Not the Best Young Flyer for Nothing [bbs&action]

[ACTION!]

[The skies over Dollet are blue, save for several clusters of clouds that Rainbow had quite deliberately left behind when she'd snuck out earlier this morning to clear them out and set the weather. Beyond that, it's a gorgeous day.]

[She'd also set up a sign that told people where to stand to watch the demonstration. All these buildings made it a tricky prospect, but she'd counted for them when she worked this up.]

[As the sun reaches its zenith and the hour of noon comes upon them, there's no sign of the demonstration though. From behind a building, Rainbow's been watching the crowd gather with excited glee. She gives it a minute to build suspense, then takes off--]

[The first the audience sees of her is a rainbow streak slashing through the skies above them like a comet, air roaring as it races over her body and through the feathers of her wings. Rainbow drops into a plunge, diving down to the street below and ahead of the audience area at a speed that surely is going to flatten her on the pavement -- but it doesn't. She pulls out of the dive at the last second and into the Super-Speed Strut, racing along the ground with a casual smile as if she's just out for a stroll in the park. Only her beating wings and the thunder of air betray the effort she's putting out as she rockets straight through the crowd, then blasts back into the air with such force that the road actually cracks beneath her from where she lifts off.]

[Into the sky again, and this time headed for the largest of the clouds, which she races around with rainbow contrail behind, quick hoofwork and air pressure sculpting and shaping it until it resembles a fearsome dragon, jaws dropped and wings spread, ready to pounce. Rainbow ducks behind it and whacks it with her forehooves, sending it shooting at the other cluster of clouds she'd left behind. Then she races past it, whirling around the second cloud until it resembles a pony, legs thrust back in the middle of a powerful kick -- and a second later, the dragon-cloud slams face-first into those raised rear hooves and dissipates.]

[She draws herself up proudly, savoring the moment, then descends again, weaving and turning just to show off her casual moves. Give the audience a breather, let them build up some anticipation, because compared to what's coming, most of them can only imagine...]

[Again, Rainbow pulls out of her dive, this time swooping over the cloud, forelegs extended and wings laboring as she races off down the street, accelerating with all her might as she reaches the edge of town. Just over the ocean, she pulls up sharply, then pours on the speed as she rockets towards the sky--]

[With an immense rumbling boom, brilliant, shining waves of rainbow light burst out from her, rolling over Dollet in a glorious display of color. In its wake, the pony flies a great arc over the town in no time at all. It might be high noon, and a near-cloudless sky on a beautiful day, but Dollet now has a shining, glittering rainbow arching through the skies above it.]

[From the minute Twilight saw that BBS post, she knew that this was a terrible idea.

Flaunting herself like this might win her a few fans, but there would be far too much danger to her.

Not thinking that that last part would be true for herself, too, she'd tried to find Rainbow Dash before the performance.

Naturally, she was too late. Twilight stops just outside the city, staring at the sky, hoping that maybe Rainbow'd get out of this without too much trouble...]

[A grinning pegasus swoops down to the ground, landing near her friend.]

I think that was one of my better ones, personally. [And so modest.]

That may be true, but do you realize how much danger you just put yourself in?!

From what? I feel fine. Barely even broke a sweat?

[She spreads a wing to look back at it. Did she lose some feathers or something?]

[ Feferi had come out when she'd seen the message, quite curious about just what all a flying demonstration was. She's not exactly a fan of being out in all this sun, even if it isn't quite so harsh as the one on her home world, but it turns out to be worth it.

Magical flying hoofbeasts were awesome. ]

Holy mackerel! That's amazing!

[As if sensing praise, Rainbow swoops back in to land amongst the audience, with a casual wave around.]

Not my best work, but I can't show it ALL off in the first performance, right?

No way, that was betta than anything I've ever seen!

[ Feferi rushes to gush at Rainbow Dash, glubbing excitedly. ]

Glub glub glub! Are you going to do more?

Of course I am! Flying like that is what Rainbow Dash does best!

[Her ego is entirely too stroked, if she's starting to refer to herself in the third person.]

And next time I'll have some new material. That was stuff I can do easy.

