[Along the Dollet Beach students from the academy seem to have set up a small little beach party. There are blankets, coolers, Grell in a bikini, and even Marco is just hanging out in his beach shorts (although you won't ever see him go in the water.) There's even a beach volleyball area set up. Purely for the viewing pleasure of the guys watching. Seeing the scene you would never expect lots of violence that was about to befall.]

I'm an adventurer, which means spending a lot of time traveling alone and working with strangers. But because of them... I never got scared at night at the campfire, or lonely when I was walking through the plateau with nobody else in sight for miles. And because most of us serve the same nation, when I'd finally come back to the kingdom... they'd make it feel like I was coming home.

Friends, traveling companions, so close they might as well be family. You work with them day in and day out, and you wouldn't automatically call them friends because sometimes they get on your nerves and as friends you wouldn't choose them. So they become almost like family. People you accept as they are no matter what and you've always got each other's backs.

I guess they should come up with another word for it since no one seems to recognize that one, but I can't think of a better one, eh.

There there, I was very grateful, eh. And completely out of my mind to be fair. I haven't gone that fully into bird-brain mode since before I met Pops.

I ate the phoenix devil fruit before I can even remember. In my world they're considered a curse. But it's sort of like a defense mechanism. Normally I can't get too sick or injured because of it, but when I do, it just sort of happens. Trying to heal me I guess.

Can I ask why you ate it? [She can't fathom why, then again, she can't understand Blue Mages in her home world who willingly take in beast blood and will ultimately suffer a transformation for it.]

Because I was a baby or toddler with a penchant for putting things in my mouth?

I ate before I can even remember anything. My earliest memories I actually thought I was a phoenix and that being a human was just a disguise phoenixes had learned to master in order to fit in. [Facepalms at his younger self.] I've certainly never regretted it though.
