Fourth wall mingle post

[For the regular denizens of Balamb Garden, it's an ordinary day...until more off-worlders start showing up, for only a few hours at a time. Unsure what to make of these more temporary visitors, the Garden faculty is holding off on registering them as cadets or offering them jobs.

[Maybe someone you know might turn up?]

Mod note, to reiterate:

4th wall characters can only be seen at certain hours of the day. They may appear for two hours a day, or four... or seen only in the early morning... the time doesn't matter to us, but they're not permanently here. They may return to Garden again through the rest of the month, but they're not around 24/7.

Like apped characters, 4th wall characters can't be ridiculously-sized. Transformers, Gundams, and similar concepts/characters will become human-sized (and in the case of mechas, not allowed altogether.)

Players (like you and me) are not allowed to visit Garden. We're breaking the 4th wall, not destroying it altogether!

Apart from this post, 4th wall characters are free to reply to open posts in witchesreign or open logs in concoursec. Apped players have the option of closing their posts to in-game characters only.

All BBS posts are locked to in-game characters only. 4th wall characters do not have access to any sort of logged in posts unless they hijack someone else's log-in---and in those cases, we need to know this beforehand.

For those unfamiliar with the setting, here is more info on Balamb Garden's facilities and layout. Additionally, some of the NPCs around and some player characters may be wearing Balamb Garden's cadet or SeeD uniform.

[This guy's wandering around with a camera, filming anything that looks remotely cool, and even the completely mundane.]

Sharpay, I know you're skeptical, but believe me, this isn't anywhere in New York or Indiana.

[Don't worry; he's not talking to you (nor Sharpay, who is nowhere in sight): He's just laying down some audio.]

[Guy with a camera... Tom's first instinct is to flinch. He's certainly not one for the spotlight.

But the mention of his girlfriend's name definitely pings him.]

... Sharpay? Like Sharpay Evans?

[SPEAKING OF BEING PINGED BY HIS GIRLFRIEND'S NAME.]

Yeah, that's her! Are you a fan? [His girl's a Broadway star; he's used to random guys knowing her name.]

[Uh.]

Her biggest, of course. You a friend of hers from back home?

[filming]

[It does yet not occur to Peyton that Sharpay might be here, so his interpretation of "back home" is a bit off.] Oh, no, not from Albuquerque. But yeah, I'm her boyfriend.

[He grins. The "friend" assumption doesn't really put him off considering he tries to stay out of the media, at least in connection to her (he'd rather get famous on his own merits as a filmmaker, not on his girlfriend's coattails), and she's been pretty coy about him in interviews.]

[Wait what.]

Boyfriend. Really? [Tom's a terrible actor, so he's not even hiding the fact that he's totally judging Peyton from head-to-toe. He doesn't look like a baker...]

... You're not Zeke, are you?

[filming]

[Come on, man, he's not even in full hipster gear... Still, he doesn't appreciate that look, so he sideeyes Tom as he switches the camera off and puts his camera hand down. Sharpay does not need to see this part of his interworld adventures.]

Nooooo, my name's Peyton. Peyton Leverett. [He's seen photos of Zeke on Facebook and he looks nothing like the guy - and it's been over a year since Sharpay was remotely involved with him, so what the hell?]

Sorry, am I missing something here? [And that might be just a little accusatory. You brought the judgment first, man.]

[Hey now, give Tom some credit, he's not immediately going HIPSTER!! Still, it's taking all of his strength to smile at the moment. He's not really in the mood for a fight of any kind.]

More like I'm missing something. Last I heard, Sharpay broke up with Zeke...

So if she got a new boyfriend in the meantime, I think I'd know, considering she's been here for the last two and a half years.

Yeah, she broke up with him over a year ago. [Ancient. History.]

I think I'd know if she was here for two and a half years, considering I left her, like, ten minutes ago.

[werepanther]

[sigh.]

That's the worst part about Time Compression: you think you and your friends come from the same points in time, but they don't....

You wouldn't happen to be a sci-fi fan, would you? That'd make this a whole lot easier to explain.

[Peyton shoves his camera in his bag and folds his arms.]

No, not really. I've gotten the "Time Compression, other world" speech already. But - she's here?

[werepanther]

Yeah. Like I said, she's been here for the past two and a half years.

I should know, I'm her---[Here, he hesitates because the last thing he wants is a fight with one of his girlfriend's exes.]--friend.

[filming]

[Oh, Peyton does not like that hesitation before "friend"; this guy is lying somehow. But he likes this "two and a half years" and "different points in time" business even less. He closes his eyes for a second to try and regain his composure rather than shove this stranger for lying about being friends with Sharpay before opening them again.]

How old is she? [Because he wants to see her, of course he does, but if she doesn't even know who he is and her 'friend's going on about Zeke of all people...]

[He's not supposed to know the answer to this, but...] Twenty-one. Her birthday was a while back.

... Just don't tell her I knew that, okay?

[filming]

[Twenty-one minus two and a half... Eighteen and a half. He sighs.]

I probably won't be telling her much of anything; she hasn't met me yet.

But... is she okay? [His girl's wellbeing is more important than sulking over something neither of them can really help.] She screamed like it was the end of the world on her first step into my apartment building; I can't see her coping well with another world, at least at first.

Oh.

[Awkward. But that'd certainly explain why he'd never heard of the guy before now.]

You're right about that, she didn't cope well at first. [Wry smile.] ... But yeah, she's fine. I'm not sure how she got used to things here, but considering she teaches drama, I think she likes it well enough.

The hot pink whirlwind teaches! [Oh, he's grinning now.] That's almost more surprising than the different world thing.

[...at the same time, he's kind of proud of her.]

[Hot pink.... whirlwind?] Scary thing is, she's not half-bad.

That's terrifying. When and where's her class? I'd probably have to bring back video evidence for her to believe me.

All of her classes are after lunch. Monday, Wednesday, Friday is Drama... and Tuesday/Thursday is Art and Music Appreciation.

I could swing by her classroom with you now if you want.

Tempting. [He hesitates because he's not really sure what to do faced with this teacher Sharpay, so far from what he knows of her.]

[Oh hey there someone talking about one of her bestest friends? This is clearly something to be interested in!]

Sharpay?

[Rinoa leans over, dark eyes bright with curiosity.]

So you're from Earth then, right? Someone she knows back home?

[All the questions and none of the answers, way to miss the point Rinoa.]

[filming]

["Someone she knows"... pft.] I'm her boyfriend, actually. [No hard feelings in that statement! It's not like she's that open about it in the media.

[Plus, he gathers from the way this girl asks if he's from Earth that she's not.] Woooow, she has fans on other worlds too? Gotta ask her how she pulled that off.

No you're not, Tom's her boyfriend and she didn't have one back home.

[She will argue that point forever, sorry Peyton.]

A fan? [Now Rinoa plain looks bemused.] I don't mind watching her performances, but I'm not really a fan. I'm her best friend.

[No hard feelings in that statement either.]

[His eyes narrow as he stops recording. He's not going to disagree with Sharpay not having a boyfriend back in Albuquerque, but:] Who the hell is Tom, and how do you even know her?

[Because he's pretty sure she doesn't have a best friend, unless you count Boi, whom Peyton doesn't.]
