[A few different things had been on Luna's mind since things had calmed down a bit, particularly allowing her mind to wander and think about what exactly was coming up in the next month or so. Curious things, wondering if it was even worth speaking about considering the connotations they held.]

Call us curious, Garden, but We were wondering what kind of celebrations that were held back in your own world that revolved around the end of October. If they were a positive celebration, a negative one, what sort of things were involved, and what kind of characters were included in it. [The ponies probably know exactly what she's getting at, but it was still worth asking.]

Secondly We are curious as to what kinds of rulers and/or deities you had back in your respective worlds. We are... not unused to the term and We wish to know the definitions others have used in such circumstances. It is no secret that We were a co-ruler of Equestria, nor is it a secret that We had, for some time, control over the change from sun to moon along with the stars in the sky. Thus We will also gladly answer any questions on that front as well as We have quite a bit of time on our hands.

Hallowe'en!

I never really took an interest in the origins, so I couldn't tell you. But these days, it's about having fun with a bunch of spooky stuff. People screw around, dress up as monsters, watch horror movies, go trick-or-treating, carve pumpkins, that kind of thing. Normally, I get involved with some of the kids' stuff - volunteer in the childrens' ward or something.

So you're looking at vampires, witches, wizards, ghouls, zombies, skeletons, and so on! Or some people dress as whatever comes to mind. Like angels.

[Yes, he missed the ghosts. For a reason.]

I was kind of hoping to get people to make an undead army or something this year, depending on how many worlds have Hallowe'en, and sell cakes and candy. Divide the profits for the rec room and whatever charity.

Can't really say in regards to celebrations - there might have been some in various places around my world, but I always traveled too much to stick around for anything that didn't involve the food...

As for the rest...

There were governmental rulers - kings and queens for countries as a whole, and various lesser ranks under them that took care of smaller parts of the countries. Towns and villages and the like usually had a governor, elder, or something in that vein.

Deities, well. We had gods and mazoku - or monsters. Sort of opposing forces in a way. The gods were generally the good guys and the monsters the bad, and they've been at odds since the beginning of time, with us regular folks getting caught in the crossfire from time to time.

There was a chief one on each side - the Flare Dragon Ceifeed for the gods, and the Dark Lord Ruby-Eye Shabranigdu for the monsters. They eventually broke each other apart far in the past, and these days, their subordinates keep at it. Or at least, what's left of them.

Well, I know for sure that one of the bigger countries, Seyruun, their royalty is a family thing, though it's not just the King or Queen - or in this case, the Prince - doing all the work.

Their leader, Prince Phil, he manages stuff within the kingdom. Issues with his subjects, and the like. I'm not really certain of the specifics, though - I never really stuck around unless there was trouble that needed taking care of. I know he has a council that works under him, and his daughter does a lot of diplomatic stuff - traveling around and representing them to resolve problems between nations.

Well... I figure our Gods would be immortal, if they hadn't gotten into fights with the Monsters.

Ceifeed and Shabranigdu are kinda like polar opposites - and they both fought for control of our world from the start, which eventually culminated in them being broken apart. Shabranigdu wished to destroy the world, and Ceifeed wished to protect it. Eventually, Ceifeed came out on top - sort of.

He broke Shabranigdu into seven parts, and sealed them in different places around our world - hoping that it would break down the Dark Lord's power over time. And with the last of his power, Ceifeed created four subordinates to watch over the world in his place. However, Shabranigdu had also created subordinates of his own - and the fragments were capable of being resurrected. Multiple times, even.

Eh, it's got its disadvantages, too - more people involved means more opinions involved, leading to long debates.

I guess it'd be better to say that they're immortal in the sense of being incredibly long-lived, compared to humans - but they can still be destroyed by each other, or other beings with enough power to do so.
dragonspooker: (This is my thinkyface.)

Yeah, that's the upside to it. It's kind of a double-edged sword, really. Unfortunately, nothing's perfect.

Kinda envy yours, then - the Monsters of my world are a huge pain in the butt that keep causing trouble, and seems every time I turn around, I'm getting yanked into fixing it one way or another...

Deities? About as many as you want.

Rulers are a different story. I couldn't tell you much, though - not exactly a politician.

I'll give you a hint: it's never them making any of the claims.

Well, for a start, it depends on what they're ruling. Countries? No two countries have completely identical governments. Governments themselves can't stay the same forever, not when they're run by people. And when you need to know who's really in charge or holds power in a particular place, it gets even worse - especially when people don't agree. But that kind of thing has to be complicated no matter what world you're in, I guess.
rewritethis: (blah blah blah)

[personal profile] rewritethis 2012-09-16 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Just don't say it too loudly.

Just one of you? So you get involved every time people disagree over anything? Somehow I doubt that. Unless you delegate it, which is pretty much how you'd build a government anyway.
rewritethis: (where's that again)

[personal profile] rewritethis 2012-09-16 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh yeah, come to think... Twilight had been totally clueless about religion too, hadn't she? Heh, ponies.]

Not really, no.

So who decides what qualifies as large scale? You?

Beats me. Go ask some of the people who think it is.

And THEY always agree on what's important? Sounds like you have it easy.

If that's true, you better be glad you don't have to deal with humans.

Just as an example: in the country I'm from, asking who's officially in charge, who tells the official leaders what to do and who's actually calling the shots would get you at least three different answers. But they aren't totally separate, either.
tricksterking: (That way stupid.)

Celebrations, couldn't tell you.

Rulers... well, most of 'em I knew were lazy. They generally told other people what to do and didn't bother doing anything themselves. Deities were about the same -- not really good for anything, in my opinion, but they were quick to jump to conclusions and punishments.

We celebrated Halloween back on Earth! :) it's a pretty fun holiday if you're a kid since everyone gives out candy to kids who ring their doorbells! The kids have to be in costume though - it wouldn't be fun if they weren't! Adults have costume parties around the same time, I think.

As for rulers? It depends. My country has a President that we elect every four years, but I know other countries like England have monarchs. I knew you were important in your world, but being in charge of the stars and moon? Wow. That's amazing!

A candy sacrifice? :O I've never heard of anything like that.

Kind of. The president shares duties with a legislative board called Congress, but most people think he's got more power.

I'd say it's spectacular. :| I know I can't do anything like that - and I'm sure most of the heroes back home couldn't either.

some people like being frightened. I can't explain why but it's fun sometimes! just as long as everyone knows it's not real :(

They're a group of people who write and enforce laws. The president signs them, but Congress makes them for the country.

Just means you're a pretty powerful unicorn, right?

Huh! In that case, I have no clue what that's all about. :(

You're right; it is easily exploited, but it seems to work for my country. It's been a while since I've taken US History, but I could try to walk you through it?

Oh wow! I'm sorry, I didn't know you were an alicorn!
