is it just me or are they keeping our stuff for longer than usual?? i've got my smartphone so i'm okay but i'm still pretty darn sure that a week is way too long to handle a "standard maintenance and repair" operation.

if a CS major knew why it takes so long, an explanation would be schway. :|

also a reminder: if i see you doing weird slag, i'm giving you detention. i don't know why people seem to forget this part, but we are a school for mercenaries-in-training. Seriously stop being zifts and just... i don't know, read comic books or something.

The Sky Pirates of Aselia is currently having a crossover with the Sea Pirates of Aqualin. And it's more than kinda schway. It's worth your time more than any dumb slag with alarm clocks. 8|||

[If anyone wants to find him at the computer terminals, Damian's still there longer than usual; he's also been lurking around the Computer Science classrooms to see if he can gain any more information.

Either way, he's a man on a mission, and that mission isn't exactly for noble intentions.]

You know, I still can't believe they did that.

What is the point of crossing over those two? Both comics have practically identical casts, so half the crossover is basically shoving them together and going oh, tee-hee, look at how similar they are! Best friends!

AND they're not even set in the same universe to begin with! And - take it from someone who actually does hop dimensions - the excuse the writer came up with is a complete asspull. They need to sack him and bring back the guy who did SPoA #56. The whole series has gone downhill since he left, and it's not like he's even been gone that long - it's so bad, I only pick it up for the cover art now.

[I have no idea if this is okay. I'm assuming those are made up for FF8-land comics ._.]

I don't like that artist much. The proportions are off and change practically every panel - consistency is not that girl's forte. The "pretty" that you're seeing is entirely the colourist's work.

Look, the two angels and the sea people are basically counterparts of each other - they have no real personality to speak of! In each comic, one's loud and quirky, and the other's meek and quiet, and those are their only defining features. They're only there for the sake of proving that one takes place in the sky, and one takes place in the sea!

Okay, I'll give you that the kid looked like he was going to have a personality at first, but it clearly didn't work out.

And yeah, how did they get to the Sky Pirate dimension in the first place, huh? They decided they wanted something, and just got there with some device that had no good reason to exist in their world - their technology is not on that level, they make a point of their smart guy not being that smart, and we had no precedent to show us that dimensional travel was even possible! Even bringing in some magic portal would be more convincing.

It's just typical of that writer - every time he has a problem that needs solving, he takes the easiest solution without even thinking how it works in the setting. I'm sure he's written this story for a different comic entirely, and just shoehorned familiar characters in because he couldn't get it published.

Do share the comics, please? I haven't read that issue.

And it's taking so long because my wife is the one fixing them and I'm determined to keep her distracted. [Lying but whatever, it's believable.]

Screw you. I'm not the one who started it.

[...He is totally going to be keeping an eye out for those comic books. But NO ONE WILL EVER KNOW.]

Considering that they've pressganged an entire major group into handling the influx of computers I do believe it's safe to say that at minimum something sketchy is occurring. It's enough to make one grateful for the habit of using a laptop from one's original universe almost to exclusion. I shudder to think what morally ambiguous activities are occurring to those machines.

On the topic of law-abiding entertainment, however, I'm afraid that I can't quite get behind the endorsement of comic books as a healthy alternative. They're simply not very mentally stimulating; I'd personally recommend an independent fantasy anthology that puts out some very interesting pieces instead.

Just hypothetically, what would you get for breaking into someone's room while they were out? [Because, well, appeals to authority? Not his kind of thing. If he's going to make one, it better be worth it.]

If you're going to create a comic with an ensemble cast, you need to know how to write an ensemble cast. You have the main core group, and that main core group needs to stand out!

And that kid? He's a cheap plot device, not a character. He's so flat it's painful to read.

Going by that writer's previous work in White Sorcerer, I wouldn't get your hopes up. He did one arc in that comic - ONE ARC! - and it was so bad the comic died. It had such a strong start, too!

I'd think that would be even more worrisome - do you really want incapable personnel attempting to conduct some advanced trick with little to no ability to pull it off?

I've yet to find one that can hold my interest for more than a few pages. And that's correct. Thankfully they're included in the new materials brought in, otherwise I'd have been forced to write a strongly worded letter of protest to the staff.

Morally ambiguous? What kind of things could you do to a bunch of computers like that?

Also, which fantasy anthology?
