[Balamb Garden has taken off around the Balamb coastline! The seaside and clear night sky can be seen through the windows and from the balconies. The halls are mostly deserted besides the stray student walking about, and even the usual faculty members are missing from their posts around the school. There's a certain festive energy through the air, the source coming from the happily decorated ballroom located on the second floor.

[At exactly 2100, as soon as the dinner rush ends, the Garden chime sounds and the intercom clicks on. The Headmaster speaks to the Garden.]

The Homecoming Dance is now beginning. Your attendance is requested at [2F] Ballroom.

I repeat, the Homecoming Dance is now beginning. Your attendance is requested at [2F] Ballroom. The ball will run until 2400. Students leaving the ball after curfew are to return to their dorms immediately.

The ball and its festivities tonight are being sponsored very generously by the Garden Festival Committee.

[After the announcement, the intercom falls silent. The faint sound of music can be heard from the second floor of the building.

[Within the ballroom, there is a stationary stand for punch and food, as well as roaming caterers offering drinks (grape juice) and canapes.]

Voting is now closed. There is a thread here for announcing and crowning the winners; on-lookers are free to react in the thread.

Attendance is entirely optional, so with most of the faculty at the dance, characters are free to roam the rest of the school! However, as Balamb Garden is flying around the Balamb coastline, they will not be able to leave (unless you can fly or really like heights and don't mind injuries...), and any characters left behind will be stranded for a few hours.

[Snake nods.] "This is my first party like this," says Emily.

[Oscar was clearly too busy working the salmon down to actually care too much about the conversation at the moment.]

[Ronnae smiles.]

I've been to a few before, some here and some back in my world. Homecoming type parties are rather nice...

[At least here in this world... And not where there were snarky nobles looking to make a show of her.]

"I don't understand what homecoming is," says Oscar.

It's... like a welcome back for students of sorts. Hmm, while senior prom was the farewell to the seniors who graduated and it's a similar kind of party with similar events, homecoming is usually for all returning students and such. Or at least that's what I remember.

"So it's something for schools," says Oscar.

As far as I know, yeah.

[Snake seems to be considering it, quiet for a moment.]

"This is my first time at a school, there is no way someone like me could get into a school where I am from," says Emily.

Hm? Really? Why not? [She asked curiously before looking a bit embarrassed.]

I m-mean, if that's okay... I d-don't want to intrude or anything.

[Snake doesn't seem to mind at all.]

"I've been in a circus my whole life, so I don't really have any money, and really schools are only for people who have a lot of money. I wouldn't have had the time anyway," says Emily.

Oh, oh wow! Living in a circus must have been exciting though was it not?

There was one back home, well kind of. It was world famous and incredibly popular called the Darkmoon Faire. It had all sorts of really interesting attractions.

What did you do at the circus?

[Snake is quiet for a moment, listening to Oscar. He doesn't say anything, though he clearly has some bad memories of the circus.]

"Noah's Ark Circus was nice," says Oscar.

"I've always worked as a snake charmer," says Emily.

Oh... I guess that would make sense. [Ronnae felt a bit silly.]

I think you would have liked the Darkmoon Faire. It was pretty eccentric but everyone was so enthusiastic and energetic. The crowds loved them.

"It sounds like fun," says Emily!

It was!

Sometimes when there's festivities here it makes me miss the ones from back home. But I suppose it's not too bad since I'm sure I'll be able to return someday.

"We can do another show sometime too," says Emily.

That would be really neat! I'd definitely like to see it someday.

'We didn't have fun with it until we joined Noah's Ark Circus,' is what Oscar says.

So it wasn't before that? [She asked curiously.]

[He shakes his head] "It is not fun to be forced to do something," says Oscar.

I... Y-yeah, I know this all too well...

[Well this conversation certainly took a dive. Ronnae looked down and rubbed her arm awkwardly.]

"But it can be a lot of fun when you do it because you want to!" Says Emily!

Well y-yeah, it should be fun if you really want it to be. Just... not so much forced.

"But it isn't forced here," says Oscar.

And hopefully it'll stay that way. [Ronnae didn't know what else to say considering she felt that maybe she had brought up something bad from their past.]

"... We don't have to be just servants here, at least," says Oscar. [Snake is trying to cheer her up. It was something that made him sad, but he was also used to it, so it didn't bother him too much to touch upon so lightly.]
