack. Maybe when nobody's looking he'll bow out. It's... weird thinking of how long some of these people have been around. Leaves him a little wary, really.]

[Damian, on the other hand, is thoroughly enjoying himself. Between socializing with the other kids and snagging a dance from one of the natives, life's pretty good.

[Balls and dances and all the glitz and glamour of it wasn't really Riku's thing in general. He's almost been a bit more sullen lately with the arrival of both a data copy and another him from some other universe entirely (one that had him as the hero no less). He was thankful that the classes had started up again and gave him something else to focus on.

He hangs around the walls for now, occasionally tugging at the collar of his uniform and feeling strange having his hair tied back yet again. It was strange to think that people had been in this world long enough, and although the classes would lead to becoming a SEED eventually, it wasn't really Riku's desire to become one. He still had to go home, and still make sure that Sora is safe.

He only really came to the ball for Kairi's sake, and he keeps reminding himself of that fact.]

[ Luckily--or unluckily--for Riku, Kairi's there to accompany him. She strides up, with her pink dress swaying enticingly around her knees, to touch his arm. She's enjoying the atmosphere, but well aware of her best friend's foul mood; she'd met both the 'data copy' and the other Riku...but Kairi had never been on to let a bad mood run rampant. ]

[If there's one thing obvious about Ardos, it's that crowds attract him. So, of course, he's here. However, he's also hiding in a corner--because he doesn't know how to dance. He's altered his form--easy enough--so he at least appears well-dressed, but other than that, he sits there, observing and hoping no one bothers him while he enjoys the emotions in the air.]
