Ugh. How do you people stand this place? It is just absolutely disgusting inside out, no one seems to take any kind of manners about this place and no one seems to believe you if you tell them you deserve some form of respect. I was AM still a princess, the next in line to become ruler of the Yellow Country and yet no one around here believes a word of it! I do not appreciate being talked down to as if I am some kind of child who has not a clue as to how the world works, I have studied and I have seen things that many have not seem. I am a capable ruler and am a capable member of the royal family, I do not appreciate being treated in any different manner!

And this... this gallivanting about the place is absolutely ridiculous and uncalled for, if one is here to learn, then they should do everything in their ability to get out of here as soon as possible with all the information necessary. Instead people are leeching off the system like common beggars and making the rest of us seem just as bad. Disgusting. Absolutely and undeniably disgusting.

Except you aren't a visiting diplomat. The natives don't want you here, and they'd sooner spit on your face than give you respect. Better get used to working, because you're officially on the same level as any other Cadet.

Also, I think I will call you a commoner. Because that is what you are in this world. You're not going to get the comforts you had as royalty. You'll be packed into a room with a roommate, go to classes, learn how to be a mercenary, and eat cafeteria food. Your clothes will be whatever you can afford or what is given or made for you, and it probably won't be high-end because of our salary. Heck, the store owners from the high-end places probably won't let you through the door.

Then I hope you're ready to beg when the sponsorship you currently have drops you. Because work in this world? Requires you to have an address that can be verified, contacts that can be verified--and are probably not offworlders like us. You will probably need a work history. Oh, and there are no monarchies here, that I know of. The edges of the map are completely filled in, too, so it's not like you can make things up. You may be able to act like a "normal" person, but you hardly speak like them or know their history or know even the things people know day-to-day around here.

So you can either work here, taking up the generous offer of sponsorship while you earn your keep and sweat like the rest of us, or you're on the streets where people would rather kick you and spit at you than give you even a kind word. Because, you see, here? People are evaluated by being an offworlder or native first, then their skillsets. Very rarely does status seem to effect things.

So go on, leave. Keep that attitude. And enjoy being a homeless little girl on the streets, with nowhere to go and no one to turn to.

P.S. For the record? I'm most likely younger than you are. :)

First of all, you get respect by giving respect here. And you have talked down to people from the start, complaining that you don't have to listen to those who are far more trained than your pampering allows you to be. These would be your teachers, like myself. And nice try to recover, but I have an excellent memory. Was it not you who has stated, time and again, you refuse to earn your keep? That you won't give up a single thing? That you can blend when, in fact, you are proving right here that you cannot?

As for my age, you're the one who keeps saying you won't listen to those older than you. So I simply pointed out that I am far younger than you to make a point. That being: you will refuse to listen to anyone who isn't treating you like you're some gift from the gods, regardless of their age or rank or skills.

And you may say my attempts are pathetic, but here you are, backpedaling in an attempt to seem in control. It's almost cute. I don't care how many times you've almost died--so have many others. Some do it on a monthly or even daily basis. We are mercenaries, and we risk everything for our own profit. Hacking into databases, assassinations, nitty gritty work that a dainty little flower like you wouldn't be able to stand. We're all trained in combat in case a mission, even a non-combative one, goes wrong. I would think a princess who apparently thinks she knows how the world works would understand that much, but it seems you do, in fact, not. How sheltered you must truly be!

Then I hope you're quite ready to be on the streets, on your own, and with even less respect than I am offering you. You see, I am actually giving you quite a bit of it. I am being honest. I'm not coddling you or sugar-coating the truth to protect you. It's probably the greatest courtesy you've gotten in your pampered and sheltered life.

You don't always get the luxury of going with someone. Often, you may end up on a small enough mission to go alone, because that's all that can be afforded. A single mercenary. So then, you'd be on your own. And if you're not trained in combat, then you're pretty much dead if things go wrong. Or worse--you're captured and tortured for weeks on end.

But go on. Keep trying to act like you know what it's like to come down from your ivory tower and deal with people. Keep saying I'm rude when I have offered you the single greatest asset you can have here: brutal honesty.

It's quite amusing that you still think yourself better than anyone when you are, in fact, acting like a big, spoiled brat throwing a tantrum because she might break a nail or get dust on her dress.

I assume only what you have given me. And really, princess, the fact that you take such offense tells me it's true.

Yes, you're distressed and under duress. But I've found that people show their true colors then--who they really are. As I've said, your situation is exactly the same as mine was when I first arrived. As it is for everyone else when they first arrive. You're not better or worse than anyone, not that you seem to think so. But go on. Run away.

It's probably all you'll ever be good for.

That's better.

In this world, Princess, you won't be given the luxury of backing down by running away often. It could easily cost you your life. There is tactical retreat, and there is running because you feel personally insulted. If you want to make it here, you're going to have to learn to separate your emotions from a situation and use strictly logic.

Let me rephrase: as an offworlder, you will have less opportunity to practice a tactical retreat in many of those situations. Retreat should not be anywhere near the top of your list. You'll learn other tactics as you take classes, but I do have one big tip for you: deflect instead of defend. It is better that it roll off your back like water than for you to get emotionally worked up. That is how mistakes are made.

Anyway, do you need help deciding which classes to take or aid in deciding on a major?

Exactly.

I would definitely consider a psychology course, and pay great attention to the history and culture courses. No matter what major, you'll need them.

Combat courses are mandatory. I suggest, over break, you test out weapons offered and find the one most suited to both your body type and strengths.

Bladed weapons, projectiles and firearms, blunt weapons and martial arts are the options.

Depends on the gun. A small handgun, not so much. Something larger will have you facing recoil.
