What makes someone a good leader? Is it caring about the people they're in charge of? Or is it more making sure they can all get out of an impossible situation alive? During those times do numbers count, or is any single loss an unacceptable failure?

And when it comes down to it, how do you know if you're a good leader until something directly happens?

I've always considered my Pops the best leader there ever was, but he was the strongest man in the world on top of caring about all of us. So I guess he had both qualifications covered.

Just curious as to thoughts on it, if you will.

I think that's it. He used to have a lot of IV tubes, but he didn't want anyone to see him like that so don't draw them.

He'd have adored you, eh. He always said any son of the sea could be a song of his.

What does that mean?

He felt most people who become pirates don't always do it just for get rich quick schemes, even though a lot do. All he ever wanted himself was a family, so he treated all of us like family so that no matter what, we'd have someone who cared about us, a home we could come back to and a father who'd love us even if we messed up now and again. That's why I think he's such a great leader, eh.

[There's silence, as Tobias just puts his head on Marco's chest. That... sounds wonderful to him, really, and he would've loved to have that...

His voice is quiet.]

[A small hug.]

Yeah, Toby?

[He nods without any hesitation.]

Then absolutely, eh. You can be my son.

[Happily tugs him close in a one-armed hug.]

[And.... yep, there goes probably the brightest smile Marco's seen yet, as Tobias gladly clings to him as tightly as he can.]
