Docked in Dollet - OPEN to everyone in Garden

[At 0900 hours, the announcement bell chimes and once again a voice much more youthful than the Headmaster's begins to speak.]

Good morning, inhabitants of Balamb Garden! This is your pilot Nida speaking. Now that we're docked in Dollet, it's time to get our vacation on! That's right - everyone's free to leave Garden and stretch their legs. Hyne knows I will! [He sounds so eager and can't help but give a little laugh.]

Please remember to stay safe while exploring and don't go getting into too much trouble! Oh! I forgot - curfew. I know I know. Not something you want to hear, s-sorry! Anyways. About that curfew. Good news! All cadets are given an extra half-hour in which they must return to Garden for the remainder of the night. Instead of having to check in at 2300 hours, curfew for this week is 2330 hours.

Don't worry though. We'll be here all week! Plenty of time to sight see and whatever else you want to get done.

Have fun, everyone! Maybe we'll bump into each other.

[The announcement ends, and the intercom clicks off.]

Students are free to roam around the city or keep within Garden if they so desire. The second term will start August 1st-- until then, it's vacation time!

[Quistis picks up a shot glass, examining it for a moment. She can hardly believe that the Commander of all people just bought them drinks.]

This isn't just water, is it?

[She was a bit weary of it too, only because this is Squall.

But she's not going to turn down a drink, and even if it's just water. She takes one of them, and downs the shot. Ooo, good burn.]

[Gives a pointed look in Xu's direction.] So? Is it water?

[She watches Xu's reaction, and it's clear that the liquid isn't water at all. She eyes her shot glass again, before tilting her head back and taking the shot. Oh, that definitely burned.]

Definitely not water.

[Whatever possessed Squall to buy them drinks, it was cool.]

Now are you going to have one with us?

[Folds his arms over his chest and shakes his head.]

[She perks a brow at that.]

Commander, are you trying to get us drunk?

[She sighs, leaning back in her chair. Might as well, hm? Second shot downed.]

[Squall let's his attention wander around the pub while the two down their shots, not all that interested in watching them.]

Just returning the favor for the previous drink.

[Shrugs a shoulder.]

[She warily eyes Xu.]

When I suggested we go for a drink, I was thinking more on the terms of a glass of wine...

[She gives a small sigh and finally throws the drink back, another small wince following as the burn sears into her throat.]

And I was thinking we'd have a third drinking partner.

[Squall was not going to get out of this with only one drink. Nuh-uh. She was determined to see her Commanding Officer drag himself back to his room.

Third drink. She tosses it back, the burn of the hard liquor being felt as it slid down her throat.]

[They seem to be forgetting that he has Cadets to look after. A whole shitload of them to boot.]

[She watches with amusement as Xu takes the last shot. Quistis, however, takes the remaining shot and points it slightly towards Squall.]

If I take this shot and buy us another round, you're sticking around to finish it with us. Deal?

[Xu set the last glass down, sliding it into the middle with the other glasses. She scoots her chair out slightly, letting her head rest against the table. Man, that burned.]

I haven't had that much gin since I was a cadet...

[Squall looks a little smug at that mutter from Xu, and he nods once.]

Deal.

[Quistis smiles as Squall agrees, and without further ado, she takes the last shot-- and man, she could feel the burn all the way down to her chest.]

Alright, then. [She slides out of her chair and begins to walk towards the counter, leaving the two behind to talk. Her strides a bit more slow and cautious due to the alcohol, but there's a hint of a sway in her steps.]

Teaches me to buy you tequila for the first round.

[Still on the smug side, more amused now than anything. He gives her a slight smile and glances over to Quistis.]

Not so sure on how she's going to hold up, though.

Oh sure, blame this on me.

[He would too. She was just trying to be nice and all. You were a cruel, cruel man, Squall Leonhart.]

Ten to one the next round she brings is wine.

[Squall now scowls at Quistis's back. He tries not to groan at the possibility that his old instructor might really be bringing them wine. In fact. He's dreading it.]

She does that and she's getting another round of gin.

Now I'm hoping she brings wine. Though if she takes another round of gin one of us is carrying her home.

[Now he just sighs. And shakes his head.] It's your turn. I carried her the last time.

[Xu raised an eyebrow at that, and a predatory smile quirked on her lips.]

... [Squall looks away. And then shrugs a shoulder as if it was nothing and something he did every day.]

She was tripping over herself. In front of cadets.

[Xu nodded carefully, still smirking.]

And you were the chivalric one and helped her. How thoughtful.
