The Gossip Around Garden VI

Greetings Balamb Garden,

It seems that our lovely school has made a severe splash! And what better way to dish out the goods with a prized column from yours truly! Let the games truly begin!

If you don't know about a recent marriage that occurred here, then you're sleeping under a rock! But what's this?! Is Instructor Snow Villers chatting with the bride to be? Or is she an evil twin sister out to ruin Grell's life?! Either way, both redheads have a keen eye for hunks! Side note: Snow is unattached!!

And finally Espio is wearing pants! But how long will that streaker keep them on?!

Moving on to the Holi events, there is a plethora of juicy details! Is Kate Bishop really hitting on Instructor Shadow?! With that slingshot of hers, she's certainly allowed to aim high! Shadow may as well take on the opportunity, since Claire Farron is having secret rendezvous with Cid Raines! What a sordid web!

An odd pairing of a pastel pony named Rainbow Dash (that's really her name!) and a vertically challenged cadet of Edward Elric seems to have cropped up. The only thing they have in common is their propensity for stubbornness! But anything can happen here, all thanks to Time Compression! We're all rooting for you both! Edward better keep his eye on the skies, and not on Instructor Pinkie Pie! Instructor Champloo will easily stir-fry that little rump to perfection!

And when will Gakupo make the moves on the head of the Garden Festival Committee?! Mikuru is ripe for the taking and eager for all the things he encompasses! He'd better hurry before Instructor Snow gets involved with yet another underaged girl!

Let's all take a few steps back and observe that hot and sticky night of that bonfire that lit a fire in the pits of our bellies! Our lovely resident Queen of Hair, Rapunzel, was roasting marshmallows with Cissie King-Jones! The sticky goo of their treat is just a symbolization of what was in store later on that evening! Would Eugene mind a threesome?!

Instructor Tom strummed up a few chords with Gakupo, and they seem to make a wonderful melody! Will the screech of Instructor Sharpay Evans throw them off key?! Someone get her a tuning fork!

In our next issue, we'll try to cover those very fond couples, and some new ones! Such as the game of hard to get between Rose Lalonde and Kanaya Maryam. Love's better when one has to earn it!

he's just. trying to get this all off of his chest because it's really served to complicate and intensify whatever it is he feels towards her.]

I had rather assumed that it was an effort that we were mutually undertaking in our corresponding sessions.

[this entire conversation hurts. it pains him to have, and he's trying not to show it. content and its basis aside, he has, as usual, failed in attempting to get across his intended message for an interpersonal matter and is proceeding to make something of an ass of himself while having apparently put Rose off.]

It still doesn't require any additional coaxing from your side. I'm perfectly comfortable with what I have to do.

[she's a little irked, but honestly she's not sure how much of it is genuine and how much is deflection. at this point she's not even sure she cares to separate the two of them]

[there's a long pause. one second. two. three. when he speaks at last it's quiet, resigned, almost tired, with just a touch of desperation. he absolutely refuses to look at her, but body language speaks volumes.] ... I simply wish to be certain, Rose.

[he can't see it, obviously, but for a moment her expression softens just a tick. she doesn't want to push him on this, not really.]

There's nothing to worry about from my end. I promise.

[it isn't much--it's the issue of a world away from his, and his own session's concerns are far more pressing to him--but it's still a release of some of the pressure he's been feeling.

there is, for a moment, the very real realization that he wants nothing like what he has experienced to happen to any iteration of himself or his friends yet again--particularly, for the prior incarnation, the girl in front of him. the game will be broken, and one way or another they will all come out of it having yanked victory from the jaws of defeat.

he's performing the action before he's even really cognizant of the movement or any specific desire to do it--it feels more like a sum of the entire situation--but he moves in, starting a firm kiss. no alcohol, no vitriol being traded back and forth, no petty disputes.]

[she freezes in place, eyes wide open at the wholly unexpected move. this is quite different from their usual fare, and Rose isn't quite certain what to do about it. implications of various actions flit through her head as she tries to remain calm and collected and weigh everything with equal consideration.

and then she relaxes in one fluid motion and returns the kiss tentatively. fuck the gossip column, she does what she wants.]

[a hand goes up to her face to steady things. he doesn't care about the gossip column or any of the fallout from this anymore--whatever this is.

he steps a little bit closer to close some of that distance. this is a valve releasing pressure on tension and hormones and feelings that have been mounting for the better part of a year, damn it. he's doing his damnedest.]

[she's matching him with equal fervor, because whatever she may say to the contrary this...thing has been bubbling under the surface and driving her crazy for some time now. she knows that to keep it detached and explainable she needs to put some sort of passive-aggressive spin onto it, turn it into a competition of sorts.

but as Rose loops her arms around his neck, she realizes that for once she doesn't want to do that. for once she'd just like to kiss him.]

[he's already given up on trying to justify this instance with some competitive handwave, really. it doesn't help that his motivation for doing this was entirely without aggression, and that much was obvious. so.]

[she supposes that they could just agree to act as if it never happened afterward. much easier than trying to fumble around for a reason.]

[that's an option to consider, but he's not so sure that he wants to go for it.]

[what so you actually want to talk about it. i mean really.]

[he doesn't know ok.]

[there aren't exactly other options in between those two. he's going to have to make up his mind eventually or she'll just do whatever the hell she wants.]
