2nd Refrain [Action] (Open to 4th-Wallers Too! Maybe They Wandered in. :O)

Wednesday - CBT 101 (all sections), Thursday - COD 101 (all sections)

[A middle-aged woman in a rather Earth-medieval type dress sashays into the classroom at precisely the class's beginning time, down to the second. She takes up position at the head of the class and spreads her arms dramatically.]

Good morning, students~! You may be wondering where your regular instructor is. She's right here~~.

Yes! Up until now, you have been dealing with a substitute. But don't worry, I'm sure we'll all get along splendidly~. I am Mother Gothel--and, as I have been asked about this quite recently: no, I'm not actually named "mother", nor are you required to call me that~. I just believe that--as this is often among the first classes new cadets take--I ought to help ease the transition between civilian and Garden life~. As a SeeD in training, the Garden will become another family to you. Perhaps a bit harsher than your previous one, perhaps not~... Remember, the attitude I try to instill in you is as important as what's written in the syllabus~.

I do apologize for not being with you from the beginning, but alas!

I'm afraid instructors are still SeeDs, and have other duties as well.

I trust that all of you are up to date on the reading assignments~?

[When replying, please put the class and time-period in the subject? 4th-Wallers, please do pick a class, though a specific time isn't necessary. Threadjacking encouraged between classmates! [There's an out-of-place red dinosaur, roughly the height of an adult human, sitting on the floor towards the back of the room. He originally came in here because he saw a bunch of people walk inside and was curious, but it looks like they're just here for a class - and even Guilmon knows that class means, unfortunately, no playtime. Now he's not entirely sure if he's allowed to just go back out again, so he's hanging around until either it finishes or somebody tells him to go away.

The lady in the front is the teacher, right? That means she's supposed to answer questions if people have any, doesn't it? Guilmon raises a claw.] I have a question! What's a reading assignment?

We're how far into the quarter?

What exactly has been going on in here before I returned?

[Uh oh, she doesn't look happy. Guilmon's ears droop.] Did I say something wrong?

No, dear, of course not~.

I simply find it troubling that we're this far into the quarter, and it's only now becoming apparent that you haven't been doing the assignments.

...Quar-ter? [He knows what a quarter is - it's like if you split a piece of bread into four equal pieces so you can share it out - but he doesn't see any bread around here. It's so confusing!]

...You're an escapee from Remedial English, aren't you.

But, but I didn't escape from anywhere except Takato! I just wanted to see what was in this room... Was that bad?

Ta... ka-to...?

...Who are you.

[Awesome, a question he can answer! He immediately perks up.] I'm Guilmon! And you're Gothel, right?

Er... right...

[She's just going to check her student roster now.]

...

You're not in this class, dear~.

[Guilmon tilts his head to one side.] But I'm sitting right here...

You're not very bright, are you, dear~?

I meant that you didn't sign up for it~. You're not a member of the class~.

Is this your first day here~~?

Yeah! I just got here with Takato and went exploring, but I didn't know this was a classroom. [Though it does feel like this first day has been super super long, for some reason...] I don't think Digimon are supposed to go to classes, so I dunno what to do.

[Rikku is at a loss for words at once- this was the teacher? And she tried to do the assignments, really, it was just so hard reading the language here.

Now she's all nervous.]

[Ariel enters the class room and spots an empty seat beside Rikku. She heads on over and looks at the other girl, head tilted.]

Excuse me? May I sit here, please?

[She smiles in a friendly manner and gestures to the free seat.]

[Huh? Rikku snaps out of her slightly panicky thoughts and looks up.]

Oh, sure! I'm Rikku.

[And Gothel notices the late arrival. It's that sweet young girl from the cafeteria! How wonderful.]

Ariel~! How kind of you to join us this morning~.

[Ariel smiles gratefully to Rikku and slides in to the free seat.]

Nice to meet you. [She lowers her voice when she notices Gothel.] I'm Ariel~

[Too late, Gothel's noticed her late entrance. She smiles sheepishly at the teacher and dips her head.]

Sorry I'm late, I.. I got lost..again..

[Wuh oh, teacher attention, not good.]

We'll be okay, Mother Gothel, promise! Ariel can come with me next time..?

[Rikku gives Gothel one of her innocent grins. Good thing she's had practice at this.]

Oh dear~. Is lateness a chronic problem for you, Ariel~?

[And now Rikku has her attention too. Don't worry, Rikku, Gothel's likewise had prac--oh wait that's a bad thing.]

[She smiles.] Oh~? Are you two a team now~? How lovely. It always does me good to see cadets standing by one another. Which one are you again, Miss...? [She picks up from her desk some papers (they're actually the roll) and a pen.]

[Ariel smiles gratefully to Rikku and nods in agreement to the blonde's words. When Gothel asks her about lateness, however, her smile disappears and she chews on her bottom lip in thought.]

I..[She pauses and realises that admitting she has a tardiness problem isn't the best idea, given her prior experience with Gothel.] I won't be late again! I promise!

Rikku. [Resigned, she bit her lip a little, waiting to see what would happen next. Well, it could be worse.

What did Gothel mean by 'team'?]

That's very good to hear, Ariel~.

Rikku~. [She writes something on the roll.] Already catching on to the family aspect of training is excellent~! I will, of course, honor your wishes and grade the two of you as a single unit from now on.

I do hope both of you are good students~... I'd hate to have to fail both of you for one's actions...

...Just kidding, don't look so serious~! I'm sure you're both wonderful students and being a team won't be at all challenging~.

[Ariel tilts her head, listening to Gothel.]

You don't have to.. [She laughed a little nervously when Gothel changed tact, a slightly uncomfortable look on her face.]

We'll be fine, Mother Gothel! We won't let you down, huh, Rikku?

[Oh, that wasn't so bad. Rikku could deal with this!]

Right! [She makes a victory sign, full of confidence.] We'll be great students!

Good. I'll be watching you~~. [She jots a couple more notes on the roll.]

Well then, let's continue on with today's topics, shall we~? [She brings up a subject from the texts and then asks a cadet at random to explain it briefly in simpler terms. She will continue this way unless sidetracked again--be it an interruption, a wrong answer, etc.]

[Ariel nods in agreement and carefully pulls out her text books and stationary, attempting to look organised and ready to learn. After a few minutes of listening, she leans over to Rikku slightly and smiles.]

She's pretty strict, huh? [Ariel whispers to Rikku, carefully watching Gothel in case the teacher picks up on her whispering.]

[Rikku glances around before answering her in the same whisper tone, making noises with her own paper to cover it.]

They're all pretty strict here... but it won't be so bad.

[Ariel nods, not taking her eyes off Gothel, attempting to look as if she's listening closely.]

I hope so.. I'm not much of a fan of strict people...

[Understatement of the YEAR, Ariel!]

Me either, but now that we're a team they'll never know what hit 'em.

[Rikku was grinning a bit, and nudged Ariel in the side. Surreptitiously of course.]

That sounds like a plan~

[She returned the nudge, laughing as quietely as possible. It seemed like Rikku was similar to her. Perhaps they could have some fun together.]

I have no idea what's going on, do you?

[It's not that Ariel's stupid, it's just that she's in completely unfamiliar territory. She sighs a little and flips through her text book trying to follow what Gothel is saying.]

[Rikku shook her head. She had no idea either, even though she'd tried to prepare for the class.]

No idea, but... let's survive Mother Morbid first and try it again later.

[Of course, she's trying to take notes- in Al Bhed.]
