Morning, quad: Ice carving festival

Afternoon, first floor main circle: School fair

Night, ballroom: Art show and talent show

They're from my own little garden. I have some small soil boxes that I've been using to grow a patch.

I've been growing them since I was little. Nothing's ever been easier for me.

That's why I've been hoping to find your herbs, I hoped to make plenty.

Well, they aren't normally my style... but I'd be a madman not to encourage you. So perhaps my room could do with a little brightening.

[He digs up five gil out of his pocket with a broad smile.]

[He accepts it, admiring it for a moment, then adds almost as an afterthought...]

You'll be coming to my little party, of course?

Oh, of course. I'd love to.

Excellent, excellent! Of course you may bring a guest if you wish. Nothing formal, of course... unless you wish it to be. [He winks broadly.]

I...I might have someone in mind. He's just a little reluctant. How would I go about bribing someone?

Good food? Pleasant company? Possibly the chance to come to further gatherings, if he fits in well.

I'll give those a try. He's a hard one to please, but if I sell it enough!

I've no doubt you can persuade him. Perhaps a few bottles of oak-matured mead will be an incentive? Hardly the quality I'm used to, but beggar can't be choosers.

It could be. He might use a good drink.

Of course! I delight in these gatherings! I only wish I could invite some of my oldest friends. I had quite the following of old Hogwarts students in my day, you know. I daresay I was a favorite professor of many a student.

And the parties didn't help your popularity at all, did they?

[She grins slyly]

That and a long, storied career. Well over fifty years, you know! I had the honor of seeing sons and daughters and even grandchildren at times.

That must be really nice. I can only imagine the pictures you had.

Making our own memories here is a little more difficult. It's like patchwork, in a way. So many elements from many words, people who haven't known each other all that long.

[Slughorn sighs wistfully.]

Do you know... some days I think I never should have retired. The second time, of course -- the first time was lovely up until, well, the unpleasantness. But here, I mean.

How much do you think you missed?

Hard to say, but enough. Certainly I came back to a remarkable crop of students! Ah -- and colleagues, of course.

Then the time to start making memories is now. We can't change the past, but there's the future to look toward.

You're all ready for that with this party, right?

It'll be empty with a few people missing. But I trust they're doing well where they've gone.

[He may not want to admit it, but Slughorn isn't entirely mercenary. He'd had a soft spot for some of the vanished folk.]

So you'd better grab us before we disappear.

Ha! Well, I certainly intend to see as many people inducted as I want!
