001 [Action] Lobby!
[Have a perplexed, out of place Ryu. His attention is on a piece of paper in his hands, trying to make heads or tails of the situation at hand. The whole school thing was new to him, as, hey, farming communities don't really need education, they just need able bodies and sharp tools. Granted, he was deeper in the woods away from them, but it all fit together either way. He hadn't even begun exploring the school, let alone his own room. Any passerbys might notice a fishing pole leaning against the railing of the main walkway. It looked just like his clothing, in that it had seen a lot of time on the road.]
...Out of the frying pan, and into the fire, I guess.

[He paused, raising an eyebrow]
Why do people go there?
no subject
[ Ah well, it wasn't important, really. She considers the question, because she didn't know what was so special about it other than the view. ]
I... guess they like the view. Other than that I... don't really know.
no subject
[To him, it was just one more trip. After all, he had taken to drifting pretty well once the whole mess with Myria had been put to rest.]
no subject
[ She steps back towards the hall. ] Here, I'll show you the rest of the tour. I believe ... up from here is the parking lot. [ She wrinkles her nose clearly expressing her opinion of -those- things. ]
Do you want to see it?
no subject
...What's a parking lot? [More terms he had never heard before! Momo would be having a field day here.] May as well learn what it is.
no subject
It's a room where they keep metal contraptions called cars. Things people can ride around in.
I'll show you but it smells awful. [ Or maybe Terra's heightened senses just makes it especially difficult for her. In any case, she slips out of the training center and makes her way back to the lobby, heading up to the parking lot. She doesn't go in though - rather, she points the way. ]
no subject
What does it smell like?
no subject
Can't you smell it? It... turns my stomach that smell. I think they called it gasoline.
no subject
...That's vile! Why would anyone even use these things?
no subject
I understand they use them because they are more convenient and faster than Chocobos for travel ... but I can't bear them. I'd rather [ Fly ] ... I'd rather ride a chocobo, or walk.
Being inside one of those things is a bit too much like being in a cage.
no subject
[Oh Tina, you're not alone in your feelings.]
I don't care what the others say, I got a working pair of legs. I'll use those instead!
YOU SAW NOTHING
[ She giggles a bit though at the last, all too glad to get away from the parking lot. ]
Are you hungry? I can show you to where the cafeteria and the quad are -- oh, I suppose I ought to show you where Dr. Kadowaki is too.
Re: YOU SAW NOTHING
[Your words are music to his ears.]
As long as the food tastes better than those metal things smell... Wait, you're telling me along with all this, the school has its own doctor? I'm just used to patching myself up or using my healing magic when I need it.
no subject
I think it does. They do serve these things called "hot dogs" that I don't quite trust. I was told once they weren't actual dogs, but they wouldn't tell me what animal it was from.
[ Surprise! ]
Oh, you can heal too? But yes, the school has its own doctor. It's good for those occasions when you're not capable of healing yourself, or if you have a problem that can't be solved by healing. It's this way.
[ Time to sing the backtrack song - as she walks back the way they came, past the corridor to the Training center, past the corridor to the Library - around to the other side of the lobby. ] I don't know if she is in right now though..
no subject
[Her tone seemed to confuse him a little, but then again, different worlds...]
Magic is actually really common where I'm from. Some people learn it naturally, others can learn from teachers around the world, and others just learned it by watching monsters perform spells and abilities.
[Ryu followed along, taking in the sights.]
Even if she's not in, it's still good to know where her office is.
no subject
[ She pauses again, trying to recall - and finally shakes her head, pausing just at the door of the clinic. ] It looks like Dr. Kadowaki isn't in. But This is her office -- it's... a little crowded at times. Sometimes people get a little rowdy, I suppose.
no subject
[Now she had him a little curious...] What's your home like, anyway?
no subject
[ At the question though, she paused, then turned to walk back the way she came, shaking her head enough to make her ponytail swing. ]
I don't know. I don't ... remember what it was like.
no subject
[He paused, that ever present smile fading. Gently, he put a hand on her shoulder, trying to offer her some sort of comfort.]
I know what it's like not to remember important things about yourself... I know exactly where you're coming from. Rei and Teepo found me in the forest when I was a child, we were orphans, all three of us.
no subject
She paused, glancing at the hand on her shoulder, puzzled. ] ... it's all right. Mr. Smith, one of the teachers here... he was helping me try to recover my memories.
[ Some of them she remembered - some good, ... a lot of them bad. ] You didn't know your parents either?
no subject
[After correcting himself, he caught the puzzled glance, moving his hand off her shoulder.] Er... Sorry. I thought it might make you feel better. That you have a friend, y'know?
no subject
Um... it's all right. [ She's just not used to the whole human contact thing. ] In a strange way it ... does make me feel a little better, I think.
[ ... yeah, definitely strange. She shakes her head though. ] Um- the cafeteria is probably going to be a little crowded. Those hot dog things I was telling you about .. they're really popular.
no subject
Well, your teacher doesn't have to be the only one to help you out. We're all in the whole "far away from home" thing together, right?
[He followed after her, curious about this "hot dog" thing.] I guess I have to try it first, huh?
no subject
... you're actually going to try it? [ LE GASP. Though she's giving Ryu a more than surprised look - dude, you're braver than she is. She leads the way into the cafeteria though, and my god the line to the counter is ridiculously long. ]
Um...
no subject
Sure, why not? It'll just be another adventure.
[And you'd think it would make him hesitate. It kinda did.]
...Huh. You weren't kidding.
