Fourth wall mingle post

[For the regular denizens of Balamb Garden, it's an ordinary day...until more off-worlders start showing up, for only a few hours at a time. Unsure what to make of these more temporary visitors, the Garden faculty is holding off on registering them as cadets or offering them jobs.

[Maybe someone you know might turn up?]

Mod note, to reiterate:
4th wall characters can only be seen at certain hours of the day. They may appear for two hours a day, or four... or seen only in the early morning... the time doesn't matter to us, but they're not permanently here. They may return to Garden again through the rest of the month, but they're not around 24/7.
Like apped characters, 4th wall characters can't be ridiculously-sized. Transformers, Gundams, and similar concepts/characters will become human-sized (and in the case of mechas, not allowed altogether.)
Players (like you and me) are not allowed to visit Garden. We're breaking the 4th wall, not destroying it altogether!
Apart from this post, 4th wall characters are free to reply to open posts in witchesreign or open logs in concoursec. Apped players have the option of closing their posts to in-game characters only.
All BBS posts are locked to in-game characters only. 4th wall characters do not have access to any sort of logged in posts unless they hijack someone else's log-in---and in those cases, we need to know this beforehand.

For those unfamiliar with the setting, here is more info on Balamb Garden's facilities and layout. Additionally, some of the NPCs around and some player characters may be wearing Balamb Garden's cadet or SeeD uniform.

[And here we have what looks to be an entirely troll version of John Egbert + 5 years. He's dressed straight out of final fantasy 7 (which ironically is where he is actually from!) Yes this is a John from a universe where the Homestuck kids and trolls are apart of the terrorist organization known as SCRATCH bent on taking down the evil corporation Shinra and the evil batterwitch who runs it. ]

[To recap: John is a troll (the result of bad mako poisoning), he's 18, and he's kind of an overzealous revolutionary who blows things up!! Come say hello because he is looking mighty apprehensive.]

[Well a troll John isn't something new. There had been one here not too long ago. This one, however, was older and wearing some rather funny clothing.

But a John was a John, and he must be new so she walked up to him.

Hey John. Check it out, Nepeta is even more wee and actually looks...more human? She isn't sporting furry ears, elbows, and her eyes are a little more normal. No whiskers or other catlike features, expect for the tail. She's dressed in her Cadet uniform too.]

John?

[That voice is still familiar though and briefly his ears flick up and he turns around.]

[and he stares at little bit. Because something is obviously not right here.]

Nep...eta?

[That was a rather strange reaction. Hey! If this John was a troll, then did that mean that maybe she was human where he came from?]

That's right! Though purrobably not the Nepeta you know. [In fact pretty much definitely not the Nepeta he knows.]

[Yeah, okay sure. He still looks confused but...]

I guess not? I mean- I didn't realize there was more than one Nepeta?

Think alternate universes. Like in those sci fi movies and stuff! Beclaws the John I know is much younger and not a troll. [Also not part of an insurgent group trying to usurp the batterwitch]

[...oh, it seems that troll John is back. and it seems that he's had quite some adventures in his world, if the jump in age is anything to go by. she wonders if he remembers anything.

Rose stops in front of him, quirking an eyebrow good-naturedly]

I can't imagine that the undue amount of belt buckles serves any practical purpose beyond getting caught on the shirts of everyone you come into contact with. Dare I ask what shenanigans you've been up to?

[And that stops him dead in his tracks. Because -holy shit, that. That looks like Rose and Rose is not someone he's seen in ages. Granted, she was still a part of his team, though very subtle with her incognito up top job so his contact with her was minimal at best.]

[Wow, she looked young.]

...Rose?

[call her young out loud and she isn't responsible if one of her needles 'accidentally' finds its way into your eye, boy.

aaaaand judging by that reaction he's probably not the same as the troll John here before. lovely.]

Present and accounted for. I can only assume that there's yet again a disconnect between my current appearance and the one you're used to seeing, although I do hope that this time it isn't because I'm lacking yellow eyes and horns.

[That takes him a few seconds and -while he's not sure what's up here- he's sure this is not the Rose he's looking for. Which makes him relieved and confused.]

What? Oh hell no! Man, I would throw such a fit if you somehow got mako poisoned. But- yeah you are definitely a lot younger than the Rose I know...?

[she gives him a flat look that ought to warn him away from saying anything further about her age. GO ON AND IMPLY SHE'S NOT CAPABLE, JOHN. JUST TRY IT.]

And you seem to be treating a separate species as the result of some sort of ailment. Good to know that not only are we on different chapters, but we've checked out completely divergent books.

[Which doesn't surprise him over much, really. Rose is a Rose is a Rose five years apart notwithstanding.]

Well, sure, I guess trolls can be considered their own species, but almost all of them were born human? It's the radiation from mako that causes the mutation. Anyone saying otherwise is just Shinra covering its own ass.

And here we see another significant alteration in our universes. When I called the trolls a separate species I was being quite literal - they have their own planet and culture completely detached from humankind. [her expression becomes thoughtful now]

Although I won't deny that the idea of troll characteristic emerging from prolonged exposure to a mutagenic agent is fascinating. If I were more scientifically inclined I'd be tempted to investigate, but as it is I'll simply ruminate on the philosophical consequences.

Oh. So ...trolls are space aliens then. Okay. [This multi-universe thing still kind of hurts his head but he also talked to another nepeta earlier so sure why not.]

Fascinating? Sure, I guess, but its also kind of awful. People who end up trolls are basically the lucky ones that didn't outright die or become monsters. [Scratches lightly under his horn and frowns.]

Basically the worst three weeks ever.

I can imagine. [dryly] It seems that no matter what the intricate details of our universes are, their penchant for compacted misery remains the same.

Oh, sucks to know that its a universal constant. What's going on in your world, Rose?

Nothing particularly interesting. Our planet was destroyed in a predestined cataclysm that transported us to another reality where we were supposed to create a new universe. Unfortunately our session was irreparably broken from the beginning and so unless we perform some serious maneuvering by the end of the day we'll all be dead.

Yep, sounds about right. [Small sigh.] Man we really can't catch a break, can we.

I'm starting to suspect that it's something wired into the basic blueprints of our DNA. [she gives him a humorless smile]

I'd like to keep the vain hope that in some universe, somewhere, there's a John and Rose and everyone else on my team and yours that are living happy, non-world shattering lives.

So what's this place all about, anyway.

Oh, I'd certainly hope not. I don't think that I could contain the all-encompassing jealousy if that were true. [she chuckles a little]

The Garden? It's a military academy which produces mercenaries for this world. Some rather unsavory individuals have been sticking their hands into the fabric of time and space, which is the reason we've all been unceremoniously drawn here.

Military Academy? [Frowns. That doesn't give him the best of feelings but...]

Does Shinra mean anything to you or maybe this world? Or Her Imperious?

Neither strikes a bell with me personally, although I can't say that the same will apply to every person present on campus. It's a fairly large facility, after all.

No, if it was relevant here, everyone would know. [That does make him look more relaxed though.]

But that's definitely a good thing. How are the politics? [These are important questions. He's already inciting one rebellion back home, he doesn't need another one okay.]

Relatively stable, although there are very few people outside of the Garden who take kindly to us 'off-worlders' wandering about here. [she frowns a little]

I get the feeling that they seem to think we ought to be able to send ourselves back home and are hanging around on purpose.
