And gruff. Welcome back your new Criminal Justice, and International Law Instructor. Feel free to be perturbed by how he's a human-sized dog doing normal people things.

B) Alternately see him in the hallways catching a smoke between classes and yelling at you to get to your god damn classes already. Or you could snark back at him about smoking cigars on campus. Maybe his bark is worse than his bite. Maybe.

It's nice to see more diversity around here even if it means the Time Compression continues merrily on. Where are all you lot from anyway? What was the police force like there?

Police. [Though given the supervillains... it was kind of military. It's confusing.]

We had masked crimefighters as well as the usual police force in my world.

So did we. They're annoying.

Though the P.I. punks were just as annoying for awhile.

They can do things that state or national laws tie your hands from doing.

And that's a good thing how?

Some laws are ridiculously redundant or cover cities from an increasingly litigious country. They can go in and stop someone while the police are still waiting for a search warrant.

Warrants exist for a reason. So that overzealous idiots don't harass the innocent.

And when you're all waiting for someone above you to make a call, the crime fighters are the ones actually saving a hostage from a psychopath.

That isn't to say they're not without faults as well. Some of them are amateurs and shouldn't be allowed to roam free.

At least we can both agree about the last part.

The sheer amount of incompetence some of these so called "heroes" have is astounding.

Yes, you certainly have me there. They have their moments, but there's a reason professionals have training.

You said your world stopped having heroes? Did they die from their own stupidity?

[cigardog]

We still have some. Vigilante-ism isn't against the law, but there's a strict, "You break it; you buy it," rule, and so most of the ones with good sense try to take their fights out of the city. Most.

And the ones that are left?

Then they better make sure they cover damages. Most people got fed up with them though, so it's generally left to the police seeing as we do have the capacity to handle these things.

Tt. And what do you do here? I sincerely doubt they'll allow an off-worlder into the police force.

Correct. So I'm teaching International Law and Criminal Justice.
