Okay, very funny. Which one of you switched out my clothes? It looks like a unicorn threw up in my closet... no offense to any unicorns still on campus. As I'd prefer not to screw up my good eye by wearing orange you can see from space, I'd really like them back. Just leave them in front of my door, and I won't hunt you down.

[Well if that BBS post wasn't odd enough for Chase, it's even odder if you happen to run into the kid. First, there's the fact he's wearing his SeeD Uniform (mainly because "his" clothes hurt his eye). Second is the fact that he's wearing his hair long and well groomed for a Tuesday with no formal event or mission coming up. He's even showing a little scruff for a change. Finally, and probably the most glaring changes are the scars on his face, one beside his left eye, one cutting through his right, leaving him blind in that eye, and the fact his left sleeve is pinned to his elbow, revealing anything below said elbow is no longer there.

Chase seems oblivious to the changes and can be found at various parts of the campus:

• In the mystery section of the library, looking for something to read.


• In the cafeteria having lunch.


• In the quad reading whatever mystery he picked from the library.


• In the training area, using Grats for shooting practice.

Finally, a word of warning: Don't sneak up on him unless you want to get a gun pointed at you. He's now touchy like that.]

[Touma hasn't looked at the BBS yet today, so when he spots Chase in the cafeteria at lunchtime, he doubletakes. Hell, it's hard to believe this is even the same guy.

[He approaches him front-on, his usual overloaded tray (half of the food being for Gaomon) in his hands.]

Chase...?

[Chase looks up at his name being called and smiles.] Hey. No Gaomon today?

[Touma sets his tray down on the table so he can hold up his digivice for a moment, and Gaomon waves from the screen, before looking visibly startled by Chase's appearance.]

Eating is the worst time to be disturbed by xenophobes. [Eating is srs business.

[Eating is also an awkward time to bring up sensitive questions:] What... [He lets his gaze drift over the bad eye, the bad arm.] happened? [Why was his day off yesterday he clearly missed everything he should not have weekends.]

[Chase waves with his good hand, trying to pretend that his friends aren't suddenly looking at him so strangely. He was used to stares by now, even if he wasn't exactly fond of them, but he had thought that Touma and Gaomon had gotten past that... Clearly they hadn't.]

Some asshole stole my clothes while I was sleeping, can you believe it? You should see the hideous stuff they left me with.

[This is so not the point, but it is too hard to bring up delicately, so Touma is going to roll with it.] The... bright things you usually wear? I thought those plaid trousers were your pride and joy.

What are you talking about? I haven't worn plaid trousers since high scho-- [lightbulb.] You don't think time compression has anything to do with this? Like swapping out my clothes for when I was young and stupid?

... It could be time compression, but I'm not sure it took your clothes, considering you were wearing your 'young and stupid' clothes as recently as yesterday.

She approaches him, perhaps quietly because some areas of the library are carpeted, and also perhaps it's like approaching a gazelle in the wild. She doesn't want to scare it away in her curiosity.]

[ACTION: in the library!]

[Purposely or not, Grell was too quiet for his tastes, and he spins as she calls out his name, gun in hand and aimed at her head.]

...Sorry. [Glances around him before putting his gun away.]

[As usual, Grell is not bothered by the gun. She's actually grinning. Silly humans and their little weapons.]

I wasn't aware you carried such a thing~!

[But back to the matter at hand...]

I always carry it with me... I just don't usually draw it unless I have to.

[As this version of Chase has "always" been like this, he's a bit confused.] Nothing, I just didn't feel like reading a romance novel. Honestly, I can't remember why I read them at all... no offense.

Grell places a hand onto his forehead in disbelief.]

Because they're terrible! Did you at least finish the other one?

[As it happens, this particular dark-haired teenager making his way through the nearby foliage is searching for someone who's missing an arm, but it definitely isn't Chase.

He stops for a moment, but then just sighs irritably and begins to sneak on past, slowly and cautiously to minimise the rustling noises his footsteps are making. The guy looks unfamiliar, busy, and most importantly busy while holding a gun. If he finishes scouring the training centre and still can't find any clues, maybe he'll come back to ask, he thinks.]

Action, training area!

[Unfortunately for Ed, any sort of crouching and tiptoeing near him gets this particular Chase on edge, so he fires a warning shot by Ed, but far enough to not actually hit him.]

Who's there?

[rerebrace]

[Warning shot it may have been, but it was close enough and he's sufficiently on edge that he gets the wrong idea. Like hell he's going to stick his head out of the vegetation. In fact, his initial plan is to keep quiet as he ducks down - it's just that he's too annoyed about this to fully resist retorting.]

You missed. Go back to target practice.
