[After the orders were given during Saturday's announcement, SeeDs Vriska Serket and Grell Sutcliffe had been privately briefed on the mission they were to supervise and assess, as had Nida, who was specifically in charge of assessing the would-be piloting specialist on this mission. The candidates for the exam, on the other hand, would only be briefed on the day, and had two days to prepare.

[Finally, the day to prove that they too could be the pride of Balamb Garden was here.]

[Cid, clutching a mug of coffee, comes bustling towards everyone from Garden, accompanied by a faculty member. Before he starts talking, he passes his coffee to the faculty member; when he's not looking, the faculty member takes a sip of it.]

That's everyone, right? [His eyes find the SeeDs, then he does a quick headcount of the cadets.] Good. I hope everyone's doing well this early morning.

[He's given this speech so many times before, but he still believes in every word. His SeeDs have been proving him right for years. As he speaks, he walks back and forth, looking at each and every one of the cadets and SeeDs here.]

This exam will involve six members. You will be proceeding to a real battlefield, where the battles are for real. Life and death, victory and defeat, honour and disgrace... Each of these go hand in hand. There's only one way or the other. [He pauses to look each of the cadets in the eye.] How 'bout it? Are you still up for it?

You will be accompanied by three SeeD members... [Cid nods to Vriska and Grell, before glancing to the skies behind him, where a small dot is growing.] One of whom is on his way over. Should you fail, these members shall get the job done. They always do. [He smiles reassuringly at the cadets.] Well, that's one less worry on your mind.

The pride of Balamb Garden! The elite mercenary force, SeeD! Learn from them, obey their commands and accomplish the mission. Prove yourself worthy of becoming a member of SeeD.