[For a moment or two is took Luna time to register what she was reading, looking at her list for a moment to see who it was. And, well, she wasn't terribly pleased when she saw the name. And knew exactly what was going to happen.

An annoyed sigh slipped past the elder pony's lips as she had made her way out to the spot indicated, watching the people mulling about in wait. Luna knew perfectly well that one wasn't to show off their abilities like this, especially not a place that wasn't used to their types wandering about and doing these things. Balamb was a bit different, she'd sort of worked on that part herself, but Dollet...? It concerned her.

Once the show was over she was quick to get into the air, resorting to using her booming voice to get her point across. As well as being kind enough to get a particularly loud thunder boom with accompanying lightning to go with it.]

"Rainbow Dash get over here this instant."

[An oblivious and self-satisfied Rainbow Dash swoops up, pulling herself up proudly with a hoof to her chest.]

Pretty awesome, huh?

[Oh this filly was going to give her fits, wasn't she? Ugh. The things that still needed to be learned.

Her expression of annoyance and anger is still very much there and there's probably a good static feeling about her.]

You are a fool for doing such a thing, they do not take kindly to our types around here and blatantly showing off is just asking for trouble. It may be fine in the cities near us, but that is only because of the work that has gone into it. They know not of our kind here and are not friendly.

[Rainbow Dash stares in shock and horror for a moment, before completely forgetting who she's arguing with and jabbing a hood at the lingering remnants of the rainboom.]

Are you kidding?! What kind of so-called evil creature does a Sonic Rainboom and paints their cities with amazing colors?! Everyone likes rainbows! I'm showing them how AWESOME I am, not how evil!

[Saber hadn't seen the BBS post, so she was hardly expecting to see the sight that she did. The petite blonde stops her measured pace in mid-stride, pausing to observe the rainbow disk that now graced the skies. It was beautiful, she had to admit.]

[Not much longer, the pegasus responsible trots back up, looking mighty pleased with herself.]

...Performance? Slightly puzzled expression] I had wondered if that was some sort of natural phenomenon I had not witnessed previously.

"Phenomenon"? Good choice of words, it totally suits me. And it does come naturally... though a lot of practice helps.

[She kind of sounds like she's delivering a public service announcement. Work hard and stay in school, kids!]

[ Danny was out there in his ghost form floating and watching Rainbow Dash's performance. Might as well, since he did see Rainbow Dash fly around before and needless to say that the speed that the pegasus can go was pretty impressive.

Once she was done with her performance he was well... in awe to say the least. That was even faster than he saw her fly before and the rainbow... Simply put... ]

That. Was. Awesome!

[On her way back to bask in the crowd's inevitable appreciation, awe, and nigh-unto-worship, she comes to a stop in midair to do that with his too!]

What, those old tricks?

[The falsest modest ever...]</small.

[ Danny blinks. That was an old trick? ]

You're kidding, right? How long have you been doing that trick?

[Sharpay also missed the BBS notice, but the crowd gets her attention as she strolls down into the main township from a resort. The murmurs indicate what they're here for, and she raises an eyebrow, because this seems like a really dumb move--

[But she gets distracted from the lecture she was building up to by the pretty. Oooooh, pretty. She applauds the rainbow, impressed despite herself.]

[Detecting appreciation of her awesomeness with uncanny accuracy, Rainbow drops down out of the sky, a hoof on her chest.]

Have you ever considered doing the - the sound, the clouds, the rainbows - for other purposes?

[No, of course Sharpay's not contemplating hitting Rainbow up for special effects for end of quarter drama shows.]

[Dolphin had rushed outside when she saw the message on the communications system. She thought back to her first conversation with Rainbow Dash and remembered the promise of an amazing event, her steps more rushed. Her feet ache by the time she reaches the area with the best view of the show, but it's well worth it the sores.

As Rainbow finishes the performance, she loudly applauds with the rest of the crowd, cheering and hollering congratulations.]

[The wait for Rainbow to rejoin her adoring public is not long. She drops out of the sky, head back and a hoof on her chest, looking glorious.]

[Dolphin has to scoot past a couple rambunctious kids, but she makes it over to where Rainbow Dash preens under the crowd's praise. She claps in applause.]
