Have a thing you'd like! [Action, the lobby]

[Snow had been lying low for a while, quite unlike the congenial martial arts instructor. If you know enough, 'why' is an easy question to answer.]

[But he'd let himself do that for too long. So during lunch he'd hared off to Balamb Town, hit a couple of shops, and come back...]

[Now Snow's hanging out by the directory in the lobby, leaning against as he watches people go by. To those people, he lobs something nice he'd picked up -- honing oil and a sharpening stone if he knows you're specialized in bladed weapons, for example, or a magic stone if you're a paramagic specialist. He has a pretty good stash, and keeps better tabs on the students than you'd think, so chances are he's got something you might like.]

Considering what you've lost, I do not blame you for wanting to take a step back.

[His expression is not unkind, but he does not expand on that statement any further or offer any real sentiments of sympathy. Snow looks like he's trying to move past the disappearance of Serah, and what good would it be for him to drag the center of attention back to that very matter?

Besides, he has a book being tossed at him. He catches the thing easily and takes a quick look at the cover, lips quirking into a fleeting smile.
]

Thank you. Is there a special gift-giving occasion that I am not aware of?

[Admittedly, Snow does seem the type to randomly give out gifts on a whim, but all the same, it can't hurt to ask in the rare case that something did slip manage to slip past him.]

A good enough reason, if I've ever heard one.

[He gestures briefly at bag Snow's carrying.]

How much did you bring back?
fallacies: (my subconscious seems polite enough.)

A large haul then.

[A brief smile graces his features.]

Did you attempt to personalize everything, or--[He hefts the book up briefly.]--am I merely fortunate enough that you know me well-enough to choose something to my tastes?

I imagine that it is a more structured affair here than back home.

[The words are not spoken unkindly though, and then after a moment--]

Did you ever consider joining the military?
fallacies: (i bought the airline. it seemed neater.)

Amodar is a good man. I'd say that you were fortunate in that regard, but at the same time, I have no doubt you made his life easier as well. [A pause.] In some sense of the term.

[NORA strikes Cid as a paperwork nightmare just waiting to happen. He wonders if the lieutenant ever felt the same way.]

Did you ever complete any joint operations together? Officially or not?

[Cid nods and then goes quiet for a moment, as if considering something.]

You mention not having any rules. May I ask how you kept everyone in order then? While it's possible that everyone got along harmoniously, I have some trouble seeing an entire organization coming across that way.
fallacies: (i say: don't think about elephants.)

I was under the impression that it was a larger group, but then again, perhaps it was your actions that spoke louder than the actual numbers. It seems to be less an actual organization and more a band of friends--a family.
fallacies: (excellent. but you learned a lot--right?)

[personal profile] fallacies 2012-05-18 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
[He gives Snow a curious look.]

Did you ever think to call upon them for help following the Purge?
fallacies: (inception. is it possible?)

[personal profile] fallacies 2012-05-21 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Did they now? Good timing on their part then.
fallacies: (i bought the airline. it seemed neater.)

[Cid chuckles quietly and then nods his head.]

I will accept your word on the matter, expert that you are. [A pause.] The citizens of Eden must have been thankful for the additional assistance.

[--what with the Sanctum forces trying to take care of the monsters and the l'Cie at once.]
fallacies: (my subconscious seems polite enough.)

I can see no truer sign of friendship than that.

[Cid is, perhaps, a little envious of Snow, but what's done is done. Given another chance, he likely would've done the same thing and kept the matter a secret from his men.]
