Docked in Dollet - OPEN to everyone in Garden

[At 0900 hours, the announcement bell chimes and once again a voice much more youthful than the Headmaster's begins to speak.]

Good morning, inhabitants of Balamb Garden! This is your pilot Nida speaking. Now that we're docked in Dollet, it's time to get our vacation on! That's right - everyone's free to leave Garden and stretch their legs. Hyne knows I will! [He sounds so eager and can't help but give a little laugh.]

Please remember to stay safe while exploring and don't go getting into too much trouble! Oh! I forgot - curfew. I know I know. Not something you want to hear, s-sorry! Anyways. About that curfew. Good news! All cadets are given an extra half-hour in which they must return to Garden for the remainder of the night. Instead of having to check in at 2300 hours, curfew for this week is 2330 hours.

Don't worry though. We'll be here all week! Plenty of time to sight see and whatever else you want to get done.

[The announcement ends, and the intercom clicks off.]


[Mod note: Here's the kick off to the week of vacation for the cadets! For those who are unfamiliar with Dollet, information about the city can be found here. Students are free to roam around the city or keep within Garden if they so desire. The second term will start August 1st-- until then, it's vacation time!

[Squall now scowls at Quistis's back. He tries not to groan at the possibility that his old instructor might really be bringing them wine. In fact. He's dreading it.]

She does that and she's getting another round of gin.

Now I'm hoping she brings wine. Though if she takes another round of gin one of us is carrying her home.

[Now he just sighs. And shakes his head.] It's your turn. I carried her the last time.

[Xu raised an eyebrow at that, and a predatory smile quirked on her lips.]

You carried her last time?

... [Squall looks away. And then shrugs a shoulder as if it was nothing and something he did every day.]

She was tripping over herself. In front of cadets.

[Xu nodded carefully, still smirking.]

And you were the chivalric one and helped her. How thoughtful.

I was saving her from embarrassing herself. [Squall sends Xu a 'look'.]

[Aww, her commanding officer was so cute when he got defensive. She was immune to that look, Squall. She's seen it too many times.]

Of course. It was the right thing to do.

[And Quistis arrives back at the table in that moment, placing three shot glasses on the wooden surface.]

Hope you two had a nice chat without me.

[Squall glances over at her then the shots. He says nothing and doesn't even reach for one. He says nothing at all. Only sends Xu yet another look]

[Now it's Xu's turn to be a bit smug. She'll have to bug Quistis about all the details later. She looks to her friend as she sets the shot glasses down.]

So, what did you bring us?

[She picks up her shot glass and gives Xu a pointed look.]

What was that you told me? I think it was something along the lines of 'Don't ask, just drink.'

[Lowers his gaze again to the shots, narrowing them as if he's trying to figure out what it is just by looking at it.]

[She shot Quistis a look.] It better not be gin.

[She'd slide one over to herself. There was a hesitant pause, debating for a moment, before she picked hers up and drank it. Ooo, burn. She winced slightly.]

[She gives Xu a smile.] You approve, then?

[Quistis then shoots Squall a look.] Your turn, Commander.

[Glances at Quistis and meets that look, reaching for the shot. To humor them he lifts it to them before throwing the shot of vodka back.]

[The Commander ends up coughing after it burns his throat as he drops the shot glass into the pile.]

Clearly we need to take you out for drinks more often, Squall.

[She was going to have to get Quistis back for the vodka shots. She hoists herself out of her chair, standing still for a moment. She was a competent drinker, and could hold her own for a while, but they had been mixing drinks and had been drinking hard liquor for a while now. She wanted to make sure she could stand, let alone walk.]

My turn, I'll be back. [And she's heading off for her round.]

[She can't help but let out a small laugh at Squall's coughing. Once her mirth dies down, Quistis throws back her own shot, this time not bothering to hide her wince.]

That definitely burned.

[She scoffs, crossing her arms over her chest and leaning back in her chair.]

Please, I don't need any help. [Never mind that her cheeks are already a bit reddened from the alcohol.]

[Looks across at her now.] At least this time there aren't any cadets around to witness anything embarrassing.

... We landed in the Gossip Column, Quistis. [Frowns as he remembers what was written.]
