[It had taken some time, but after enough tinkering and watching others, Rin has finally figured out how this technology works. Which is a step in the right direction, right?]

Ugh. How do you people stand this place? It is just absolutely disgusting inside out, no one seems to take any kind of manners about this place and no one seems to believe you if you tell them you deserve some form of respect. I was AM still a princess, the next in line to become ruler of the Yellow Country and yet no one around here believes a word of it! I do not appreciate being talked down to as if I am some kind of child who has not a clue as to how the world works, I have studied and I have seen things that many have not seem. I am a capable ruler and am a capable member of the royal family, I do not appreciate being treated in any different manner!

And this... this gallivanting about the place is absolutely ridiculous and uncalled for, if one is here to learn, then they should do everything in their ability to get out of here as soon as possible with all the information necessary. Instead people are leeching off the system like common beggars and making the rest of us seem just as bad. Disgusting. Absolutely and undeniably disgusting.

Earn it or learn it, princess. I'm a King, but that doesn't mean anything to people around here unless you've got the skill and bite to back it up.

My point exactly!
tricksterking: (That way stupid.)

What's that saying you humans use? "Children should be seen, not heard?"

[Not that he really cares -- he's pretty much as old as his universe, so everyone is a kid to him -- he just likes trolling. Because that's totally proper Instructor behavior, right?]

[Hey, if you ask Ellyn, trolling is perfectly legitimate Instructor behavior. Not that anyone did.]

That's one. Or "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." That'd work, too.

[Not that Ellyn takes her own advice either, let's note.]

Eh, dunno about that one.

Been a while since someone made me this amused, though. I knew humans made themselves blind, but this badly?

Not all of us have blinders on. Just some, I guess.

A King of the Jungle. Humans title me "The Monkey King" and I ran a small tribe of monkeys more intelligent than most of the humans I've ever met. They could probably run most cities or kingdoms better than most humans I've met, too.

You're right, Princess, skill does come in different forms. And right now the only skill of yours I'm seeing is the skill to throw a tantrum when you don't get what you want. Did you even take a look at your schedule?

No, of course not, what am I thinking.

If you had, you would've noticed that getting your hands dirty isn't a "requirement." Sure, most of us like to, but there are specializations like International Business, Piloting, or Computer Science that don't require any actual fighting or getting dirt under those pretty little fingernails of yours. In this world, "Mercenary" is a catch-all for those of us at Garden because we all do mercenary work, but it's not just fighting.

You'd know that if you took even five minutes to ask around rather than just come here and start whining. Oh, but I'm sure you want servants to wait hand and foot? Sorry, things don't work that way here. You're responsible for yourself, no one is gonna pamper you.

Here's the thing of it, Princess. Everyone here is an Outsider and most of us are willing to take care of our own. But "our own" are ones who actually act like a decent person and try to adapt and work here. If you keep up like this, you're not only gonna be an outsider in this world, but you're gonna be an outsider here in Garden, too. And trust me, that isn't something you want to happen.

So I'll say it again: earn the respect you think you deserve or learn that respect for the people who do deserve it. If you don't, you're gonna be on your own.

And I don't think you've got the strength and skill -- of any form -- to do that.
tricksterking: (That's the best you can do?)

It took me forever to figure them out until I realized I was keywording for SUN WUKONG.

The mandatory weapon's class is in case something goes wrong. You don't get a guard here, princess, so if your mission goes bad you're on your own. You really wanna go out without knowing hot to defend yourself?

Don't worry about never touching it before -- the classes are pretty thorough, you'd pick it up in no time. If you're worried about stature, weight, or all that stuff, well, don't be. There's plenty of weapons designed for every shape and form -- you don't have to be like me to get through. You tried firearms? If you're small, they're pretty useful.

[He just has to stare at that second part for a bit because... he's laughing so hard. He's getting weird looks from the other students (though lap-topping in a tree gets enough weird looks as it is).]

Here's the fun thing, princess: none of us has any control over when we come or go. Time Compression doesn't like to share. Sure, your tantrum may have "due cause," but it makes you look like a spoiled brat regardless of whether or not it's justified. I'm not harping on you, I'm just stating a fact. If you were really as good a royal as you seem to think you are, you'd know that first impressions mean a lot to everyone. You can't always fix a bad first impression, princess, so you've already damaged your reputation pretty badly.

Oh, and don't worry about being replaced. Nice thing about Time Compression is that you go back where you came from. That is, you go back to the exact second you were taken from, so even if you spend four or five years here, it'll only be about four or five seconds in your real world when you go back there. Nice of it, huh?
