[Gourry is smiling cheerfully as he looks into the camera, seated somewhere with his laptop level in front of him. He waves energetically; the video option has always suited him much better than writing things out, once he figured out how to work it. He doesn't have to worry about spelling things this way!
He rubs at the back of his neck as he addresses the camera, looking slightly lost despite the familiar surroundings.]
Looks like there's a lot of new cadets here since I went on my last mission! Makes you wonder where they're all comin' from! Anyway, thought I'd introduce myself, since I'm seein' a lot of new faces in the halls! The name's Gourry Gabriev, SeeD! Er, that's a title, not part of my name. I'm a sword specialist here! To any new cadets, good luck with your training, and watch out for Instructor Inverse! She's got a short temper and she's not shy about throwin' those fireballs around!
[The feed cuts out, the video being wrapped up rather unceremoniously.]
[Action, Afternoon:]
[Later that same day, Gourry can be found in uniform, seated in his own corner of the cafeteria with a table all to himself. There are about five full plates of food spread across it, which he is steadily working his way through without breaking a sweat. He's friendly enough, for anyone who wants to approach him, but keep an eye on your hands. You're likely to lose a finger if you set them down in the wrong place.]

[About ten minutes later, Gourry is waiting in the first area of the training center, swinging a rather ordinary-looking broadsword around and attacking the vegetation, appearing to be focusing on his footwork.]
[ALL THE ACTION!!]
He spots someone swinging their sword around, but could tell it isn't just out of boredom.]

Just practicing my footwork a little! And making sure I could hit things with the blade without it coming loose.

I used to have to keep it under wraps back home! All kinds of people wanted the Sword of Light. Couldn't let them know I was carryin' it!

[He grins broadly, holding the sword out in front of him, horizontally. Yep, plain old broadsword.]
Watch this.
[There was once a time he actually made an effort to keep this hidden. That time is long past, since he whips out the Sword of Light for just about any caliber of foe at this point.
He produces a small pin from somewhere, squinting and letting his tongue poke out between his lips as he fiddles with it near the hilt of the sword. The blade falls loose, hitting the ground, leaving the hilt itself empty.]
This is the Sword of Light.
[Not quite, Gourry.]

[He looks at the sword, proudly, but his face falls a moment later.]
Oh, right.
Light come forth!
[A blade of light suddenly extends from the hilt, longer than the false blade that had been in its place moments before, shining brightly enough that it's a little painful to look directly at it.]
Ha! There we go!

Gakupo is, of course, startled and shields his eyes from the light.]
So that's the Sword of Light! [Manages to look at the other, grinning.] Is it like a light saber?!

[He's beaming, practically. He's grown fond of the sword over time, ever since he decided to forget its messy history and do his best to use it to do something good, something worthwhile.]
Maybe. What's a light saber?

Ah, I guess it's my turn for show and tell. [Gakupo reaches over to the weapon on his hip and withdraws it from its sheath, the metal giving off a light ring as it slides out.]
