Fourth wall mingle post

[For the regular denizens of Balamb Garden, it's an ordinary day...until more off-worlders start showing up, for only a few hours at a time. Unsure what to make of these more temporary visitors, the Garden faculty is holding off on registering them as cadets or offering them jobs.

[Maybe someone you know might turn up?]

Mod note, to reiterate:

4th wall characters can only be seen at certain hours of the day. They may appear for two hours a day, or four... or seen only in the early morning... the time doesn't matter to us, but they're not permanently here. They may return to Garden again through the rest of the month, but they're not around 24/7.

Like apped characters, 4th wall characters can't be ridiculously-sized. Transformers, Gundams, and similar concepts/characters will become human-sized (and in the case of mechas, not allowed altogether.)

Players (like you and me) are not allowed to visit Garden. We're breaking the 4th wall, not destroying it altogether!

Apart from this post, 4th wall characters are free to reply to open posts in witchesreign or open logs in concoursec. Apped players have the option of closing their posts to in-game characters only.

All BBS posts are locked to in-game characters only. 4th wall characters do not have access to any sort of logged in posts unless they hijack someone else's log-in---and in those cases, we need to know this beforehand.

For those unfamiliar with the setting, here is more info on Balamb Garden's facilities and layout. Additionally, some of the NPCs around and some player characters may be wearing Balamb Garden's cadet or SeeD uniform.

[Stare. How can nobody learn alchemy? It just seems so natural to him, and to Amestris. It's hard to imagine a place without alchemy.] Not even that Alkahestry that May was using from Xing? And no, I'm not an imposter. [He pulls out his pocketwatch as proof.]

What woman? Father is the one who made the homunculi. There was Envy, Lust, Pride - the Fuhrer's adopted kid, Selim, Wrath - the Fuhrer, Gluttony, Sloth - that big thing that was digging when we were up North at Briggs, and Greed, though there were kind of two of him after they used Ling to bring him back. Those bastards are trying to turn Amestris into a Philosopher's Stone. I never heard anything about this 'Dante'.

Well, I never heard anything about any of that! [Sloth was a "big thing"? Even though he knows better, he can't help but feel a little offended on her behalf...] What were you doing underground if she didn't already take Al there? ...Please tell me you know who Al is.

I told you, I was underground trying to find Father to stop him. And of course I know who my own brother is! Once this Promised Day is over maybe then I can work out a way to get his body back.

His body... Yeah, good luck with that. If you wind up here again and can't just disappear [like he's spotted a few of the other newcomers doing], I'll write you a reference. How is he, anyway? [Hearing that some freaky counterpart of his brother is alive and well would be marginally better than the load of nothing he currently knows, after all.]

He's fine. We're separated for now though. But Ling said there was definitely a chance for us to get our bodies back. What about back home for you?

Separated... is close enough. [But if he can't be honest about this with himself, who else is there? He looks away.] I mean, he - he might not be dead. But he'll be fine as soon as I find a way out of this dump! I'll make sure of it!

He's an idiot! He shouldn't have done it! All the times I told him everything was just a stepping stone to getting his body back - it's like he never even heard me!! [Yeah, he's been bottling this up for a little while.]

What are you talking about? What'd Al do? [He's from before Al's reckless reversal of the transmutation Ed had done to bind his soul to the armor in exchange for his right arm.]

He... transmuted himself. For me. It's my fault. That's why - that's the only reason I need to go home. To pay him back.

[He feels slightly self-conscious now. Well, more than he already was from talking to himself.]

But none of that matters to you, right? And you're taller. Good for you.

He--what? No...how do you mean he transmuted himself? [As in, what, trying to sacrifice himself to get Ed's limbs back or something? Ed would admit to considering his left arm or something if it meant getting Al back but this--this sounded much more reckless and worse.]

How should I know? I couldn't exactly see. [Due to being dead and/or an English kid at the time. It was a rough day.] But it was stupid no matter how he did it!

Yeah, and it wasn't even close to equal value. That's what annoys me. Well, it's one of the things that annoy me.

I tried to do it the other way around and only ended up here instead of... wherever the hell he went. Call it a guess or a logical conclusion or whatever you want.

[To tell the truth, dwelling on this stuff is sort of giving him the urge to pick a fight with this newcomer, since it's not something he'll get to do very often. It's like when he finally fulfilled his dream of punching Mustang in the face. ...But there's not really a tactful way to ask that kind of thing.]

Uh, sorry about walking into you just then, I guess. Didn't see you there. [Or rather he did, and then promptly forgot how to walk.]

Hm. Well, I guess there doesn't seem to be anything we can do from here besides maybe research their equivalent in terms of ways to get Al back to normal. [Yup, he has no idea what is going on but from what he can figure, there must be a library and it can't hurt at least checking out.]

What do you think I've been trying to do for the past couple of weeks? The library here's useless, and the instructors only get in the way. I think I figured out how to get back in theory, it's just actually doing it... maybe if I had a Philosopher's Stone like Al, but like hell I'd use those things. Even if there were any around here.
