(fourteenth miracle) BBS + action

In my country, Japan, we used to have a star festival called Tanabata, celebrating the meeting of two stars (Vega and Altair) which represented the two lovers Orihime and Hikoboshi meeting for the one time they could every year. People write down wishes on pieces of paper and hang them on bamboo trees. It's said that if you burn them by a river after the night of Tanabata (July 7th), the wishes would come true.

Last year some other people and I helped Japan-sama write down people's wishes on paper and hang them on small trees. I'd like to do that again this year. If anyone would like to join me, I'll be in the quad with some pens and paper for you to write your wishes on, or if you're busy, you can post your wishes here and we can write them down for you.

[As promised (or perhaps you saw her before the BBS post), Mikuru is in the quad with pens, paper, and string for tying the wishes up. As most of her resources at the moment are going into homecoming, she doesn't have little trees this year and has strung up her wish on one of the quad's trees nearby instead.

[Her wish on the tree, written in Japanese, is to Stay safe, Itsuki-kun.]

Th-that was you the whole time, not...? [She indicates the doll.]

[Ooh-er. She looks sheepish.]

Yes. Tama's just a doll.

[And she'll make Tama wave just like so. See? Human-driven.]

Oh! [Well, now Mikuru feels dumb.] I-I'm so sorry...

[But. Let's try to salvage this.] Um, I'm Mikuru... If the doll's Tama, what's your name?

Oh, I'm Yunoha. Yunoha Suroor.

[seethrul]

But you needn't feel bad about it! I didn't really introduce myself when we spoke.

I really did think it was Tama talking and doing everything... Your, um...

[Oops. She doesn't know the English word for invisibility. Mikuru fishes her translator out of a pocket and hooks it on.]

Invisibility trick is really cool.

Oh...thank you. You don't find it scary?

[bunnypassingby]

[She shakes her head.] No, not at all. I kind of wish I could do that.

[seethrul]

[That's...the oddest thing she's heard so far.]

Why?

It seems like it could come in really useful!

[seethrul]

—oh.

[There's a pause, followed by a shy laugh. Someone thought that Mikuru wanted to be scared, clearly.]

It's useful once in a while. But I don't think the people here like it that much.

[bunnypassingby]

Some people here don't like us that much. [A brief frown.] But there are more at least here in Garden who'd be okay with it - one of the instructors can do something similar.

[seethrul]

I didn't know that.

[Her tone's hushed, amazed. She'd heard of similar Element powers back home but she'd never seen any before.]

Do you know which one?

[bunnypassingby]

Espio the Chameleon. He's a purple lizard about this [she puts up her hand, not very high] tall; he teaches Martial Arts. [She smiles.] He's pretty proud of it.

[seethrul]

[A lizard, she says.

...well, if a world could get used to her disappearing and appearing like no one's business who's to say anything about a lizard with invisibility powers?]

Oh, I think I remember him. [She'd spent so much time attending classes for the past week to decide on which ones to take this semester and maybe, just maybe, she recalls him. Maybe.] He doesn't walk around invisible too, does he?

[bunnypassingby]

Not usually... That I know of, anyway. [He walks noisily. Mikuru would probably be able to tell.]

[seethrul]

[So she's the only one who's weird like this...

She laughs a little nervously.]

I-I see.

In any case, I wouldn't mind keeping you company when you burn the wishes. If that's still okay with you.

[She nods.] It's definitely okay!
