[After the orders were given during Saturday's announcement, SeeDs Vriska Serket and Grell Sutcliffe had been privately briefed on the mission they were to supervise and assess, as had Nida, who was specifically in charge of assessing the would-be piloting specialist on this mission. The candidates for the exam, on the other hand, would only be briefed on the day, and had two days to prepare.

[Finally, the day to prove that they too could be the pride of Balamb Garden was here.]

One Cadet, the one from earlier who'd been reading those notecards so fatefully, gulps and nearly clutches onto his T-boarding friend for dear life.]

We're going THERE? You mean the Island Closest to Hell?

That's our field exam?

[And he thought it was going to be a stereotypical field exam where they just... well, the notecard Cadet didn't know, he expected more computers and less fieldwork. This would be a very, very rough day.]

Must you spoil things? REALLY. Yes, we're going there, but our focus deals with what is there. I'm sure you're all aware of the Lunatic Pandora?

[The minute Grell mentions 'Lunatic Pandora?'

... Poor notecard Cadet falls into the arms of T-Boarder Cadet and nearly faints from shock. They're off to an excellent start already, aren't they?

Notecard Cadet's twin sister, agreeing with the narration, palms her face.]

[Oh, Espio's heard of these things - it's not like he sleeps through class. But he doesn't see why an island covered with super-strong monsters or a giant monster-summoning crystal pillar in a box are worth the dramatics, so he gives the cadets a look.]

And I thought the SeeDs were being too dramatic. Nobody said we'd have to fight the monsters there, considering we all know they're way out of most SeeDs' league. And from what I know of the Lunatic Pandora, the main concern is if it does something... or someone else tries to get control of it.

So, let me guess - we've got to stop the Lunatic Pandora doing something, or falling in the wrong hands. Right?

[Please tell him he's right. He'll go mad if he's kept away from the cockpit for too long - he's been longing to fly this ship forever.]
