Fourth wall mingle post

[For the regular denizens of Balamb Garden, it's an ordinary day...until more off-worlders start showing up, for only a few hours at a time. Unsure what to make of these more temporary visitors, the Garden faculty is holding off on registering them as cadets or offering them jobs.

[Maybe someone you know might turn up?]

Mod note, to reiterate:

4th wall characters can only be seen at certain hours of the day. They may appear for two hours a day, or four... or seen only in the early morning... the time doesn't matter to us, but they're not permanently here. They may return to Garden again through the rest of the month, but they're not around 24/7.

Like apped characters, 4th wall characters can't be ridiculously-sized. Transformers, Gundams, and similar concepts/characters will become human-sized (and in the case of mechas, not allowed altogether.)

Players (like you and me) are not allowed to visit Garden. We're breaking the 4th wall, not destroying it altogether!

Apart from this post, 4th wall characters are free to reply to open posts in witchesreign or open logs in concoursec. Apped players have the option of closing their posts to in-game characters only.

All BBS posts are locked to in-game characters only. 4th wall characters do not have access to any sort of logged in posts unless they hijack someone else's log-in---and in those cases, we need to know this beforehand.

For those unfamiliar with the setting, here is more info on Balamb Garden's facilities and layout. Additionally, some of the NPCs around and some player characters may be wearing Balamb Garden's cadet or SeeD uniform.

[Unfortunately, there's nothing remotely usable in his pockets - just a notepad, a little pencil stub and his D-Arc, none of which he intends to smash into anything.] I don't think I've got any, uh, souls. Can I borrow one?

Sure! [He hands one over, and is about to sit down on the floor before he remembers--] Hey, should we find your dinosaur first? We could teach him how to play too!

[Shuto sees nothing wrong with that sentence.]

[Takato briefly entertains the mental image of Guilmon and his distinct lack of fingers attempting to play any game that involves tiny pins.] M-Maybe that's not such a good idea... But it's okay, we can play one round and then go find him. I don't think he can get any more lost.

[dundundaaah]

Okay!

[He plops down on the floor, placing a pin in front of him.]

The basic aim of Tin Pin is to slam all of the other guy's pins out of the playing area! You move them around like this:

[Shuto stares at the pin, and it slides forward without him touching it.

[I dunno, man. I feel like any idiot could do this in TWEWY but maybe everyone in TWEWY is just slightly psychic. But considering gogglehead drew his digimon partner to life, his miracle attracting qualities could probably work for Tin Pin telekinesis.]

[Oh man, that pin just moved by itself! Takato is not at all sure he likes this game.]

Um, okay, I'll try.

[Imitating Shuto, he puts the pin on the floor and stares at it. When nothing happens, he tries looking at it with puppy eyes, glaring at it, pulling a face at it...]

...Sorry. Maybe I should stick with Digimon.

[[OOC: I always got the impression that everyone in TWEWY was a bit psychic (otherwise the Game would be even more unfair) and everything not obviously sci-fi in Tamers was the Digignomes' fault? But then I also got the impression that the Kaiser didn't go on Shuto's arm >.>]]

[He stands, scooping up his own pin and offering Takato a hand up.] What's Digimon?

(OOC: I don't even know. I play pretty fast and loose with Tin Pin because the game itself never really goes into it; last time I played Shuto in panfandom he managed to teach Roxas how to play but I'm pretty much completely blind on KH. As for the Kaiser, the Solid Slammer item's categorized as an accessory and the description says to strap it on. I don't really see it on his leg \(o_O)/ Oh TWEWY, so vague.)

[Woo, an opportunity for him to gush about something he likes!] You've never heard of Digimon? It's a really popular game! But maybe not so much in other worlds, I guess. There's a card game, there's virtual pets, there's a TV show - all kinds of stuff. You know the dinosaur I'm trying to find? He's a Digimon, too! I created him!

Wow, I should have heard of it if it's that popular [in that many different formats, he really means]! But everyone's all about Tin Pin.

But it sounds really cool! Especially if you made one!

[Cue a certain dinosaur rocketing out of... somewhere and tackling him to the ground.] I found you, I found you~!

Shouldn't I be the one saying that? Uh, yeah, this is Guilmon. Guilmon, this is... someone whose name I don't know, but he's pretty nice.

I'm Shuto Dan, but you can call me the Red Spirit! [Gogglehead and dinosaur, you are now kindred spirits.]

A real digimon... [Not that he even has a good handle on what digimon are. He probably thinks they're all dinosaurs.] You're awesome, Guilmon!

Spirit? So... not the same thing as a "soul"? [He doesn't look like a pin. A pinhead would be - well, no, he seems like an okay guy.] A-Anyway, I guess I didn't tell you my name either. I'm Takato, Matsuda Takato!

Nah, we're Kindred Spirits, not pins! [Shuto offers Guilmon a hand for a high-five.]

People united in... [Well, no, everyone at home has their pins back.] Being confused by finding themselves here!

We're not just united in our bodies, we're united in here! [Shuto thumps his own chest. Unfortunately, on the opposite side to his heart.]

Not literally, though... right? I mean - I mean, you're cool! But I already have a partner, and he's Guilmon. I don't think matrix evolution would work with two people, anyway.

Nah, it's not a partner thing; I have a whole group of Kindred Spirits at home! You two can still be partners. What's matrix evolution?

Oh yeah, you've never heard of Digimon. Okay, well, matrix evolution is a special kind of evolution where you don't need to jogress or play any plugins first! [And that is a really terrible explanation for someone who isn't already a fan, he realises.] It's - it's kind of like growing up for Digimon, you know? Except they turn back afterwards... although sometimes they don't turn back. Actually, a lot of the time they don't turn back. And it's quicker than growing up too, I guess. Uh.

I know, we'll show you! Ready, Guilmon?

Huh? [He was in the middle of inspecting (read: sniffing) the weird red thing Shuto is wearing and ignoring everything else.]

Aw, weren't you listening? We're going to show Dan-kun what our Ultimate evolution looks like! Let's go!

[Takato holds up his D-Arc dramatically. It completely fails to light up, take his clothes off or respond in any way whatsoever. After about ten seconds of nothing, he feels embarrassed enough to put it back in his pocket.]

...Or not. [Poor kid isn't doing very well today.]

[dundundaaah]

[Shuto gives him a blank stare at the jogress and plugins nonsense, but perks up at the prospect of being shown something cool...

[And then nothing happens.]

... What was supposed to happen?

Well, the screen is supposed to light up first... and then me and Guilmon evolve into Dukemon. Why doesn't it work here, though? [It's like this world doesn't want him to look cool!

Guilmon, who senses his attention is no longer required, goes back to harassing Shuto's Kaiser. He pokes at it with a claw.]

[dundundaaah]

[Shuto shrugs sympathetically, and then when Guilmon pokes his Kaiser, he grins.]

Hey, wanna try it on? [He starts undoing the straps.]

[tiptoetotomorrow]

Sure~! What does it do?

[dundundaaah]

[He straps it onto Guilmon's arm.] You can use it to launch pins for Tin Pin instead of just having them start on your playing field!

Psst... Takato, what's Tin Pin?

Um, just go with it.

Okay.

[It's a tight fit, but it does look cool. It even matches Guilmon's colour scheme! He pokes at it with his other claw a couple of times, then laughs and starts waving it around like a kid with a new toy aeroplane.] Look, it's an Ark~!
