Graduation Ball

[Night has fallen on Balamb Garden; the halls of Garden are mostly deserted besides the stray student walking about, and even the usual faculty members are missing from their posts around the school. There's a certain festive energy through the air, the source coming from the Ballroom cheerily decorated located on the second floor.

At exactly 2100, as soon as the dinner rush ends, the Garden chime sounds and the intercom clicks on. The Headmaster speaks to the Garden.
]

The Graduation Ball is now beginning. Your attendance is requested at [2F] Ballroom.

I repeat, the Graduation Ball is now beginning. Your attendance is requested at [2F] Ballroom. The dance will run until 2400. Students leaving the ball after curfew are to return to their dorms immediately.

[After the announcement, the intercom falls silent. The faint sound of music can be heard from the second floor of the building.]

( Mod note: You may participate in the dance in comments to this post, or opt to make your own new post/log.

The dance isn't mandatory, so students that choose not to attend won't be punished. The Headmaster, Garden faculty and even some of the instructors are all present at the dance, so troublemakers are free to roam until 2400. The dance itself will last from 2100-2400 in the second floor ballroom and the music will be the same kind of upbeat peppy orchestrated pieces that the game used. Caterers will roam offering drinks and refreshments to attendants, as well a stationary stand for punch and food is offered.

Newly graduated SeeDs are required to wear their uniforms. Otherwise, the occasion is black tie. All inhabitants of Garden are welcome to the festivities.

Should players have any questions left unanswered feel free to ping the mods on AIM or via PM. )

Sure thing. [He shoots her a grin.] Hey, I haven't heard a lot about the clubs, do you know who's taking over that fight club from you?

[Because fashion might not be his thing as much, but the other one sounds awesome.]

[identity profile] shops-a-lot.livejournal.com 2011-10-14 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
You know, I'm actually not sure. But one of the Headmaster's conditions for Fight Club was that at least one SeeD had to be there to supervise, so I'm still going to be involved. I'll put something up on the BBS about it soon, after everyone gets settled in their new classes.

Really? Awesome! I'll keep an eye out. It sounds pretty fun.

[He reaches out to clap her companionably on the shoulder.] I'm glad I ran into you, Bulla!

[identity profile] shops-a-lot.livejournal.com 2011-10-14 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
[Bulla smiles and holds out her fist for a friendly fist-bump if Lea is so inclined.]

If you need any help with stuff around Garden, let me know, Lea. I'm probably not the best person to ask for help with magic and GFs since my specialty was martial arts, but I can help with other stuff.

[identity profile] vestigiaflammae.livejournal.com 2011-10-14 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[It takes him a second to figure out what she's doing, but once he gets it he's happy to bump fists.]

Hey, I'm gonna take all the fighting classes I can fit in too. [He grins.] That way, if magic kicks my butt I'll still be okay!

[identity profile] shops-a-lot.livejournal.com 2011-10-15 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
It's a good idea to know how to junction and learn some of the magic, though. I'm a lot stronger than I look and I can take a hit, so I junction for magic to help with that. And then there's other cures and things to deal with status effects monsters can hit you with. Those are a real pain.

[identity profile] vestigiaflammae.livejournal.com 2011-10-15 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
[Grinning.] Don't worry about that, I'm kinda planning to major in it! -- I just don't really know [handwave] what it's like yet.

[identity profile] shops-a-lot.livejournal.com 2011-10-15 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Balancing fighting and magic is a good idea. The magic is...pretty useful if you know what you're doing with it.

[Bulla tries to think of any helpful advice she can offer to a cadet who's just been here a couple of weeks.]

Oh! And you'll want to be careful not to use GFs too much. They can cause memory loss over time, so it's best to save using them for really tough battles.

[identity profile] vestigiaflammae.livejournal.com 2011-10-15 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait a minute, memory loss? Does that happen whenever you use magic, or just for the [handwave, what's it called, oh well whatever] -- just when you use the GF?

[identity profile] shops-a-lot.livejournal.com 2011-10-15 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Just the GF. You're fine if the Guardian Force is junctioned and you're not using it, and using magic won't do that to you. Using the GF won't make you lose your memories right away...but that's why you should only use them in an emergency.

[identity profile] vestigiaflammae.livejournal.com 2011-10-15 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, okay, gotcha. I'll be careful.

[Forgetting things... that's a scary thought. He looks a little serious for a moment.]

[identity profile] shops-a-lot.livejournal.com 2011-10-16 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
They're also a major drain on your magical energy, so there's that to keep in mind, too. Don't get me wrong, they are useful. But there are plenty of downsides.

[identity profile] vestigiaflammae.livejournal.com 2011-10-16 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
Huh... I'm probably just gonna stick to the spells, then! I don't wanna forget anybody.

[identity profile] shops-a-lot.livejournal.com 2011-10-16 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
It's supposed to take a pretty long time before you forget anything like that...you're more likely to forget specific memories at first.

[identity profile] vestigiaflammae.livejournal.com 2011-10-16 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Even that kind of thing can be important, though.
