[Action] In the dark of the night

[Thanks to all the free time lately, Artemis has been feeling more than a little antsy. Which is why after a day or so to figure out the logistics Artemis has donned her hero uniform and is currently making use of the training center after curfew for a little exercise. ]

[Standard target practice is child's play for someone with her training, so she's got targets scattered over the entire training center. This way the flora and fauna of the center can work as obstacles she has to work her way around. It's brilliant really even if it's not entirely as strenuous as she might have liked. There honestly aren't enough T-rexaur's to actually make it as dangerous as she'd like which probably says something about the young archer's state of mind.]

[Anyone who happens to stumble upon the training center will probably notice the constant cowled hero in green making her way everywhere using the trees and fences to maneuver around all while displaying perfect archery skills. Other capes and other characters in general are more than welcome to stare/mock/whatever at Artemis at their own risk naturally. She is obviously armed after all.]

[The Training Center wasn't exactly the place Robin wanted to be at the moment, but he'd already made his rounds around the rest of Garden... and he couldn't patrol the area twice, so trudging off to the Center it was.

He'd been warned against going, considering there was some "murdercat" on the loose, but he really didn't care for those excuses.

It takes him a moment, but when he notices Artemis, he can't help scowling and pulling out his escrima sticks.] You're not trying to get yourself killed, are you?

[She'd forgotten all about that bit where the Training Center was supposed to be closed. She'd probably been too busy paying attention to things that weren't the announcement at the time.]

[Her first instinct is to turn towards the noise, bow still primed and ready. Of course when she finally registers what she's seeing, she rolls her eyes.]

Think you'd know better than sneaking up on an archer if you're wearing a get up like that.

[Referring to the fact that as a Robin he should know better than to sneak up on an Arrow.]

Get myself killed? Like anything in here can do that, sure. Right.

[Robin snorts, folding his arms as he jerks his head towards the T-Rexaurs.]

If you're not careful, some T-Rexaur'd love to make short work of you. [It's made short work of him before - which says more about his fighting style than anything - but Robin knows better than to say so out loud.]

So who're you supposed to be anyways? Arrowette? [... So sue him, she's the only kid Arrow he knows of in his world.]

Good thing I'm always careful then.

[Not that she's really tangled with a T-Rexaur before but that's not the point. As an arrow it's her belief she can tangle with anything just fine... as long as it's from a distance.]

It's Artemis. I'm not Ci-Arrowette. [She's so used to Cissie out of costume that the idea of her actual moniker is kind of weird somehow. Though uh... using her first name as her call sign was probably really dumb, but it was too late to change it now.]

Like the Greek goddess... [He shrugs, but doesn't question it much beyond that.]

Guess that makes sense, considering all you Arrows're female anyhow. [This is a REALLY good time to mention that Lian is his world's Green Arrow.]

Something like that. [Yeah let's keep her id a secret, it works for her.]

All us Arrow's are what? [Has this Robin lost it?] I'm the only girl unless you count Black Canary. Green Arrow and Red Arrow are both guys.

[Oh wait. Too many Robins. Right.]

Guess things are just different where you're from.

Green Arrow's a girl. Arrowette's a girl. Black Canary's a girl---and Red Arrow's retired, so he doesn't count anymore.

So yeah... I guess they are.

[Fighting monsters hadn't been on Tom's priority list for weeks, but a talk with Sharpay convinced him to give it another go. He'd just finished his training rounds when he notices Artemis.

... Huh. Her costume even looks more like Speedy's than the Tigress he'd fought many times before.

He watches her for a moment, his tail thumping against the ground, before he goes ahead and calls:] Looks like you need more of a challenge.

I always need more of a challenge.

[She smirks, relaxing her bow as she turns to talk to him.]

[Okay... yeah that werepanther thing? Totally weird, but she takes to it well enough. Her eyes might only betray her surprise for a few seconds before she manages to cover it up.]

Not too easy to find though.

[werepanther]

[He catches it, if only for a moment, before relaxing his stance and motioning towards an empty area in the Center.]

Then you want a sparring match? One-on-one close range combat?

[crockshot]

[Still more things to add to the "Why this Artemis is clearly not the one he knows" at least. Not that he needs anymore by now.]

Sure, be a good bridge between your class and intermediate martial arts.

[She's okay at close range combat, but she's got a ways to go compared to some of her teammates so she's getting in all the training she can while she can.]

Awesome. I'm not sure what they're teaching in Intermediate, but I took it a while back so I think I could help there too.

[He's just too much of a pacifist to actually fight like that these days. Still, he goes ahead and assumes a defensive stance, allowing Artemis to get the first hit in.]

Don't strain your brain on my behalf.

[So she pauses for a second and then launches onto the offensive. It's better than when she'd first arrived here, but she's still got a long ways to go when it comes to hand to hand.]

[Oh hey, is that a target Kate spies hidden behind a leaf? She almost pulls out her bow to fire at it...only to think "hey, someone probably put these up, and not for me," leading her to wonder who. She thought she was the last archer left. So she stayed just inside the hallway leading to the training center, watching and waiting...

Only to be surprised that it was someone else her age. And not just someone her age--another superhero.

Kate waits for Artemis to shoot a target and go to move onto the next one before she fires her own arrow next to the others.]

Not bad.

[She smiles and turns to face the other girl.]

Thought I was the only archer left on Garden, guess not.

Same. Glad to see there's still at least one more out there.

I'd ask for your name, but with that outfit I'm going to guess you're a superhero so I won't.

[crockshot]

[She'd mention that she really misses Cissie, but... Artemis isn't the s of person to mention that sort of thing.]

You from a superhero world too then? [Because other capes seem to get it better than non-capes do, it's just a thing.]

[hawkette]

[She nods.] Yup. Where I'm from, my superheroes tend to stay in New York City, and guess where I lived? So you could say I'm sort of used to it. [She's not going to say she is one. Not yet.]

[crockshot]

Only in one city? Sounds like it sucks for the rest of your world.

[Artemis is not impressed.]

We work together, but a lot of heroes have their own home city they work out of most of the time.

[flashesforward]

[Wally's been wanting to stretch his legs for a few days now and work on increasing his speed. After shoveling down a large pizza and some fruit drinks, he's ready to hit the training center.

I'm glad I brought my costume.

[Grins and seconds later, he's chilling by her side.]

[He is so lucky he's not a pin cushion right now. So lucky.]t.

[Which is why Artemis just scowls at him, before relaxing her bow and shoving that arrow back into her quiver.]

Don't do that!

[flashesforward]

What? Think of it as good practice, you have to be ready for anything.

[crockshot]

Do you really want me to be ready to accidentally shoot you? Because that's what could have happened.

[So what if he had super speed and could probably avoid anything she could aim his way, that's not the point. All it takes is that one moment of distraction for things to turn ugly. Okay so maybe she's over-reacting, just a little.]

[flashesforward]

If someone randomly saying hey to you is enough to throw off your aim, you may want to invest in a Nerf bow and arrow awhile. [Grinning but also being mindful that she -does- have pointy and painful weapons on her.]

It's not the hey, it's the sneaking up on me! Not to mention that stupid speedster thing where you're not there one second and then all of a sudden you're standing right next to me!

[She'll just continue to be grumpy, don't mind her.]

Normal people I can see coming and I can hear them walk up to say hi. You? Not so much.
