hey a lot of you have already taken the higher magic courses right? what do you think is cooler? attack or restoration magic?

i'm probably not gonna do a lot of the summoning stuff

i don't want to forget anybody important.

[Anyone who stops by the Quad this afternoon will find Lea there, trying to perfect the art of getting his Frisbees to curve midflight and come back around to be caught. He's convinced he can do it if he gets just the right spin on them! In the meantime, though? Today's forecast is sunny with a chance of unexpected flying pointy object.

It's not against the rules, right? He definitely doesn't remember anything about Frisbee in the quad. So it's got to be okay.

i kind of like attack magic but i guess restoration is pretty useful too.

Magic's not just for casting. You've got to consider your Junctions, too. You want to last longer and take more hits, then you want to know restoration magic to Junction. If you want to hit hard, you want to know attack magic.

I never took the higher restorative magic classes but I loved attack magic. Blowing things up and packing more of a punch than I ever would have been able to back home is fun. [She was a completely ordinary human being before Garden and her best friends include a werepanther, a Sorceress, and a half-Saiyan, can you blame her?]

yeah i kind of like the idea of attack magic too! but one of the other instructors said that it makes you weaker when you use it. like, if i junction too much i won't be able to hit anything?

i'm taking a bunch of weapons classes too so i want to be able to use that!

but fire would still be pretty cool.

I favor restorative magic. It's more useful for my work now that I've graduated, and more in line with my personal principles.

so you must have been here a pretty long time if you've graduated already. a lot of people are suggesting restoration magic... could i, like. mostly go for those but keep one or two strong attack spells around too?

[Trunks is just walking into the Quad to read over some of the notes he took from the books in the library--history, both general and of the Sorceress Wars, theory on Time Compression, some information on the different nations of the world...since he couldn't take books out of the library without some hassle, he'd just copied anything he thought might be relevant and was going to go back later for more.

He needed to register for classes too, something he'd never really thought about doing. He stops short, though, when something whacks the side of his head. It didn't hurt, he just wasn't expecting it. Blink. He'll just pick it up and offer it back.]

Naaaah, there he'll have to deal with monsters, and if you hit those they'll try to eat you. Way too much hassle. He dashes over to snag the Frisbee from Trunks.]

I think all magic is useful. Sure there might be some things that help you more, but it's best to learn about everything just in case.

Attack magic makes you stronger, Restorative magic makes you tougher, and Indirectt magic makes you resistant to status effects. Haste or Triple is also really good to junction if you want to be faster.

Looks like you've got a lot of pretty solid advice already! :) I don't think there's anything else I can add there.

My personal opinion is that you should go with what feels right for YOU. Not what feels right for Touma (even though he's awesome) or what feels right for Rinoa, but what you feel better using. If you like healing people, go with restorative magic; if you like beating the living crap out of things, go with attack magic.

... As for Junctioning, I don't personally use Garden's system, so I don't remember it well.

hey, thanks! i like the beating the crap out of things idea myself, but i'll probably balance it out a LITTLE. healing is pretty important too if you're in a big fight!

they usually just put one magic user in a group right?

and what do you do if you don't use the junctioning system? do you have magic from your world or something?

summoning the gfs too much messes with your memory, right? that's what they told me anyway! i don't think i've talked to anybody that happened to yet, but i bet that's because everybody's pretty careful.
