It hasn't been done in quite some time, and I'm aware that a good number of us speak Japanese, but who would like to help others learn the language? Alternatively, who would like to start a group to maintain our Japanese? I find that the less we use our native language, them more we'll forget.

[Mikuru knows 'Old Shumi' is an option on these computers, she's seen LAN 101 materials in it, but she cannot figure out for the life of her how to switch her keyboard to it. So, have some polite romaji.]

A Japanese language group is a great idea! I do really miss using it sometimes, and I had fun teaching Damian-kun way back when.

It could be helpful for those who took Old Shumi in LAN 101, too - they're so similar.

They are, but I'm a bit biased to stick with Japanese. [To him, it's just not as good as Japanese.]

Ah, so he was learning it then? I had a suspicion. I definitely think starting a group would be a good idea, yet it would need to be a cadet to run it for the most part after a while.

Student leadership's great! I could try asking around the language department to see if anyone knows of someone who might be interested?

The point of this was to encourage speakers of Japanese to not forget most of their language, while encouraging others to try an learn it. It isn't geared towards those who know Old Shumi, but we could always have a few activities involving them.

That would be greatly appreciated!

I wouldn't say it would be a problem, but after not using it for a while, it's easy to forget some words or sentence structures. Even those who use it everyday, sometimes use the wrong words due to not knowing their true meanings.

There would of course be a few activities, such as word games and writing activities. We can have discussion topics, as well.

well so long as its not just extra lessons in disguise im in! sounds kinda kiddie i gotta say, but apart from that its a neat idea
at least jst to hang out with people u know you can talk to about stuff from back home w/o htem lookin at you like your an alien

well in that case why not add some incentive?
i mean
its probably too late in the year to set up our own fireworks or other summer stuff, but something like that
get peoples interest you know? then the language things like a bonus

Food is always a good incentive! I'm fairly decent at making a few dishes.

No, the starting of this group was my idea. You're the one who had the idea of having incentives. If you want them to happen, then you'll have to do your part!
