[ Merlin's information on the BBS was helpful enough to get her started on making a post, but for the most part Gwen is still struggling. Sure, the keys and characters are much more legible than script, but finding the right one in the rows took her quite some time. After writing it up she longed for quill and parchment. ]

Hello Garden Dwellers,

I am having an issue with my standard Garden cadet uniform. I am not at all fond of the cut and location of the hem.

[ Translation: her medieval sensibilities make showing her legs not an option! ]

I am, however, quite adept at sewing. If anyone knows where I might obtain fabric, needle, thread and perhaps some beading I would be in your debt. If anyone is interested in a dress or anything else please do not hesitate to let me know.

I have not ventured out of the Garden myself yet. I've been told there's a need to go in groups in case you encounter fiends. What is the name of this town?

That would be wonderful! I'm not sure what I could offer in return. Perhaps if the market has something of interest to you other than fabric.

[Merlin spots Gwen using the bbs, and comes over to her, grinning] Gwen! See, I knew you could figure it out.

[He leans over to try and see what she's written] Planning to make a new uniform?

[ She's mid-typing when he comes over. Well, more like pecking slowly at the keys with one finger on each hand. She turns to him and smiles. ]

Merlin! Yes, it's really been...slow-moving but I think I'm getting the hang of it. Sort of. If not the uniform then perhaps just make another dress or two.

Someone mentioned going into town to find what I need.

[ Gwen bites her lip for a moment, before pulling an envelope from her apron pocket. ]

Merlin, could you do another favor for me?

It's weird, but you get used to it after a while. [Merlin squints at all that green typing] Why do they keep writing threes all the time? [And don't feel bad Gwen - Merlin types in much the same way]

If you're on good terms with the professor, it should be fine :) and if you return the stuff, obviously.

Instructor Frixell's good about these kinds of things, so I'd ask her more for clothing-related advice. I'm no good with a needle myself.

Are you planning on altering your uniform? Uniforms are designed the way they are for specific reasons.

I suppose I will have to get used to the uniform, but my goal was to create new garments. I am not comfortable in it.

Do you think modifying it would be discouraged?

It usually is. Uniforms are meant as uniting forces, as such they should not be personalized.

I'm fairly new here and haven't been able to obtain any cards for the game that seems to be so popular around the Garden. If you have any for a starter deck I would appreciate it.

A simple one that I can wear out would be nice. Perhaps a green? And I'd like it if the hem wasn't too long. Oh, and I need it to have an open back.

Would that really be all you want for a dress? I don't have any of those cards, but I'll certainly try to find some if it's enough.

I wouldn't alter the hem of your uniform's skirt unless you plan on being only support during battle. This is, after all, a military academy, and we can be sent out at any time once we graduate.

Personal clothing should be okay, though.

Perhaps I should ask an instructor what the best solution would be for my problem then.

That would probably be best. I'm only a student, after all, and I don't really know much about sewing.

You don't need to wear your uniform to classes, just for events where you need to be identifiable as Garden cadets, like the field exam. I'd love a new dress! Brilliant, what sort of color and style would you like? I am familiar with a different style than whats common here, though I'm sure I could find information on tailoring should you have something specific in mind.

Yes, in Camelot I spent a lot of my time working with a seamstress before I became a castle servant. I always find it relaxing.

That would be wonderful if you aren't too busy. I've had a few dress requests and some extra help would make it go much faster. It's just me in my dorm so I have plenty of space.
