espio: (hmm...)

[bbs] first person to suggest a self-help book gets defenestrated

[Considering how happy Espio has been lately, his recent moping certainly seems quite a dramatic contrast... and after the weekend, it has only become worse. Moreso now because he's noticed it, which made him think, which in turn made him think of other things to be unhappy about.

The obvious solution might have been to tackle the cause... but unfortunately, despite what it might look like to a few people, the cause just isn't one isolated thing, and the only ways he can see to tackle the issues he can tackle look pretty hopeless.
]

So what do you do when doing and/or thinking something is ridiculously bad for you and by extension the people around you, but no matter what you do to distract yourself and put your focus on something else, you can't help yourself? Even though all the logic and reasonable thinking you possess says you're wrong and stupid.

I don't mean anything specific, more a collection of things. They don't even make sense, so don't ask. General summary is: I'm an idiot.

[.........................]

[After banging his forehead against a wall a few times, Marco does some stretches, cracks his knuckles, and sets out to find Espio in person.]

[He needs a vacation. Maybe he'll just take Toby with him and go hiking through caves and playing with monsters for a week.]

[That actually takes a little while because Marco goes look most other places, but it also gives him time to steal some cupcakes to bring with him, so when he knocks, he's carrying a box of them, and nomming on a blue one for himself.]

Yo! You in there little bro? [He's doing this just because all four: Marco, Thatch, Namur, and Ace would be likely to start off a conversation this way and he likes to be irksome.]

[Marco finishes off his cupcake, and carefully opens the door to protect the baked goods against more thrown projectiles.]

So.

How's your day been?

[For once, Marco doesn't just straight up kidnap the chameleon, blankets and all, though by gods he was tempted.

He sets down the cupcakes nearby and kneels down in front of Espio, offering the chameleon a hand. Either to come out and join Marco, or tug Marco to the bed to join him.]

I'm sorry, eh.

I probably should have come and spoke with you after I talked to Toby.

You're not an idiot though. Or at least, you are, but not for the reason you think.

[His thoughts sound a little disjointed, even to Marco's own ears. So many points in so many circles and connecting them all is one thing, explaining them is even more yet another.]
fierybluebird: (Calm down I'll take care of it)

[Marco sighs and folds his arms on the bed and his chin on top of those.]

No?

[He tilts his head like a bird, running down a list of the problems. Which pretty much range from "everything" to a few specifics. 1) Change is hard. And here he'd asked Espio not just to change, but to keep moving forward with them. Yup that was a big headache right there. 2) The Chaotix still weren't here, and indeed, might never be again. Marco couldn't help much with that, except to keep Espio company. 3) .... Actually Marco wasn't sure of the third. Maybe that was part of the problem too. He could be immensely dense.]

[What was the right thing to do here? The wrong thing? This was why Marco hated being captain. Having to figure out right vs. wrong even when he couldn't. Even when he knew damn well that the situation had neither.]

[With Toby it was easy. The kid was a perfect combination of himself and Ace that Marco didn't have to guess so much. With Grell, even if he said the wrong thing, he could do the right thing to fix it. Same with Thatch and Namur. All right, he'd just have to give it his best.]

Luckily for us, I'm in a good mood [a lie] so I'll just stay here and wait yours out until you're ready to talk, eh?

[He quietly ruffles Espio's head through the blanket.] And if you don't want to talk, we can go flying in silence, eh. If you really want, I'll even let you drive.

Then there's no reason for you to hide away in here either.

You can, but not for weeks and months on end for problems you clearly want help in either coping with or resolving.

Aye, it has. Unless there's a specific one or two weighing more on your mind of late? [Arches an eyebrow suspiciously.]

My idiot brothers being idiots.

Your classes or lack thereof, a sudden shortage of the world's turnips, Grell and Thatch both vying to become your mother-in-law, my son following in my footsteps so much that we both forget how to behave normally in social situations, you miss your world, how about instead of my guessing, you tell me, eh?
