[BBS] Justice! // Action

You know the nice thing about justice is that it's universal. Whether people believe in following it out an internal guiding principle, for the sake of society, or the belief in a divine or spiritual intervention, whatever the world, cultural, or legal background, it's commonly considered a good principle.

Obviously I try to focus my classes on the justice systems of this world, or things all worlds seem to have in common, but I'm curious for anyone who knows of specific differences; something that is considered a justice or moral law where they're from but not here or other worlds. The same can go for anyone from this world too of course.

Likewise, I'm curious how all the different worlds enforce their legal systems. Even though each place seems to have some sort of basic governing law, each place also seems to need to enforce it. Maybe no matter what the universe, some people can't be trusted to follow it on their own.

[Oh, oh this is something right up her alley of all things.]

It seems, in this world, that the system of government is completely different from what I am used to. Where I am from we were under the rule of a singular person and, at times, a council as was necessary. Each kingdom and country had a ruler and even then there were others who were heads of smaller kingdoms, domains, villages, things of that nature.

As for the justice side of things, it depends on which particular area you are in. The larger kingdoms and countries usually take matters to the ruler to decide what side or theory is just and which is not. If it is something that is against the law set forth, then the ruler will get the guards to get that person to bring before them and the ruler decides on the punishment to be inflicted upon the person. Which can range anywhere between a simple slap on the wrist or a fine to larger things such as imprisonment, banishment, or death by various devices.

As far as I know, yes. Though I admit we do not know the whole world where I am from, not yet.

Well, the ones I can think of off the top of my head are attempting to assassinate royalty or anyone for that matter. There is also if they attempt a coup, aid an enemy country by any means, defect to another country, and collaborating to do any of those things with someone else.

There have been stories of tribes and things of that nature, but I have never seen any real evidence to their existence. Not a problem.

In small words, yes. The guard is typically what enforces those rules, but there is also someone specifically in charge of executions, as well.

...well, a certain group of people I know back home seem to think that enforcing justice means yelling a lot, appearing from high places, and striking down 'villainous fiends' with 'the hammer of justice'.

Thankfully they don't incorporate this into the majority of their actual related work.

[She hopes, anyway...]

Eh, I'm mostly giving some people I know a little grief. They'd probably want to be superheroes, if we had them.

Generally, the governing bodies make the laws. Kings, queens, and the like.

Cocoon really didn't have too much in the way of crime. We had relative luxury, I guess, compared to around here. Probably for the best, since our government was just one big pawn of the fal'Cie...

They're what make Cocoon livable. Eight million or more of them, all providing for humanity.

My world was more lenient towards vigilantes. They operated anonymously, but since most of them had good intentions, they were free to help police and the government whenever supervillains attacked and cities got chaotic.

As far as I know, only a few places're like that. Most worlds seem to hate superheroes. :|

Depends. The police are useless in some cities since they're so corrupt, so vigilantes've served their hometowns better in that regard.

Also superheroes're better-trained to deal with superpowered criminals and aliens and monsters than police. :/ Police're good for some things and heroes're good for others.

[He's not denying that police are helpful! He's just gotta defend his own form of justice.]
