Round Seven | BBS + Action

Did everyone have a good time in Dollet? I know I certainly did ;) The beaches were fantastic! Was there anything that we should've avoided? Or was there anywhere that I should've gone? It wasn't my first time in Dollet, but the place seems different every time.

Also, I wanted to let you guys know that I'll be offering extra Math tutoring this Quarter, just in case anyone needs it (and trust me, some of you actually will. This isn't me being mean so much as me remembering Cadet days). I'm Instructor Tom Bronson, by the way; I teach Boxing and Stats most of the time.

[For some reason, Tom looks... happier than he does, and that's saying something considering he's practically overflowing with excitement. It's obvious from the get-go: the guy's happy just reading the syllabus this week in both BOX 101 and STAT 101.

He's even thrilled while grabbing breakfast, lunch, or dinner in the cafeteria - and he's practically skipping as he passes through the Quad on his way to classes. He'll probably spill the beans if someone asks, but his happiness is certainly contagious.]

[Huh. Someone seems awfully happy about something, thus Luna is quick to try and follow after him to see what he's just so happy about. She's nothing if curious, head tilted a bit once she manages to get up to his side.]

We feel as if We missed something, why would you be so happy this particular morning? We hadn't noticed anything out of the ordinary or spectacular.

[Tom can't help grinning at Luna.] It's not what happened today; it's what happened over the break. Let's just say, my girlfriend and I got some quality time together...

[Give her a moment, it's going to take her a little bit of time to actually comprehend what he means. You know, innocent world that doesn't talk about these things and all. But once she thinks she understands she pauses mid-stride, staring at him.]

Oh. Oh. Well, it certainly is good that you get to spend some time with her, even it may not sound... very savory to the rest of us. Love is love and all that. [Even if that concept is still something she's relearning, hah.]

[At least he has the decency to look sheepish. Tom laughs nervously as he scratches his cheek.]

Well, I mean... it's not exactly like that. [Yes, yes it is exactly like what Luna thinks.] We've just been so busy during the school year that it's hard to find time to go on dates and stuff, you know?

[The thing about having roomed with Tom? Touma knows that look. So he's not even going to draw attention to it beyond an amused smile as he loads up his tray with enough food for his dinner and Gaomon's.

[Basically, Touma's just waiting to see how long until Tom cracks and tells him of his own volition. He can feel it; it's going to happen.]

Another month, another quarter. How are your new boxing classes?

[Dangit Touma! Tom's going to hold onto this feeling as long as he can.]

First day went pretty well, actually. [He grins, piling up food on his own tray.] No one cried and no one threw up, so I'd call that a plus.

How're things in the infirmary?

[How did you even make someone throw up on the first day?! And more importantly, does Touma really want to know?

Quieter than it has been, but the Intermediate Weapons classes don't start experimenting till later in the week. [Injuries from weapon newbies. Bring them to him.]

I saw your BBS post about offering extra tutoring. It's a good idea; I'm half-considering tutoring for LAN 101 if I don't get any around the clock cases this quarter.

[Some kids get so grossed out at the thought of fighting that they throw up :( Tom's not sure how these wussies get into his class either.]

It is only the start of the Quarter. Give it a week or so, and I'm sure Razem'll be in there again.

Yeah? That'd probably be a good idea. I know I was grateful when you helped me last time.

[Cid manages to catch Tom at lunch in the cafeteria, and he just slides into the chair across from him after setting his tray down. For a moment, he says nothing, merely sitting in silence. His lips do curve into a slight smile, however, and after quietly taking and swallowing his first bite, he fully turns his attention on his friend.]

Go on then. I can tell you're itching to share.

[Well, why wouldn't he tell his best friend? Tom leans in to speak very, very quietly:]

Let's just say I'm pretty sure Shar and I'll be dating for a while now. [He doesn't want to be more blunt than that, because what is decency, but at the same time, he's so thrilled about it.]

[His smile broadens, and he chuckles quietly.]

That good, hm?

[Cid goes quiet again and takes another bite, drawing out the silence for a moment. He does, however, eventually set his fork and knife down.]

I'm happy for the both of you.

[Of course, that statement applies for the relationship as a whole--not just the bedroom part.]

[Still looking kind of sheepish, he gulps down the rest of his lemonade. It's weird telling Cid about these things when he's actually in a serious relationship, versus him bragging about various friends-with-benefits...

Is this what being committed to someone feels like? 'Cause it's kind of nice.]

I kind of got something pretty awesome over break from my girlfriend. It's like... one of those early video games. Kinda old-fashioned but pretty good too. [Admittedly, he DID buy a video game over break, but that's not the real reason.]

[Grell just looks at Tom as she sips her orange juice while the instructor is getting his food in the cafeteria. That's rather odd, even for him.]

[Okay, so maybe looking this happy wasn't the best plan Tom had... but he can't help it!]

I did? [Nervous laugh.] I guess I'm still on the warm weather kick we got in Dollet.

It was alright. Thanks for clearing that for me, was one of the only non-boring things I've done lately. Yeah, Cissie came with me. You know how it is. Archers have to stick together and that sort of thing.

[He might be overjoyed, but it's Rinoa's first time as an actual teacher during actual class hours where students earn actual credits, so she's stressing already. Which is probably why even at dinner she's pouring over a ton of papers and other things, trying to figure out just what on earth she's doing.]

[Tom come rescue her, before something scary happens... like she turns into Squall.]

[Oh goodness. Tom remembers how his first day went... and while he personally wasn't stressed, he certainly remembers how his friends felt. He immediately takes a seat across from her and stares intently at the piles of papers before him.]

So, Instructor Heartilly... is your next class going to discuss how a paperwork monster ate your brain?

[Looking up, his comment startles a laugh out of Rinoa, before she slowly sets her pen down.]

At the rate I'm going? Probably.
