[Thursday morning, 0559 hours.]

[Garden as a whole abruptly drops two feet.]

[The facility strikes the ground with a massive crash and shake that bears the full weight of every single one of its pounds. Loose items tumble to the floor and glass shatters in a cacophonous tumult that only serves as counterpoint to the greater and far more ominous crash of earth meeting metal. Massive vibrations race through Garden as different parts of it resonate with the force of the impact. Somewhere on the first floor, a chocobo literally screams in rage, a sound almost monstrous in its inhumanity. The lights flicker and then go out entirely.]

[Like an earthquake -- and no one would blame anyone for mistaking the source of the crash and shake, if not for the sickening drop that had yanked everyone's stomach into their throat for a heartstopping moment -- the shaking, roar, and vibrations slowly fade away, leaving only panick, fear, and disarray behind. And very ominous silence. The power has failed; the lights are out, water does not flow, and besides the residents, nothing stirs.]

[Then... slowly, but inexorably, Balamb Garden begins to tilt.]

What the fuck--!? [he had been sleeping, just dropped off when this and at first he can do nothing but blink in the darkness, sucking in deep breaths. He tries to turn on the light but nothing.

And then the tilting.]

[He bolts out of bed, pulling his hair back along the way and with some force wrenches his door open before bolting across the hall and wrenching Marco's door open.]

Get Espio and Toby!

[he'll take care of the others. He skids to Namur's room, right next to his own, and tries the door though it seems stuck]

[There's a loud thump from the other side of the door. Then someone gets smart and there's the sound of fingers scrabbling at the seam. The door opens about halfway, because it's now dented in the middle.]

Damn things're tough shits. Oh! Hey, bro. The hell's goin' on?

[Namur gets an arm and about half his chest out before he gets lodged. He grunts and pushes against the door some more, but it doesn't budge.]

[Marco barely even noticed there was a problem.]

[He does put down the newspaper though, jam a few potions into his utility belt and head out into the hall.... whistling.]

[Look, panic all you want, but he's seen the Garden do dumbass shit like this before.] Espio and Toby will be fine, they survived a giant sword slicing the garden in half and the time we crashed in the snow with dragons running everywhere. And that was worse because Espio can't handle cold.

[Still, he goes from relaxed/nonplussed to extremely focused even quicker than Thatch went into panic mode.] Nam-chan, back the fuck up, eh?

[What.

Selphie was sound asleep when the crash threw her out of bed. Landing on the floor like a sack of old potatoes, she stares at the ceiling for a bit before she's rolling to one side in the direction of her backpack emergency kit. Disasters with Garden had happened before and she'd be aptly prepared for this one. Her room is a viable mess as she scrambles to get her nunchaku and clothes on. She straps her weapon in place before she makes for the door and punches the emergency release code in.

Nothing happens.]

What the hell?

[She's not the strongest person in the world but she pulls out the emergency handle and starts forcing the door open. She can hear other people out in the dorms, shouting about what's going on. She wants to shout at them to quit panicking and to help others out of her room but her door is slow to open.]

C'mon you stupid bucket of bolts. OPEN ALREADY!

[And just as she shouts at the door, it slides open the rest of the way and she staggers out into the hall. She has to take the lead here before mass hysteria sets in.]

Everybody keep calm! Help everybody out of their rooms and follow standard evacuation procedures. Wounded SeeD and cadets take evac priority.

[Kory had been sound asleep when suddenly the building suddenly drops. She sat up bolt in bed as it began to shake around her. A few of her books tumbled to the floor and she does try to get to her feet even as it was still shaking.

When it finally stopped, she tried the lights. They didn't work. Well, she had something else at her disposal. She used a starbolt in her hand to light the room. She headed to the door and forced it open, stepping into the hallway, one hand still lighting the area around her]

Does anyone need help?

[Hearing her query, Selphie turns to look at Koriand'r.]

Get as many of those doors open as you can. Not everybody in the dorms has the strength to get theirs open.

[And she immediately moves to the doors. She let the light fade long enough to force the doors open, with little difficulty, before moving to the next, flyign between the spaces]

Given that the power cut out a mere minute before 0600, Emias doesn't get the alarm stirring him awake. The tremors and the lurching of Garden don't seem to faze him in his sleep, and he just, well... keeps sleeping.

If this were an invasion, he'd likely be dead.

Then again, this is probably what he gets for spending days at a time without sleep lately.

It'd probably be for the best if someone else found him.]

[Luckily, Gakupo wakes up pretty early most days, so he's actually dressed for the day. And what a day it will be. He's decided to knock on every door he comes across to make sure no one is inside, and to see if anyone needs help. He comes to a door and bangs on it hard.]

HEY! IS ANYONE IN THERE?!

[Thankfully, that seems to get attention that mechanical screeching and chocobo distress didn't. The moogle stirs, grumbling and rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.]

Oi! It's the middle of the night, kupo! Let a guy get some sleep!

[...He seems to be oblivious to the awkward slant of the room, or the fact his clock is dead. Give him a few moments.]

What is happening?! [ Dolphin almost hits the desk when the crash occurs. She's careful to keep her feet back, narrowly avoiding getting her feet stuck under the posts of the desk when Garden drops. The bounce once it hits doesn't go softly, and it's only thanks to the carpeting of the office that she doesn't break anything.

