Valentines events

Because we've been posting here a lot lately, both the host/ess clubs and the movie screening are going to be in this post under different threads.

Host and hostess clubs: Cafeteria; boys 0800-1200, girls 1330-1630.

Movie screening: Quad; setting up from 2000, film starts 2100 and runs about an hour and a half.

At ease. [Shadow is not unused to others saluting him, but it's awkward in a hostess club type of setting.] The two go hand in hand in this situation.

Well, then I'm celebrating it my way, sir. I'm only doing this as a favor, and if any guys come in here to seriously attempt to make time with a cute girl, my only part in that will be not getting in their way as they line up for Mikuru.

If you're not going to put all your effort into what you do, especially if you're repaying a favor, you might as well go back to the dorms and not waste time.

[Such an ethic won't make a good SeeD in Shadow's eye.]

[gunbladegrrl]

[She grits her teeth and bites back a sharp retort with a harsh effort of will. How many times were people going to tell her she isn't good enough?]

I apologize for being inadequately feminine, sir.

Your gender has nothing to do with it. I could care less about that. You should really be apologizing for not putting your best effort into something.

[gunbladegrrl]

You might as well hand Mikuru a gunblade and then yell at her for not killing a T-Rexaur with it on her first run through the Training Center --

[She bites down the anger. Hard.]

I apologize, sir. I have no idea what the hell I'm doing here except being female and attempting to win customers with my charm. I am talented at neither.

[He'll just ignore that part. For her own good.]

Agreed. Yet I'm here for some odd reason. Maybe next time, you should choose how to repay favors better.

What are you supposed to be doing, precisely? Besides using your charms.

[gunbladegrrl]

Hosting, sir. Should anyone come to my table, I will serve them and entertain them to the best of my capability.

[eiusumbra]

Lets start then. [That's right. Shadow is your first customer.]

[gunbladegrrl]

[Her gears almost visibly shift. Up till now it's been all business; she'd known he was only patrolling and looking for trouble. But now he's a customer, and that changes things.]

[Actually, that sudden forced shift of mood looks almost painful. She swipes her hair back, clears her throat, then shuts her eyes for just a second. When she opens them again, it's with a bright and honest smile.]

Welcome to our hostess club, sir! Please, have a seat!

[eiusumbra]

[The shift in her demeanor was so instant and sincere. Shadow is impressed, and a bit creeped out by it. Maybe at a later point in time, he'll take back the words he said to her.]

Thank you. [He goes over to a table stiffly.]

Have a seat. Would you care for some tea? [Yes, she's putting on quite a show... well, mostly.] I hope you're entertained by talk about weapons, training, and being a SeeD in general, because those are the conversations I can carry best.

[eiusumbra]

Those topics are fine. [Since that's all he could really talk about, besides guns and blowing things up.] What kind of tea?

[gunbladegrrl]

[She relaxes a little. Good.]

Minty, green, black, raspberry, and Earl Grey. [She'd memorized them beforehand to avoid having to look.]

[eiusumbra]

Black, then. [He was expecting more fruity flavors, which he doesn't like.]

[gunbladegrrl]

Sugar? [She doesn't expect him to say yes, but she has to ask as she pours the tea. It's not fancy or anything, but she has an incredibly steady grip and a certain amount of poise... it's just the sort of poise one expects to see from someone about to slap someone around with weapons, not pour tea. Well, close enough?]

[eiusumbra]

[Shadow shook his head at the offer.] Prepared to be a SeeD?

[gunbladegrrl]

Snacks? [She makes a broad motion over the different light, sugary-bakey things she'd selected for her table, still every bit the gracious hostess. With his question, though, she relaxes enough to chuckle a little.]

Ready, yes and no. Prepared, not at all. I have a lot to put into the next two quarters before I'll be satisfied.

[eiusumbra]

[Ah, Shadow can't really resist baked goods. He'll nod and point over to a tart-like snack.]

The load gets easier to take on, but that just means you have more time to perfect your techniques. Got a sparring partner? [He takes up his drink and tastes it. Kinda plain.]

'What do people see in tea?' [He doesn't see the appeal.]

[gunbladegrrl]

Not yet, sir. [She moves the tart onto a little place, then passes it with as much grace as she can manage.] It's a problem, actually. If I don't pull the triggers on my gunblades, it's not anywhere near my best efforts, and I'm not learning what I need to know the most. If I do, I could really hurt someone.

[She sighs.] The Commander sparred with me once, but... Time compression. he's never here consistently and he doesn't remember me.

[eiusumbra]

...then I'll spar with you. [Takes the tart and bites into it. Not bad.]

[gunbladegrrl]

What weapons do you use, sir? [She draws a few pastries onto a plate for herself, then takes a seat opposite him to continue the conversation.]

[eiusumbra]

Guns, when I feel like doing so. [The Chaos Emerald he uses is a special type of weapon Maria probably wouldn't understand.]

[gunbladegrrl]

That's an interesting matchup. I'd like to see more firearms in action, so it's very appreciated. I've... actually been considering taking the projectile weapons classes. [Very sheepish, that. She's a gunblade girl, she feels kind of weird stepping outside of that role.]

[Smirks faintly.] There's nothing wrong with a bit of variety. What kind of projectile?
