oo1. This is me in Grade 9 [action/open]
[Lost Junpei is lost. The school deal he can handle. The dorms deal he can handle. Even the giant inexplicably floating island-sorta-thing he can handle. But he's not all that great with directions, and he's pretty sure he's been past this corridor about six times already. He doesn't want to ask the creepy guys in robes with turkey platters over their faces--they don't look very hospitable--but he's starting to wonder if he's ever going to find his dorm room. A217... A217...
Crap.
These books are getting heavy. He really wishes he had his stupid purple backpack right about now.
Hefting the books, Junpei turns down yet ANOTHER corridor, hoping perhaps to find a big helpful YOU ARE HERE sign.]
[Perhaps he'll find [Bad username or site: witchesreign title=you @ livejournal.com] instead? 8D]

convenient second random corner? IDK
So, he doesn't appreciate the sudden presence behind him, nor does he stop to think about who it is. Maybe it's fate, or maybe he's just so used to Junpei that his fist flies up before he really thinks about it. ]
YAAAY
Dammit, what the hell, man?? You always just friggin' punch people in the face when they turn corners? Jeez, you could'a broken my no--
[He stops dead in the middle of his sentence as he opens his eyes and looks up to glower at his assailant. No... it... it CAN'T be...]
S-Senpai?
I've been waiting for this!
He is about to turn around apologize when Junpei starts talking.
Well, that explains things. Akihiko glances over his shoulder. ]
...Junpei?
[ He may not look it right away, but he is relieved. A familiar face, and a colleague, a friend--though the later may be said loosely after the previous night at the hot springs--helped immensely. He turns around completely, holding a bag over his shoulder like he normally would his coat. ]
What are you doing here?
Don't MESS with me! >:[
[It's so nice to not have to try and fumble around with English with someone, too. Junpei wasn't a studious person by nature, but he was sort of looking forward to trying out the English classes here. Having an actual REASON to learn something tended to make it stick better, and Junpei wasn't sure he wanted to be dependent on the translator forever. Who knew if it was actually translating things accurately??
Pushing away from the wall, he holds one hand out to clasp Akihiko's hand in an enthusiastic Bro GripTM.]
When did you get here?
Did you see that, Shinji?
And a squeeze back on his hand for the effort. Definitely not the first person he would expect to meet at a military academy, but he's thankful none-the-less. Maybe with their efforts combined, they can get to the bottom of what's really going on.
Or maybe they'll both wake up the next morning to find that Mitsuru's execution was worse than he imagined... ]
Just a little while ago. They gave me an interview then shipped me off here. [ He takes a sweep of the hallway before his expression turns serious again. ] Have you seen anyone else?
Shinji: /sees what you did there.
Same here; I didn't know what the hell they were talking about when they said all that stuff about... squashed time and sorceresses and stuff. I just thought maybe I ate some bad sushi or somethin' and was having a crazy dream. [He rubs his nose then, giving Akihiko a good-natured glower.] I'm pretty sure that would'a woken me up, though. So... I guess this is actually happening, huh...?
[Leaving the books on the floor now that they're stacked, he rises and leans on the wall, adjusting his baseball cap and then folding his arms. He shakes his head.]
I ain't seen anybody else we know, no. I bumped into a guy earlier and made an ass of myself trying to communicate with him til I managed to pull my translator out again, but other than that I haven't seen many other people. I guess maybe cuz classes are in session right now? [A pause, and then he quirks his mouth.] How 'bout you?
...Okay, that's kind of creepy. Ceiling!Shinji is watching you?
So... I guess this is actually happening, huh...? He hates to admit it, but...]
Yeah. I guess so.
[ He glances to the side for a moment. The translator that he was given, they work? He kept it in the bag and just decided to see if he could figure things out on his own. It had been relatively successful. ]
It is Monday, huh? [ Or...it is now. He could have sworn it was Thursday just a few hours ago...Akihiko shakes his head. ] No, you're the first. And maybe the last. [ A sigh. ] Dammit! None of this makes any sense...
better than Basement!Shinji... >.>;
[Junpei knows he's not always the most reliable person, but he's working on it. After Chidori's sacrifice, he's trying to be more aware of what's going on around him, paying better attention to the needs of other people. He's been very selfish up until now, and he's genuinely trying to change that. This isn't exactly the setting he had planned on practicing his new methods in, but he supposes it'll do.
Next order of business!]
So... what's your schedule? [Suddenly it feels like the first day of school all over again. In a way, he guesses it kind of... IS. He pulls his class schedule out of the pocket of his jacket and holds it up.] Did you get a load of all the crazy courses they have here? Man, it's harcore.
A fair point, my friend.
[ Schedule? Right. He did have to sign up for classes...just when he was finishing up his last year at Gekkoukan, too. So much for being an upperclassman. ]
I don't think I'll have any trouble applying myself to these classes. [ He pulls out a sheet of paper from his back pocket, eyes scanning the words quickly. ] Garden Code, Introduction to Weapons Training, Cadet Field Training, Math, Introduction to Para-Magic and Guardian Forces... [ Which he was still a little confused about. What of their Persona? ] Limit Break Theory, Boxing--[ Which, needless to say, he was excited about. ]--Psychology, Tactical Strategy, Rock Climbing, and the two classes in English. I don't want to have to rely on the electronic translators they gave us.
[ He stuffs the paper back into his pocket. The schedule suddenly sounded a lot more full than when he signed up... ]
What about you?
no subject
And thus, he takes Akihiko's sempiternal studiousness with several.]
Why am I not surprised...? [This is muttered with a good-natured, if long-suffering, shake of his head. Isn't it just LIKE Akihiko to apply himself to this so readily...?] I'm taking English, too--I dunno about these translator things. They prolly make me sound like an idiot. [Don't. say. a word.] I'm taking the weapons intro class and the pogo-magic whatever the hell class, too... [He grins then.] Actually, I signed up for boxing, too. I thought it might be cool to try it out, since you like it so much.
[Holding up his schedule (http://no-sausage-fest.livejournal.com/1016.html#cutid1), he leans forward to look at Akihiko's to see if any of their classes are at the same time.]
Ah! Dude, we're in the same boxing class, actually! [He cracks up laughing and claps Akihiko on the shoulder.] Now you can help me out if I absolutely suck!
no subject
Akihiko raises a thin brow. ] Boxing, eh? [ Now, that was an amusing thought. Alright, he could deal, though. Junpei definitely had the spirit when he fought, but he completely lacked and form or grace. That didn't mean he was a lost cause, though.
Even better, they're in the same class? ] Alright. But don't expect me to go easy on you.
[ A slight grin. ] You probably will suck. [ A pause. One that's perhaps a little too long. ] But so does everyone at first.
no subject
[It's nice to have someone to openly joke around with; Junpei is a friendly, outspoken fellow by nature, and while he's known for being somewhat incorrigible regardless of the situation, he already feels better about this situation knowing he's got at least one close ally here.]