She slips out the doorway, and it's only thanks to her mad grab for the light fixture on the wall that she doesn't continue sliding all the way out of the office level. She's still clinging to the fixture when the shaking stops, scared. ]

[Gakupo, who is pretty out of breath after running around everywhere, spots someone in need of help.]

Are you alright?! [He runs towards her, trying his best to run against the tilts of the ship.]

[ Dolphin hunches her shoulders at the noise and thinks it's another quake first, prepared to brace herself again it. But then the sounds come across clearly and she turns her head around, and lights up at the presence of another person. ]

Yes! I'm fine. Just really scared, is all.

[ Sigyn had been in the pool for an early morning swim when the fall occurs. She's luckily still in the water when they make impact, and she'd been near enough to the ladder to hold onto it when the momentum started. Waters all over the pool area, the chairs have been tossed around, and Sigyn's things, once lying on one of the tables, are on the ground.

Still in her swimsuit, she hurries out of the pool, mindful of the knock to her equilibrium, and grabs her towel and her dagger -- it's already fact that she takes her dagger everywhere -- and after slipping her feet into her boots -- also a constant -- she's hurrying out the open door, wanting answers. ]

[Fionna had the same idea about the pool, albeit for different reasons. Her roomie seemed to be gone now, which had taken the wind out of her sails a bit. The new developments going on had distracted her a little, but not much, so it was business as usual as far as she was concerned.

Except, of course, when the tilt started. She was in her swimsuit about to move toward the pool and suddenly everything shifts! Fionna moves for the first stable thing and, being Fionna, rights herself quickly with a "hup!" and is on her feet, legs bent, and sees someone she knows].

Sigyn?! What's going on?

[ Saber is in the first floor lobby when the Garden drops. Having to put her hand out to catch herself on the edge of the pathway, she remains noticeably calm throughout the ordeal. Only once the garden starts to tilt, does the Instructor start to walk down the pathway.

Along the way, she'll be instructing students nearby to be calm and take cover, preferably getting onto the ground and hold onto something. If she can recognize someone as a SeeD, they'll be instructed to take care of the younger classmen. She has faith in the higher ups, so is simply waiting for the power to come on along with an announcement.

It was useless for everyone to be running around and panicking when they knew not what was happening. They simply needed to react accordingly. ]

[Whether or not she'd be able to recognise a SeeD whose long red coat is far from standard-issue and whose height doesn't exactly trumpet any position of authority, it turns out not to matter - Ed spots her first, while her back is turned speaking to a gaggle of students at the side of the tilting walkway, and jumps to his own conclusions. He wastes no time in heading over, practically towing a flustered-looking (and only half-dressed) cadet behind him.]

Hey! Look after this guy too. [He jabs a thumb over his shoulder.] I need to go check the dorms again.

[He doesn't seem panicked or even out of breath, but his face is a little flushed; he's not trying to hide the fact that he's in a hurry.]

CANYOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!!!!!!

[The cry comes from outside, where Rainbow Dash -- who had, of course, just gone out the window of her room -- stares in shock at the canyon Garden is sitting on the precarious edge of.]

[She races back in through the front doors to holler out again.]

WE'RE ON THE EDGE OF A CANYON! WE'RE FALLING IN!

WHAAAAAAAAAAAT?!

[Gakupo ends up here since he's going about Garden to get people to safety.]

Are...what... [He's panicking because how can they get people to safety if they can't alert everyone?! He looks to the winged horse, not minding that...it's a winged horse. Isn't her name really colorful, though?] We'll have to go around Garden and alert everyone!

Whoa, whoa!

[Guess who's just come back from the pool?]

What's happening? Why is everything all tilty?!

What the hell do you mean that we're falling into a canyon!

[ Chika wasn't in a particularly good mood, considering that she had been asleep when all of this started. Hell, she wasn't even dressed much at all, still in her nightgown, hair not even done.

Piyomon was by her side at least, and he looked just as confused as she did. ]

Why would we drive into a canyon? That... makes no sense at all.

[Was the door to your dorm jammed, or was something else distracting you from hauling yourself out through it up until about five seconds ago? Because now - after a violent blue flare in the sudden darkness, and a crackle that briefly manages to cut through even the background din of a panicked Garden - a near perfectly round section in the middle of it has rolled aside, leaving a hole large enough for a grown adult to clamber through, and the gauntlet-like metal hand beckoning just beyond it seems to suggest that that's the idea.]

What's the hold-up? Come on!

[In case anyone thought to wonder where Espio was, he's hanging out on the bottom of the Garden. Upside-down. Staring at the now motionless circular whatever-it-was, and the canyon beyond it.]

Well, that wasn't there yesterday.

WOULD YOU GET TO THE OTHER SIDE OF GARDEN AND STOP ADDING WEIGHT TO THIS SIDE?!

[Rainbow Dash is... now, apparently attempting to hold up Garden by sheer wingpower, the way she has her two foreshooves planted on the outermost rim and is straining upwards.]

[It is a testament both to her strength and how finely balanced Garden is that this actually seems to be helping.]
