Look at you, all special and powerful and even magical, some of you, and what's Garden got to show for it? Not a whole lot! This time compression business might like to try to attract all the weird people, but you're all rather insistent on being this world's standard of normal. Which, you know, isn't actually all that normal.

But.

Why do your special, off-worldy, other universe completely different laws of physics powers still even work here, because that shouldn't happen. If it's impossible here, it should really stay impossible here, unless NO! Ignore everything I just said! We already know that time and space is all squished and useless! Let's not get on the subject of realities slipping in and out of each other. Just don't be surprised if you go home and suddenly there's GFs.

What I was trying to say is that you lot need to raise awareness, and what I want to know is about your powers, and more importantly, how and why they work where you're from. Because it can't be a "they just do."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but we have magic ponies in this school. And, true, I suppose they don't look like monsters, but I'm pretty sure I've also seen a bipedal bulldog walking around. And a lizard. Oh, and trolls, we can't forget those!

Given that I've seen all these as ponies and trolls and a bulldog and a lizard, I don't really think they're able to disguise themselves so easily. Nor should they be expected to.

Perhaps it would be more prudent to be direct and simply state your question.

In the previous era I was summoned into, the situation was somewhat similar; magic is, in the world as it exists in that time, largely secret. Any magical phenomenon which causes a disturbance is obfuscated with mundane explanation.

For those such as myself, our very existences conflict with the natural laws of the physical plane, and sustaining ourselves with a physical medium is necessary. I remain uncertain how I am able to sustain my physical form in this world, but testing such remains dangerous to those within this Academy.

As to the nature of our abilities, it varies greatly both in nature, effect, and mechanics. It will take a great deal of time to explain.

Right, so... no physical form. How do you gain one? Do you need to possess people, normally?

I have plenty of time if you want to describe them to me, I just find it all really interesting.

I wouldn't really call it a power or 'special' because everyone does it where I'm from, but I've noticed that people here don't really sing. Like, about their feelings, and not planned or a song they knew already. And I only really hear music here if someone's playing it. It's weird!

Really, now? That's rather interesting, actually. I've done a lot of travelling, and outside of musicals and cartoons I don't often encounter whole communities prone to spontaneously go into new, original song.

And why exactly should we lord ourselves over the people of this planet exactly? This is their planet, and we're the ones intruding. If you actually bothered to get to know some of them like I have you'd know they're terrified of us. So yes, brilliant idea, let's terrify them some more.

And, obviously, hiding absolutely everything that makes us different and unique isn't at all going to give them room for conjecture and making stuff up and villifying people, potentially leading to mobs and riots and people actually getting killed for special abilities they don't even have, all because they had the misfortune of getting caught up in a "spell" that originated in this world. People are scared because they don't understand, and quite critically, what a fair few don't understand is that we're also people, and the things that are so strange and terrifying about us are, when you really look into it, aren't really all that terrifying. Doesn't help, obviously, that these skills are being actively hidden from them.

You have your special talents through training and hard work? Good for you. Perfectly unterrifying. Nothing wrong with letting the natives know, but several probably already decided that you're an evil witch without even having met you.

Of course there's a big difference between someone mildly uncomfortable around something unfamiliar but accepts that it's just the way it is and tries to just go along with it, and, well, say for example, someone that happens to be a little too proactive in dealing with what they see as problems, and might ever so slightly attack us - or, worse, someone in power that's just that proactive, but you get the general idea.

I have an ability called Digisoul, or Digimon Natural Ability (DNA) in America. [Too meta? Well, Touma actually went to the US in canon...] It's the ability to manifest one's emotions as an energy aura, which can be sent outside of yourself to evolve your digimon partner, add extra force to a physical attack, as an energy blast or a shield for energy-based attacks, or, if one aims it correctly, as wings.

Digisoul seems limited to those who have had significant exposure to a digimon, whether or not the digimon's one you've bonded with, or to the digital world; my father and sister do not have partners themselves but have been able to manifest digisoul. While I've been able to use digisoul here, I've yet to see it from people who have had contact with Gaomon, and given this world's technology level I can't test my theory about exposure to the digital world.
