He stares at his acceptance letter yet again, even though he's probably memorized half of it by now. He's still not sure what aspect of all of this should freak him out the most, which is his biggest problem right now.]

So I'm on a different world with no way home where apparently magic exists. And somehow, I now go to a military school here. And there are other people from other worlds with 'unnatural powers.' Alright. I think I get it.

[OH GOD, WHAT EVEN IS THIS---

Danny flops down onto a bench, hunched over the letter, which is now on his knees. He hasn't even noticed the course catalog yet.]

So...what? I just...don't go home? I stay here in this weird, different world and become a Plant or whatever? and I never get to see Dad again?

[By now he's forgotten that, yes, this is, in fact, a public place and absolutely anyone can see him moping. Feel free to remind him.]

[Quistis had just been passing through the lobby after visiting Dr. Kadowaki when she spots the rather downcast boy sitting on one of the benches. It's when her eyes catch the acceptance letter in his hands does she get a hunch as to why he might be in such a mood-- and thus she carefully approaches him, hoping to be of some help.]

[He jolts up, suddenly realizing that someone else is here. He sits up straight and tries to look her in the eyes, but doesn't really manage.]

Uh...just--gathering my bearings, I guess. I'm new here, so I'm just trying to sort of...adjust.

[She gives him a smile which hopefully comes off as friendly.]

[Danny looks up at Cid, but it takes him a few moments before he actually speaks.]

I think so, yeah. I only just showed up here, so I kind of don't know what to do.

It's not that you don't go home. It's that right now you can't go home.

[Rinoa settles down onto the bench next to him with a cheerful smile.]

And they're called SeeD not plants. Though I guess that is kind of a weird name, huh? But don't worry! We'll get this mess sorted out sometime and then everyone can go back to their own worlds, or time in my case.

[Wouldja look at that--he already sounds more optimistic! Not like he's hard to cheer up--he's pretty optimistic himself, but something as big as suddenly finding yourself on a different world tends to screw with that a bit.]

It can be a little confusing at first, don't worry you'll get used to it.

I'm not sure if vacation is a good word for it. Unless you think classes and military training are vacation material? It's actually not all that bad though, some of the classes are even fun!

[Mikuru only catches the tail end of this monologue, and sits next to him on the bench.]

It's weird and different, sure, but most people are really nice! And you might get to see him again: I've heard of people going home, and sometimes things or people from your world might turn up here.

[She gives him a smile she hopes is encouraging, figuring that cheering him up is more important than telling him that actually, it's SeeDs, not Plants.]

So...this whole--'being stuck on another world' thing isn't forever?

I don't think so. [She's given this one a lot of thought; her gaze drifts off as she considers it.] I had this instructor I really looked up to who was from another world too, and I haven't seen her for a while. I know she wasn't sent on a mission or anything either, and no one else has seen her either, so she's probably not in this world any more. My old roommate disappeared too, and some of my classmates...

[Her eyes meet Danny's again, sure in her belief.] I think they went home. It's really random, so I think we just need to make the best of our stay here, until either we end up back home or they figure out how to send us home.

[Greece's had his hourly coffee, which explains why he's sitting rather than sprawling on a bench nearby. Not that it makes much difference. He's still sitting forward, ready to fall asleep in his coffee.]
